Well as many of you all know Miss Teeny Tiny Nutini suffers from PTSD and in the 2 1/2 years (brought her home at 4 weeks old) I have had her she has been with me 24/7 with one exception where I was away from home for 48 hours..

Now in all that time of living so closely with her she will only ever approach me if I am at her level on the ground maybe twice a week or occasionally she wants me to pick her up for 10seconds and even when I can ( sometimes even If she wants to be picked up she’ll still run away) she only stands on my chest never relaxes! Not once!

Well I thought it was funny that yesterday morning she wanted to be held and she stayed still long enough for me to pick her up .. And when I did she settled into my arms for the first time ever!

I thought it was a fluke until last night as i was sitting on the couch she approached me , gave me a
Head rub and as she walked across my lap ( rarely but sometimes she would just walk across my lap it’s only happened 10 times in 2 1/2 years)

Well she SAT down .. Just like that she sat on my lap and went to sleep .. I was so scared to move to wake her .. My leg was in an awkward position and hurt like hell but there was no way I was moving!

She has never in all those 2 1/2 years ever even came close to doing this ! I even took a pick cause I thought I was imagining it.. I hope this means her comfort level is increasing after the loss of Buttons and the introduction of Noodle ..

He has started to approach her more so he’s getting a lot more swats but when he is a bit bigger and can follow her everywhere she’ll have no choice then to just accept him .. I still think she has been doing incredibly well but for a cat with PTSD it’s going to take a bit of time..

Nutini, concats on your giant leap and sitting and sleeping in Meowmy’s lap. I would say that you are beginning to find yourself now that your best friend and defender has gone to the Meadow. You are being a big girl, well as big as a little girl can be and now you have discovered how wonderful it is to snuggle with Meowmy. I think you are going to be a wonderful big sister and mentor for Noodles.

I’m very proud of her MS ๐Ÿ™‚ she’s a bit of a grumpy girl but she’s my grumpy girl ๐Ÿ™‚ she is constantly watching Noodle now I think it’s a bit of enterntainment for her..

Supergirl Miss Nutini!!! I’m no cat behaviourist by any means, but is it possible that Nutini will come to see Noodle as someone smaller than her whom she can “mother/mentor?” In your pic of the twosome he is so much tinier than her and she’s a little kit herself. Understand your comment about not daring to move from being in uncomfortable position. Hope no long-lasting aches as result of Miss Nutini’s giant leap. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lol KJ no lasting damage form aches or pains ๐Ÿ™‚

I was thinkin that she might take on the mothering roll too.. I can’t see it happening just yet.. But she never really showed a mothering instinct with Buttons it was more the other way round .. Nutini took to Buttons in only a matter of seconds and Buttons never hissed or swatted once.. And amazing introduction with no negative responses at all and I know that’s pretty rare .. Knowing Nutini I think it will be more of a ” I’m the boss I’ll put up with your antics and I will occasionally lick, sleep and play with you” but that’s ok if that’s all that happens cause it will give Nutini the feline interaction she needs .. I don’t think I could see her being close to any other cat like she was with Buttons their bond was amazing to watch.. They were like one cat together if that makes sense ..

This was just one hour after Buttons and Nutini first met .. You can see they were soul mates I think..

Wow, how lucky you were with Buttons and Nutini! Little Willow is still trying to get his big sis Leona to even do anything but hiss and swat. The other two play with him and Bowtie grooms him for a while until he just gets so frantic and bitey she can’t take it anymore. His kitten energy is crazy right now, so diversion is pretty much all I get done doing. I forgot how different a little boy kitten can be since I’ve only had girl cats for so long! They all jump up on furniture to get away from him, but that’s not going to last much longer…

I am so happy for you with Nutini slowly coming around. I know how you feel holding a cat, not wanting to disturb it and actually suffering uncomfortable positions trying to prolong the moment! It’s funny what we go through to make our furkids happy. Noodle is just what Buttons intended for Nutini and you all along and that just brought tears to my eyes thinking about that…

Oh Button, congrats on the big leap of faith for Nutini! …. Abby was a hurricane rescue baby, so I’m not surprized if she had PTSD too…. it took her almost 3 years before she would get in my lap and relax, but now (she’s 8 now) she demands her ‘lap’ time every night ….. and she lets only me pick her up, she likes to settle in the crook of my arm, with her paws streteched up over my shoulder … then she rubs my chin with her head and purrs… it’s like her hug. I think maybe Nutini sensed that it’s ‘her turn’ to snuggle with Meowmy now …. Buttons was such a snuggle bunny, she might have not felt it was her place, but now that he’s gone, she obviously sees your need for snuggling, and her overture to fullfill that need is sweet and a sign of love/adoration ….. cats are sensitive that way…… she’s stepping up to the task …. Seems like she’s made good progress with little Noodle, I think you’re right, he’s just what Buttons would have ordered as a feline companion …..

She is coming into her own…good for you Nutini, snuggling with your Meowmy! My last cat and my current one were both very independent, not cuddlers, when you picked them up their legs went stiff pushing against me, but as they got older they both discovered snuggling and being picked up were good things!

Wonderful news Buttons! She seems to know that she can help you by stepping out of her comfort zone – and realize she likes it at the same time. Three cheers for Nutini!

Moments like this are ones that warm the heart. Congrats on a huge breakthroufh, and on caring enough to give love with patience to one with such a tough beginning. She is most likely forever grateful, she’s got a good person????
