Evening Deb, just relaxing after dinner here, hope the mad rush at w**k eases off soon.

Mmmmmm lamb chops recipe looks good.

The family are totally sold on a lamb chop recipe I’ve been making lately and I must admit it’s downright superb and there’s never enough chops when we eat it.

Evening Jan ๐Ÿ™‚ Wish that I liked lamb or maybe I haven’t had it cooked right. They aren’t too bad tonight in here, head is banging though trying to break thru my skull I think.

Some tips of the day, I had not heard of the vinegar one for strawberries…

    Out Damn Sand

To get pesky sand off your skin and feet: sprinkle with baby powder and brush dry with your hands, or a shaving brush or makeup brush.

    Mosquitos Really Blow

According to the New York Times, research shows that wind is an effective way to ward off mosquitoes and other airborne pests. Sure, the wind prevents them from circling and landing on you. But a fan also dilutes and disperses the carbon dioxide you exhale, and carbon dioxide is one of the major chemicals that attract mosquitoes. Furthermore, a fan helps keep you cool, which helps keep mosquitos away because those critters love your sweat, lactic acid and body heat.

    Phone CPR

IIf your phone or device falls in a puddle by the pool or sea, first remove the battery, then stick the phone in a container with uncooked rice, which will help absorb moisture. If the phone gets covered in sand, use a bulb syringe (like the kind used for kids’ medicines) or something similar to blow out any sand particles in the crevices; Do not use compressed air, which can damage your device internally. Via NBC4.

    No More Soggy Moldy Berries

As soon as you get back from the farmer’s market or store, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse (just a bit because you won’t be able to taste the vinigar anyway) and pop in the fridge. Apparently, the vinegar kills mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit. This little vinegar rinse supposedly helps keep your berries from going soggy and moldy. See Underwater

We used to just use a bit of spit, but some people swear that smearing a little toothpaste inside your google lenses will keep them from fogging up! Via Real Simple.

Hi Deb, I came across the vinegar tip somewhere this Autumn so haven’t had a chance to try it out but it makes sense. My problem is the berries not lasting long enough because I eat it all. The other tips are interesting too.

The heavy rains have stopped here thankfully and now we’re drying out.

HRH spent most of the day outside but is once again in her kitty tent, guess it’s the flavour of the month.

Lol, I totally understand about the berries not lasting long enough to try it ๐Ÿ™‚ I have tried the baby powder for sand and it works pretty well. No rain here today, lots of thunder but no wet stuff.

Did you see this one earlier, I had put it up during daylight hours or when I was concious at least.

    http://www.weather.com/news/arizona-dust-storm-20120721

National Weather Service meteorologist Charlotte Dewey said the storm was moving northwest and was first spotted between Eloy and Tucson.

The haboob covered cities in the metropolitan Phoenix area such as Scottsdale, Gilbert, Mesa, Apache Junction, Santan Valley, Chandler, Casa Grande and downtown Phoenix.

There were no official estimates of its size, but Dewey says spotters estimated it was around 2,000 feet tall. She says there were also reports of 35 mph wind gusts in the area, and a report of a 50 mph gust at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

Above are photos of the event from The Associated Press and our iWitness Weather contributors.

Amazing pictures Deb, Mother Nature sure can stir up some incredible sights. Wow, 2000ft high, I was wondering how high it was.

It would scare the beegeeus (guessed at that spelling) out of me seeing a huge wall coming at you like that.

We have 6 people in here tonight, 1 I can understand not working, he is leaving in a couple of weeks….the others I want to shake until their heads rattle right now….bad huh!

How big is that house, my brain is trying not to want to beat others right now and lost @ converting to square feet.

It’s scary enough seeing and hearing a solid wall of rain bearing down on you with the wind that comes in front of it. That haboob would really scare me, I’ve been wary of things from the sky since our house was hit by a small tornado when I was eleven.

Wow that would scare me too! Wizard of Oz is good on a tv, not in real life…

It’s so warm here tonight I have had to let the fire die down, not what you;d expect to do in the middle of Winter. All inside doors are open too.

Surprise, HRH Shadz has emerged from her kitty tent, licked her lips and headed for the kitchen. I’d better go and make sure all her plates have something in them.

Good morning Kilroy, just to be contrary HRH has now decided to snuggle up next to me and go to sleep.

Kilroy, the Santa reindeer cam is back up again.

No wonder it’s so warm tonight, I just noticed we have a fog outside. That will explain it being quiet outside too.

The puppies are having a little trouble staying on their feet – I think the floor must be slippery (or they’re just being puppies ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Morning everyone!……… beautiful day here, but will get up to the trip digits ‘feels like’ again…….. usually our seabreeze keeps our ‘actual’ temps in the high 90s, but with the sunshine and humidity it’s always sweltering!…. yesterday, I weeded the garden late in the afternoon, it was cloudy, just about to rain, but I had at least an hour, so I turbo weeded……… much better!

…… just put Mr. AV in the shower (he’s really doing well), so I need to get myself going….. we’re headed to the DMV to get his driver’s license updated………….

….. hope everyone is having a nice morning/evening!….. thanks for the Night Shift, MS!
