I am what prevents my wife from being called the neighborhood cat lady. If not for me, she’d be picking up EVERY cat she found. Sadly, the truth is I’d let her if she actually tried that. But she hasn’t. I all fairness, I love cats as much as she does. When we got married almost twenty years ago, we got our first cat together – a black tabby, Max. He was the start of it all. Low these many years later, we’ve had about eighteen cats come through our doors. And we’ve lost our share to everything imaginable. We’ve been through the best and worst of pet ownership. We typically take in cats that are found, either by us or friends. Although we did pick up a couple purebred Persians nine years ago from a friend of the family who was a breeder and they were from her last litter as she was retiring from breeding. Currently, we have nine cats. We usually bring them into the house in pairs so they always have a same-aged playmate. That’s more fun for them AND us!!
Above I said nine cats… Well that was until April 8th. That was the day that one of our cats had four kittens, (and before anyone jumps on the Spay and Neuter Express, we know and she’s already on the vet’s books to be spayed once the kittens are done and adopted out. She was an indoor only cat that escaped and that’s all it took). Luckily, we’ve found homes for this litter. We’ve had some issues with them as well. The third one born wouldn’t nurse until well after the fourth one was born and already nursing. And the first one born has had some what looks to be constipation issues that were working through now. Searching for answers to those issues lead me here.
So I’ll hopefully be able to give as much as I take in time. Oh, I forgot to mention that with all the cats, we also have two Old English Sheep dogs too!!
I’ll post photos of all the furkids as I go….
