    In a brief nutshell, I have 3 kittens left from my cat IDGY’s litter of 5. 2 have passed 2 days apart. they were tiny. they are JUST NOW 9 wks. old. Afraid, took them to the Vet…The next week, (which was this past Tuesday), I took little “Puff” by himself. Vet initially gave them meds for 2 kind of worms. NOW, Vet failed to see that they also had fleas. “Puff got meds for anemia. He was turning the corner, eating WELL, & even grooming.I have been praying sooo hard for PUFF…He is sick with labored breathing since yesterday (Dec 31) afternoon. I am sooo upset, no Vet open.I also am sick with the flu.I have been up tending to PUFF for days,JUST beginning to relax, when this happens!!! What can I do for my baby ????

    Jules, for the fleas a bath in Dawn dish detergent can help immensely with that (make sure you keep them warm and dry them off well with a towel). The fleas can cause anemia with kittens very quickly. The link I am sending will help with the stages of kittens and how to help them at least a little bit. http://www.messybeast.com/handrear.htm

    I haven’t had kittens in forever so I can’t think of too much else but we have a couple of people who may be coming on soon who have much more experience than I do.

    I don’t like the sound of the laboured breathing. I think you need to get him to the emergency vet ASAP. There should be 24/7 vet cover in your general area, even during the holidays. If you can’t find an emergency clinic in the phone book, ring your normal vet and hopefully there will be a message telling you where you can get emergency help.

    I am not sure whether you mean the fleas are still on him or whether the vet saw he had fleas then gave him the anaemia meds or whether he gave him anaemia meds without noticing he had fleas (which would be very strange). I would use a flea comb to get them off as quickly as possible. I am not sure I would risk a bath with the laboured breathing. I really do think he needs a vet asap. Good luck.

    Hi !!!! Thank you BOTH so much for your help & concern for my PUFF !!!! 😀 OK, The Vet did NOT see the fleas on the FIRST visit…IDK WHY !!!! I assumed that they were too young to treat fleas. Thanks for the tip with the Dawn dishwashing liquid, Debra. At this point, Puff has no fleas, the Vet put ADVANTAGE on his BELLY & nape of neck on Tuesday. I took home a Lg. vial, & used it on all of the cats.OH, & THANKS for the link !!! Wish I would have had it a long time ago, as the kittens’ mama don’t have much intrest in them anymore…I will keep the link handy, though !!! 😀 Much appreciated !!!! ……..To JCAT : Hi.I KNOW, I am SCARED to death with his breathing…I DID put PUFF back on his .02 ml. of ALBON early this A M, & for some reason, it seemed to help some. I kept him on his .02 ml. of amoxicill & his vitamins,4 X daily, & his quick start . As far as taking PUFF to E-Vet, cannot do…I am REALLY sick, & have no car to get there…I have been PRAYING non-stop !!! I am real low on money right now, as I have a new granddaughter, born on Dec. 12th, my son in law B-day, the 13th, & my 19 yr. old younger DAUGHTER , the 27th of Dec…..AND $200.00 I paid to the VET. (I had to BORROW that $$) :((. My mom& daughter cats are on the list for low cost spays, but a cat snuck into my house & got to 1 of them…The OTHER, snuck out…What a pickle I’m in !!! STILL waiting on the spays…I had my cat “BABY” for around 9 yrs, & took in a playmate for her…Turned out, “Baby” had FIP…That also cost alot.Baby passed on July 3, so I was so happy that I had another kitty.ANYWAY, TMI, I KNOW….SORRY !!!! Thank you BOTH , again …Glad to have such caring people out there !!!!! PUFF WAS under the bed, hiding from me & my meds…IDK where he snuck off to. Not good. Guess I’m gonna search for him .THANKS AGAIN !!!! ~ Julie.
