    Hi there,

I came across this site while googling information about new born orphan kittens and figured I’d post my concerns as I am unable to find solid answers to all my questions. Any guidance and advice is greatly appreciate and I apologize on advance if some of my questions are repeats, I’m just very anxious.

My brother found 2 abandoned kittens on the rooftop of his work 2 days ago. He believes they were 5 days old when he found them, but I’m having a hard time figuring it out based on the charts I’ve seen. When we found them they had dried up and dirty umbilical cords that fell off immediately as I wiped them gently with a warm cloth (they didn’t cry or anything). They’re eyes are closed but their ears are out. They can climb out of their box and wobble around but cannot fully stand on their legs. Any guess at how old they might be?

Feeding and getting them to go to te bathroom has also been a concern. So far I have been feed every 2-3 hours. I have KMR and a bottle which they both drink out of no problem. The first night I got them (Monday) I stimulate their genitals and both pooped and peed quite a large amount, since then thy have peed but not pooped. How long should I be stimulating for and should I be worried they haven’t pooped again? Also I have to go back to work tomorrow, they will be fe at 7am and then I get home for 3pm, I’m gonna come home on my lunch break (12pm) to do another dressing but I am extremely nervous that this will not be enough.

They seem quite content, they dont cry unless ie picked them up and am cleaning them or stimulating the gentians. I have a carrying cage I’ve set up with cozy blankets, a plus toy and an old school clock for the ticking noise. I’ve got a heating pad on low on one side and they seem to snuggle up with other another and o can hear them purring when i pet them or burp them.

My biggest concern is age and feeding while I am at work during the day. No one else is home so I don’t have an alternative. I don’t want to give them up as I believe I am caring for th well and don’t trust the shelters here not to put them down. If anyone has some words of wisdom or advice it would be greatly appreciated

They will be ok with the work feeding times, as long as they are fed at 12 as well, but make sure to maintain a consistent schedule otherwise. Kittens poop every 2 or 3 days, but kmr gets babies constipated so dilute it an extra part water. If you notice weight loss in a week you may try to convince your boss to allow you to bring the babies with you. They need to be kept warm, flea free, and clean. So far it sounds like you’re doing everything right. They should eat about 5ml – 10ml per feeding. Their poop should be brown or mustard and mostly solid their pee pale yellow and mostly odorless. Any abnormality that lasts longer than a day should be looked at by a vet, but I recommend calling ahead and asking about their experiences with young kittens. Never de-worm under 6 weeks, that’s a heads up cause many vets don’t know not to for some reason. I hope the babies grow up healthy! And thank you for helping them!

Hello, I’m just curios how well the kittens are doing now. My husband brought back a 3-5 days old kitten whose mom died and I’m stressing on how high its chance of survival is… It nurses well but have been having watery stool since last night. I’ve only gotten it Monday night… It’s being fed kitten milk and it wants to drink a lot. Since it would only drink by sucking my finger while I slowly dropped milk with an eye dropper on the side of its mouth, I can’t tell how much it’s really eating. On average feeding it drank about 5 ml but some good amount will drop to my skirt. It is fed about 8 times a day…
