Hi ppl !! I was at my parent’s house earlier today with my 2 young sons and we saw a ”Lost” kitten near the pool which is common in our area ”Farms & Big lands” but this little girl came right at us in need of affection and mostly in need of care .. Really skinny and lacking energy. All we had laying around to feed her was puppy food so we gave her a little portion of it & fresh water. She fell asleep right after for 2 hours on our garage’s couch. We decided to bring her home and adopt her, she’s really sweet, cuddly and calm. On the way home she sat on my legs without complaining or showing any signs of panic ” as long as was petting her lol”. When we got home we first gave her a short bath ”she was really dirty and sticky since my parent’s yard is surrounded with pine bushes” she first sat down calmly then she went on panic mode like most cats does under water, we then saw a little bit of blood in the water coming from her behinds ”can’t tell which orifices it came from”, we took her out of the bath right away & put her in a towel and babied her, bleeding stopped right away. She’s now with me in my pc room, laying down on my desk looking at me, really calm, asking for love loll.. I’ll bring her to the vet asap tommorrow to get her diagnosed and healed but for now i’d like some advices on what to do, isolate her for the night in a single room ? how much food/water ? can the bleeding be caused by being hungry or lack of water for too long?

    Thanks

    Chris

Concats on rescuing your wee girl. Taking her to the vet. is the best idea. As long as she didn’t have a stream of blood coming out, I suspect it’s from fleas. When you bath a kit and they have fleas, the red or orange-red is actually flea dirt.

Good luck and keep in touch.

thanks for your quick reply !! You reassured me with your flea dirt statement !! I was really on the ”brown’ish” side, but tought it might be blood !
For sure i will bring her to the vet asap tomorrow morning !! Other quick question : One of her eyes is leaking, seem kinda ”foggy” 🙁 .. no claw scars tho.. any idea ? Kitten flu symptoms ?

    Thanks

Chris, your english is great, actually better than most people who live in the US! HA! Anyway, I agree with the flea dirt in the water. They bite and leave dried blood (flea dirt) on the kitten. When water hits it it’s a brownish, reddish, or orangeish look to it. The best thing is to get her to the vet, they will treat the fleas (or tell you how to) and get her wormed and maybe shots, depending on how old they think she is. Thank you for saving this little girl, as her life in the wild would not be good or very long. 🙂
