    Hi all,
I am needing some comfort from other cat lovers and needing advice.
My roommate and I are having trouble getting into a new place. this is due to my little Hikari climbing on the blinds and damaging them. even though we paid up our old landlord insists on putting that on the records for any place we apply for. My roommate says hat he thinks I could have done more, aka, well, going to a form of discipline i do not, and I repeat do not, agree with. shudders
Anyway, one, how can I keep my little Hikari off the blinds if we do manage to find a new place, and how can i quit blaming myself for this? I feel like its my fault that we are very limitted now.

Lisa, don’t feel bad. Cats and blinds do not mix. It’s not that cats are destructive, but they love looking out of the windows, period, it’s what they do. I would suggest taking down the blinds and putting up some other kind of window covering that is compatible with cats. Then, before you leave, put the blinds back up to keep the landlord, or roommate happy. It’s true that cats can be trained, but when it comes to looking through a blind to be able to see through the window, they poke their paws through and then it becomes a game. Or raise the blinds so she can see out and won’t damage them. You could also offer to buy new blinds so the landlord won’t give you a bad recommendation. I thought that’s what the deposit was for? 🙁
