I have a new male polydactyl kitten, he has 7 toes on the front feet, and 6 on the back. He’s black and white. I would love to give him a clever name that has to do with his feet, ex: tony (toe-ny) or zu( Chinese for foot) catch my drift? I already have a polydactyl named tony so I don’t want any names too close to his.

Hmmm, I like Toeny! I had a cat named Shaddo – just to be different!
Nothing springs to mind but if I think of something, I’ll stop back.

Since you have a little boy, I suggest Hemmingway.

How about a royal name such as Count de Toes Courtney for short

Then again you could go for more of a technical name like “Digits”

Taking off from the Hemingway theme what about choosing the name of one of his main male characters?

Santiago (The Old Man and The Sea)
    Jake (The Sum Also Rises)
Frederic Henry (but he was mostly known as Henry) (A Farewell to Arms)

Purrhaps a bit of a stretch, but Hemingway was the ultimate “poly” lover – and his characters are “real masculine men” LOL. And IMHO it would be fun to explain how kit got his name.

Toe-bee is cute, but it sounds a lot like Tony. I tried to submit much earlier, but it’s usually hit or miss, the website is up but not responding to connection attempts. My daughter has an orangey polydactyl that looks like he is wearing catcher’s mitts, his feet are so big!

This may not be original enough, but…

How about Polly? (I took it from the beginning of Polydactyl) When I googled the actual meaning of the name “Polly” it said “star of the sea”. To give it a more masculine spelling, you could spell it “Paulie” if you want. “Paul” name meaning is “humble”.

Or just Polys, which means “many”

Adhik (pronounced Ah*Deek) – means “more” or “greater” and is sanskrit

OK this is my final contribution – Hemingway’s poly was called “Snowball” and Teddy Roosevelt had a poly called “Slippers”. Is that your kitty on your avatar? Would love to see pic! Here’s some poly fun!

So I decided on hemi. As in Hemingway. He and my other cat are now use to each other and are having a blast chasing each other around. Took him to the vet, he was a big star and is healthy. He is a huge snuggler and loves people.
