Generally speaking, fish odor is sort of common in cats and it’s not really a huge issue. According to vets, this could indicate that your cat has an issue with its sac glands, which usually goes away on its own. This smell is not one you should worry about too much, but it is something you should have looked out if you’re not convinced that your cat is all right. It is always better to be safe than it is to be sorry, after all.

Please call your vet. for advise.

It’s important to take any unusual smells from a young kitten seriously, as it could indicate a health issue. It’s good that you’ve already contacted the vet and they have reassured you that as long as the kitten is eating and going to the bathroom, she should be okay.

However, there are a few potential reasons for kitten to smell like fish and some things you can do to help your kitten smell better.

Firstly, it’s possible that your kitten has come into contact with something smelly, such as a dirty litter box or a spilled food dish. Make sure to clean the kitten’s bedding and environment thoroughly, and check that the litter box is clean and fresh.

Another possibility is that your kitten has a medical issue that is causing the odor. For example, some infections or digestive issues can cause foul-smelling stool or urine.

You can try bathing your kitten with a mild, kitten-safe shampoo to help reduce the odor. Be sure to use lukewarm water and be very gentle, as young kittens are fragile and can easily become chilled or stressed.

However, if you continue to be concerned about the smell, it may be worth getting a second opinion from another vet or a specialist in kitten care.

They may be able to provide additional advice or recommend further steps to take. In the meantime, keep monitoring the kitten closely and make sure she is eating and eliminating regularly. Good luck!
