Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering service men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country.

Interestingly 2 women came to Knitting Circle from Ottawa. Turns out that they are in our Air Force. More interesting is their jobs. They play in a military band, ensembles, full band etc. I just never thought of this sort of job as related to military service. They get to play at all sorts of parades and events attended by our Governor-General, Justin and royalty! And they hold the rank of Sergeant. And yeah, they had to go through basic training just like efurryone else.

Oops-I don’t know what made me think I was doing the weekend. We have two memorial day tributes.

We have two Memorial Day cafes, so I just clicked on the top one and will read both!

Very hot and humid here today–mid 90’s expected. We had a BBQ at oldest daughter’s home last night and this afternoon at youngest dau’s. No cooking for me…he he heeeee!

Mr. KZ was requested at youngest dau’s this morning to help put in a new laundry room floor. He wasn’t really excited but is always ready to help when they need him. Probably requires lots of heavy lifting and moving appliances. I’ll go up later on in the afternoon.

I hope everyone enjoys their relaxing day and enjoy the parades and festivities in the towns that still have them. We used to have a wonderful parade, but it dwindled over the years and now they don’t have it. There is a ceremony at the cemetery though that is especially moving.

    Hi Efurryone,

I didn’t do much celebrating or pikinicking this weekend. Instead, I shampooed the carpet. This the first time in 2 (yes 2) years that I’ve done a deep clean. It wasn’t too bad. Well, that’s a big lie! 😯

I’ve used the carpet spray but it stays on top. Anywho, my carpet is clean and purrty. It’s so soft on my toesies, too.

The kits run from the vacuum but don’t care about the shampooer. Go figure.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hi all – quiet day around here, hubby will grill later. I made potato salad and jello salad to go with the dogs and burgers and corn.

JJ, you visited both Cafés – neat!

PG, with you doing all this heavy-duty cleaning – does this mean that your back is feeling better – ope so!

Which Café to visit – decisions, decisions! Oh for this to be my biggest consideration! *Sigh*

Muggy out so I turned on the A/C just to cut the humidity.

Finally got hold of our Rental Board as my lease is up for renewal or whatever end of June. Based on our laws I can simply refuse “Repossession”/rent increase by new/current landlord. Then they have to go to Rental Board and it could turn out that if I move I could arrange for it to be next Spring/moving costs paid. But I sense that I am ahead of myself as the one person who visited has shown no interest and no one else has seen the place. Landlord was rude to me and I have no probs at all taking case to Rental Board Judge. From what I’ve heard Rental Board tends to take tenant’s side. So hope that this is true.

Least of my major stresses. Tomorrow I go for shingles vaccine. “Common” side effects – stomach issues, the same ones that I have been dealing with for past while! 😥 Then Wed appt that has the power to undo me! Going to try to do some knitting and see if I can manage to not mess it up, slow going as it is “lace work” and cannot be done mindlessly. Oh for life to be like knitting – you can always go back and start over! 🙄

Enough complaining. On way home I picked up a solid birch table. I know, nothing new is supposed to come in. But – it looks neat at end of bed, will look even nicer at end of new bed which I ordered, Wayfair had raised price over 1 day so when I questioned this they knocked price back down! Even though N’s BF wasn’t able to order if from his work, price is excellent! Plus table will be ideal for crafting and anywhere I move will have more space than this place, I’d think. For now I’ll have to move it when anyone other than myself, or Dorry wants to get by, no biggie. There, I’ve managed to justify myself to myself! 😉

KJ, if this helps any, I’ve had the vaccine and had no stomach issues whatsoever. Only had a sore, raised area on my arm which I was unaware of until I scratched it mindlessly…and realized it was where they gave me the shot. Well duh, it IS chicken pox so it might be a little itchy! 😆

KJ, Have the vaccine. I’ve had a very mild case of shingles; not fun at all. My niece got shingles in her eye. Permanent damage to the eye and ongoing pain. Oh, and congrats on the table – a great find.

    Tks guys,

I have a choice “get the vaccine” or “get the vaccine” = no choice. And the funds to do so. Latest version is in 2 “shots” over 6 mos, $150 ea. Pneumovax was like $200! Flu shot is free. For peeps who need shots and can’t afford them it a sad situation. Private ins (which I don’t have, does not cover shingles vacc.) I have a way mild case too, and it was caught way early so a dose of Famciclovir took care of that. But shingles can be a horror story.

Since yet again I’m still wide awake I took opp to contact Google by phone, apparently not easy to do. Was getting some privacy check pop-up – relentlessly – and on INet noted that others have experienced same annoyance. Called some number and was asked for $$$ and treated most rudely. Valid Google guy I just spoke to said that this bogus site is very well done by these loathesome %((_!!! Report was filed and will be looked into at higher cyber level. Also gave me FBI I’Net crimes info so that I can file a report. Wow!

Well takes my mind off other things such as just how will I manage the next 2 days? With usual KJ aplomb, or I’ll lose it, ideally not in public. 😉 Next up – a bit of reading, and at least a few hrs of sleep.

KJ, I figured I would chime in because I just had the second shot for the shingles vaccine and while for the first one I had some soreness, itching and redness at the injection site for the second shot I had everything listed as possible side effects! But it was all mild and lasted about 1 day. I got the shot on a Friday afternoon and spent Saturday wondering what was wrong with me, until I filed the paperwork from the shot on Sunday and realized what it was. So be prepared for a day of upset stomach and mild fever maybe with muscle aches.

    TM! {{waves}}

Anymore, that’s pretty much everyday for KJ. 😥

    Love the table!

For sure PG, but tomorrow’s stress-laden appt might see MD adjusting things or something, ’cause this is not an optimal way to be.

Shot went OK. Nurse used “baby needle”. Arm aches but like with other shots. She took side-effect info from me as I tend to be obsessive (really?). And if anything goes weird a phone call will be in order. My guts do feel a tad crampy, but don’t know if it’s from shot or the other issue. Or other issues that serve to complicate matters. *Sigh*

But mega-tks for your concern and vaccine report, TM!
