ParticipantAs noted previously, the lead-in to the US Thanksgiving feast has already begun with some recipe tryouts in the café kitchen. But today, each crew member has decided that his or her stuffing recipe is by far the best. Tuxie’s paws are full trying to keep the chaos to a minimum and to keep the kits from usurping Chef Kitty’s authority. So, each kit will get some time to prepare their recipe and then all who wish can taste test and vote for their favourite. There’s even a rumour that renowned (equally for his culinary expertise and his “unfluffiness”) chef Purrrdon Ramsay has stopped by! Don’t worry, our regular orders will also be filled even before we request them.

ParticipantMorning all! I love stuffing, here is my personal recipe, it’s my family’s favorite!
Thanksgiving Dressing (Stuffing)
1 package Peppridge Farm Cornbread stuffing
14 slices Peppridge Farm White bread – cubed, crust and all
½ cup diced celery
½ cup diced onion
½ cup diced fresh mushrooms
¼ – ½ cup chopped dried figs
¼ – ½ cup chopped dried apricots or cranberries
¼ cup sliced almonds
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp pepper
½ – 1 tsp ground sage
1 pound Jimmy Dean pork sausage (I used the sage flavor)
5-6 cups chicken stock (1 large 32 oz box + 1 can)
2 eggs
Pats of butter
Preheat oven to 350. Brown sausage and set aside. In same skillet, sautee celery, onion and mushrooms until soft. In a large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients well. Turn into a greased (pam sprayed) large rectangular baking dish. Dot the top with little pats of butter (not too much). 25 November, 2013 at 1:13 pm #795444ParticipantInteresting distinction: the term ‘stuffing’ actually refers to the bread dish being cooked (literally stuffed) inside the turkey ….. ‘dressing’ is the same dish made as a casserole or side dish…….

ParticipantI remember the year so clearly that I asked TDK for menu/recipe ideas as I was entertaining a chef. Lots of memories there–very bittersweet.
The pictures of kitteh chefs are a perfect start to the morning!! Since there is no school I will spend today getting done what I was too lazy to finish yesterday. For now have to keep busy roads are icy and husband had to go in–no rest for the wicked!

Yes the site does seem decidedly slowed down, which is why I seem to have triple-posted at times and had to run into my profile to delete 2 of the postings. Thought this happens when many peeps try to post at one time, but I’m not tech-savvy.
This am with wind chill its -18°C (0°F) but “the sun is shining”. Like that helps much. Will have to “give in” and attach hood to coat, gloves within mitts, the whole deal. And learn to like it LOL. SM, ice gets at me more than snow/cold, hopefully they’ve at the very least salted roads since your husband had to get to work. Read somewhere that cat litter could be used in lieu of salt, never seen it tried LOL.
Then play “The Spoons” 80s hit “Smiling in Winter” to further get with the program.
And if possible, could one of the kitties spare a moment to bring me a steaming hot latte? Purrhaps the black kit who’s “no halp at awl” – my soulmate (I’m not a cooking person LOL) could manage it.

Now I am trying to get the ironing done…a favorite task!

prairiecatParticipantGood morning kits! A little warmer than yesterday but not by much. I’m always happy to use snow day/ice day/whatever as an excuse to cuddle up with a coffee and a kit.
They use beet juice here on the roads – not sure exactly what’s in it that helps melt ice, but it makes for some interesting color snow/ice piles (pink!)
AV, that stuffing sounds awesome! I’m afraid I’m more of a StoveTop Stuffing girl, or when I’m really ambitious, the recipe on the back of the Pepperidge Farms bag. I do love stuffing (dressing) though, I should try something new!
SM, sometimes I love to iron and sometimes it drives me nuts. Vacuuming is the chore I’m not crazy about, although I do like the results 🙂25 November, 2013 at 2:44 pm #795453ParticipantDon’t know about relaxing–2 weeks from the Boys and Girls Home Christmas party. Santa gifts not done, menu is done, but have lots of shopping to deal with, decorations, ensure all angels are bought for, and a million details to attend to–stockings!

Busy at this place for a short week w/end of month on Weds. I will be solo that day too/officemate has off. So will be occupied more than usual with work fun.
