There’s no dance quite like the Chicken Dance. Not limited to weddings, it is also played at other social events where there is a band and dancing. Kits however might have other plans (ahem!) for chickens!
No earworm provided – you can thank me later! πŸ˜‰

    Oh poor Billy!
The chicken dance was pretty much a staple at wedding receptions, in my day, anyway. Silly, but sort of rite of passage.
Cloudy and cool here in Jersey today. Berta has decided to have her morning nap inside. I had to wake her for breakfast! After she ate she went right back to her nap spot!

    Awwww Berta!

Yes JK, I don’t know how many times on looking into my coffee cup, I spy a swirling cat hair!

A warm muggy day here, and we had a little shower that cooled it some. I need to go plant some stuff, but I’m waiting for the grass to dry off a bit.

MS, I have been planting my annual herbs such as basil, parsley, dill, and rosemary. In more temperate climates, rosemary grows like a shrub, but here it can withstand some cold, but it dies after a couple of really hard frosts. Yes, I could bring it in, but it never does well. I have planted tomatoes and peppers in my vege garden. And am waiting to plant some green beans, zucchini, salad cucumbers and onion sets. I don’t have a big garden, but that will be enough to keep me and the girls having fresh produce for a while. I don’t grow enough to can, I just don’t want to mess with that. But Mr. KZ planted our sweet corn and we hopefully (if the raccoons don’t get it all) will have enough for us all to put corn up to freeze.

Oh and I HATE that chicken dance song!!! πŸ˜†

Happy Monday all! Oh yeah, remember the chicken dance …. of course wine involved;) lol good times!

Rain, no stormy today! Hard rain most of the day. Mr. AV and i took a dehumidifier to Sons, cant have those nice redone floors buckle! My Hazel/good friend went over to clean and get started on the finishing paint and trim work ….. I think he’ll be pleased when he gets back tmrw. I got some vibers from him today, of course he’s in Gaza ….. in the thick of things …. but how awesome to be at an historic event! Praying for his safe return. Have a great evening all!

    Good morning all.
It’s a dark wet day, we’ve had pouring rain since breakfast time.
Every time I begin to post here something interrupts me. But I am here now.
KJ, we have doubled up on the funny ‘quack’ pic. Now I swear that wasn’t on your pics when I was posting but there it is now. I am beginning to wonder if not all your pics show up sometimes because I check them carefully so no doubles. Twilight Zone material.
JJ, the chicken dance was a must do at the school discos that my friends and I used to organise when we were on the PTA. It usually was played at the end of the evening so the parents arriving to pick up their children were hauled on to the dance floor and had to join in. Definitely a right of passage. I love how Berta comes inside for naps and breakfast.
JK, LOL at the kits in the coffee cup.
KZ, I gave daughter an upright Rosemary and the thing grew like a tree up as high as the eaves of the house then bent out past them and on up. It was ridiculously high and very wide. It had a serious pruning back. Have you tried threading chicken on to firm stems stripped of leaves as kebabs for the bbq. Mmmmm flavoured from within. I don’t have a large garden but also plant in old tyres in several good spots around the property. The peppers do well that way as do the zucchini and cucumbers.
We only grow enough for ourselves and I don’t can(we call it bottling here) unless it is fruit and I pretty much don’t do that now either. You grow much the same as I do.
Thinking on it and I have done the chicken dance at a wedding or two, wine included of course.
The evil little side of me wants to post a link to the chicken dance but I will resist. πŸ˜‰
I have a pot of lemon, chicken, orzo soup on the stove and am preparing spaghetti and meatballs for the slowcooker. Meatballs were all made last week and in the freezer.
AV, your Hazel is a talented lady, she can turn her hand to many things.

Don’t believe that I have ever done “Chicken Dance” Or purrhaps I wiped that memory from my memory. LOL
MS, my day to day life seems like Twilight Zone ep at times! *laughing and crying at same time!*
I hope that you have gotten those nasty meds out of your system and are feeling better.
I sense an all-nighter coming on and I know exactly why, and there is nothing for it, although a discussion will take place, but obviously not this minute, complicated. And tomorrow/Wed a crash of sorts. *Sigh*
I am determined to self-nomify (neologism!) before getting started on projects which can easily wait.
Racing around all day like the proverbial I don’t know what. Ended up scoring re IKEA style white shelves. And taxi co sent a huge station wagon and for $20 all told very polite driver brought it in for me. It’s now cleaned beyond clean as is the carpet in hallway! Used bucket and well … Shelves went into standing shower. There were 2 units and I took all the shelves plus the screws for placing said shelves. Then 3 coats of paint. When I have efurrything in place will prob post pic. I’m thinking solid wood as way heavy and FREE!!!!!
Plus N’s friend is gladly taking my previous dresser, i so like it when things go to a good home!
I between DIY mode went for what now seems to be monthly hair trim, stylist is rock star and IMHO look is way kewel!
Plus spent 3 hrs on phone helping N choose a water dispenser and printer online, but all know that shopping relaxes me.
MS, find myself pondering whether the zucchini that I will be eating even this very night are male or female. I so don’t want to be sexist! Should I ask fruit/veg mgr at supermarket? Purrhaps not! πŸ˜‰
Lastly Knitting Circle cohort showed me some items that she is using as stitch markers. Knew I’d love them. They have them at Michaels, 12 to a pack for like $6 or per pack, would need 2 packs to get matching set – as I am planning to turn them into earrings, way simple project. Plus N is planning shopping trip to store in her n’hood, maybe even tomorrow! Here they are!

KJ, yes I seem to have the worst of those nasty meds out of my system. I feel so much better for it too.
Well, we have had some crazy weather the last hour or so, the heavens opened and forgot how to close. The rain was unbelievably heavy and constant. The lawns were ankle deep in water and we had a cataract racing down our steep drive and threatening to get into the garage and flood it. There are flooded streets nearby but no houses are flooded and there was a mini tornado not far away that has done some minor damage and of course the obligatory trampoline took flight.
I do believe that phrase you are looking for is ‘racing around like a blue a**ed fly in a bottle’. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜† At least that is how we say it here.
Well done on getting the Ikea like shelves back home with the taxi drivers help. Wow total strip and clean and repaint. Looking forward to the pic. If it’s heavy then it most probably solid wood. Score !
As for the zucchini it will only be female as only the female bears fruit. Zucchini plants produce male and female flowers on the same plant and for the plants to produce fruit, insects must visit both flowers, taking the pollen from male flowers and transferring it to the female flower. Just like in the human world.
Oh those are lovely little charms and they would make great earrings.
