Our Indigenous Peoples’ Day is June 21st, the Summer Solstice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Aboriginal_Day Among my clients/colleagues are a non-profit company that fosters and promotes Indigenous Arts (Cinema, music, visual arts, literature etc) so I’m always involved in that.

There is also the International Day of the Worlds’ Indigenous Peoples, on the 9th of August http://www.un.org/en/events/indigenousday/

Thanksgiving isn’t as big a holiday anywhere in Canada, least of all here in Québec, where it was seen as a “Protestant” celebration by Francophone (and Irish) Catholics. However, quite a few people do take advantage of the long weekend to organize some kind of festive supper (anything is an excuse to “fêter”, i.e. eat good food and drink wine, here in Qc). The weather was so lovely that we had what was doubtless the last outdoor meal, on a friend’s patio. She is fostering a beautiful white tomkitten who is getting quite big – and also slated for That Nasty Operation very soon.

Other than wine and cheese, of course, I took my friend a potimarron squash, which is pretty much the same thing as a Red Kuri squash. Looks like a little pumpkin, but much tastier flesh! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_kuri_squash
