Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing I have with my little baby girl Phoenix. She has long fur, including really funny tufts that come out the bottom of her feet and whenever she goes poop, she gets some stuck to the fur on her butt. Also when she tries to bury her poop, she gets it stuck to her feet. If she had short fur, I could just wash it off with a damp cloth, but because its so long the only way I can get it off is to put her directly in some water (or at least her feet and bum). I feel so bad because she just cries and cries the whole time. Has anyone else experienced this before? This is the first time I have ever owned a cat with long fur, so this is totally new to me. Any Idea’s that might stop her from getting so much poop on her?

Could be that as she gets older, she gets more savvy on how to poop and not get so dirty. In the meantime, you can clip or shave (with help) some of the fur around her bum. This is a really big help with long haired cats and helps prevent mats too, which is something you will have to do anyway with regular brushing. Her paws can be rinsed under a faucet and dried easily. She may not like it, but with time she will get used to it.

I have to trim Miss Moppet’s butt fur so she doesn’t get poop and tangles. As KJ said, she gets older, hopefully, she figure it out.
