    Hello!
    I have a beautiful little ginger male kitten, but he has a slight problem;
    He stalks and pounces on me, which I don’t really mind, but when he jumps on me, he often starts biting me quite hard, whilst doing bunny kicks. I’ll push him off my hand gently to get him off me,, but he comes right back, and starts biting me even harder! After a few times of me pushing him off, he starts getting angry with me! I don’t know if its because I refuse to let him bite me or something, but his ears go back and his tail starts wagging like crazy, and sometimes he does that ”MEOWOWOWOW” sound angry cats do, and then he literally attacks me hand, and bites and kicks and scratches me, its really driving me round the bend, it makes me want to strangle him sometimes (not that I would lol) because it hurts, a lot! He even draws blood sometimes.. I’d really like y’alls advice on how to discourage him from doing this,
    Thanks! – An annoyed cat slave

    Cat,,,LOL, I’m not laughing AT you but WITH you, and you have my sympathy. It really does hurt, I know. For some reason, male kittens are more prone to this ~ and especially before they have been neutered. If hasn’t been neutered, you need to get him there and get it done. That being said, you never want to play with a cat or kitten with your hands and feet. Get him some kicky toys that he can chase when you throw them, then he can bunny thump them. Also feather toys on wands where he can chase, run, catch and kill his prey. Right now, you are his prey, and that’s just not acceptable. Also, a laser pointer is good for wearing him out, but he still needs toys that he can actually catch to satisfy his need to hunt, catch and kill. He has a lot of energy and needs to expend it on something besides you. Try these things and let us know if it helps!

    Hi Cat!
    Can’t add anything more to what KZ brilliantly advised. But I can relate to your woes, as my Dorry enjoys stalking and trying to sink his fangs into me, especially at night when he’s wide awake and I’m headed for bed. 🙄 Mentioned this to my vet and wouldn’t you know, one of her kits is also a biter. I will admit that as he grows this behaviour has become less frequent and vet says that at 5 he still exhibits kittenish tendencies and the biting should lessen even more. I will add that if I’m, say in bdrm and he jumps on me looking to get a piece of me, I pick him up and place him outside the door and close said door. Hopefully he understands that this is a form of time out. For both of us!

    Hi Cat – I can certainly identify with you, I was Leela’s prey, sometimes still am. I always try to have a toy at the ready, but she has gotten better since she was a baby. With diverse toys, you should be able to find the kind that your kitten finds to ‘hit the spot’.
