    Wow JK,

Hula Hoop – anyone remember sock hops, peeps sliding all over the floor LOL?
Those cheese doodle peeps sorta creep me out, if I stare long enough the doodles seem to be moving 😯
Or purrhaps I’ve had too much of the virtual “Green Fairy”, speaking of which here’s the kit connection, and I am so wanting to try absinthe, and this brand, not available here, (would need to be kosher), could get in US, but don’t know what customs/duty would do, way expensive, and when I ask travelling peeps, they won’t pick me up a bottle, not even when I ask nicely. 😥

Absinthe is powerful, JK – allegedly very. Not so sure about current recipe, but original at end of C19 “led to the ruin of many a poor boy”, think “strange” French poets, Baudelaire, Verlaine et al. Also featured in film I hated “Moulin Rouge”, the one with Nicole Kidman. Still want to try it ‘tho!

In 1912, Oreo sandwich cookies were first introduced by the National Biscuit Co.
In 1933, a national bank holiday declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt aimed at calming panicked depositors went into effect. Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak, wounded in an attempt on Roosevelt’s life the previous month, died at a Miami hospital at age 59.
In 1944, U.S. heavy bombers staged the first full-scale American raid on Berlin during World War II.In 1953, Georgy Malenkov was named premier of the Soviet Union a day after the death of Josef Stalin. In 1964, heavyweight boxing champion Cassius Clay officially changed his name to Muhammad Ali.

All creatures great & small author
    Born today:
~ 1916 James Herriot, author and veterinarian. In 1966 at the age of 50 he began a series of much-beloved books loosely based on the people and animals he had known through his veterinarian practice. He took the title of the first book, All Creatures Great and Small, from a 19th-century Anglican hymn, and used the rest of the lines of the refrain for the next three books: All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Things Wise and Wonderful, and The Lord God Made Them All.
    Awesome

?~ Today’s Quote: “This old man had once told me that he left school when he was twelve, whereas I had spent most of the twenty-four years in my life in study. Yet when I looked back on the last hour or so I could come to only one conclusion. I’d had more of books, but he had more of learning.” ? James Herriot, All Things Wise and Wonderful

    Today’s fun from Odd:

Worship of Tools Day, Oatmeal Nut Waffle Day

    Worship of Tools day!

?~ Today’s Quote: “To the man who only has a hammer, everything he encounters begins to look like a nail.” ? Abraham Harold Maslow

    Waffles
    YUM!
Waffles became a popular baked treat during the Middle Ages. The original recipe called for just flour and water, so vendors sold waffles on the streets during the religious fasting season. Bakers branded the waffles with coats of arms, religious symbols, and the traditional honeycomb pattern we are accustomed to today. Eventually people began adding other ingredients like eggs, butter, milk, and honey. If you are looking for a healthier version of this already perfect breakfast classic….

    popsicles
?~ 1986 – Popsicle announced its plan to end the traditional twin-stick frozen treat for a flatter, one-stick model. Two sticks or one those Popsicles look like Spring to me.
    Sir Paul

?~ 1997 – Paul McCartney was knighted by the Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Hundreds of fans, some wearing T-shirts that read “Arise Sir Paul,” cheered his arrival and stayed outside the palace until he emerged.
    Have a terrific Tuesday!

    So many interesting things today:

JK, guess it’s “Doris Day” Day LOL – kudos to this wonderful caring star!

Never knew the origin of waffles – neat – imagine chomoing down on the family coat of arms LOL – do know that they are terrific when they are baked (Belgian frozen kind), then maple syrup poured on them, then reheated in micro – syrup soaks in and heats up yet they remain crusty.

    Love them black kitties Nirmal.

Oh and re that kit who “held family hostage”. First what a beauty! Second, I mentioned this story when I went to p/u Dorry’s food @ vet. Tech agreed, guy (I will not dignify him by referring to him as a purrent) is amazingly stupid, and a wuss! She told me that when a kitty is “acting out” as in doesn’t want to be at vet’s and is showing it, they do exactly what I suggested, put on the protective gloves, toss a fluffy towel on kitty and do the wrap and hold until it calms down.
