I second that emotion on the pics Kilroy – reminds me of Jiggs. He was such a wee thing and got so very big.

    Hi Commune!

Greeting all, it’s the last day of 2012 here in NZ.

How on earth can Abber Fishie be 4 years old already ! ! Happy Birthday Abbie.

It has dawned a fairly good day here, sunshine and the odd shower and quite windy. We’ve pulled all the carrots out of the garden, harvested a huge zucchini and ‘bandicooted’ our first potatoes for dinner this evening. Next is planting beetroot(beets) and more carrots.ng

ECB, sorry you’re feeling a bit under the weather.

Wow! love the fluffy shoulder cat.

Watching Jack Hanna with all the wild animals on CNN, there are some cool ones.

Evening Jan, sounds like you have been taking advantage of the weather to do lots of gardening.

Commune, wasn’t that Norwegian Forest Cat beautiful 🙂

Hope that everyone who is not feeling well gets better soon.

Hi Deb. I’m just putting my feet up while I can before dinner preparation and New Year Eve party. It’s a lovely hot sunny day now with gusty winds.

Cheddar sounds like a fun cat to have and it’s difficult to tell where the ‘best furiends’ begin and end.

MS, ‘bandicooting’ in your garden, means those little Marsupial creatures that steal fresh produce? …………. LOL!…… I’d bet those are the BEST fresh potatoes EVER!

….. I’m going to harvest my last collard and mustard greens tomorrow, and make a wonderful bean/collar/mustard/soup for new years………..I know we typically eat black eyed peas and greens, but this is a ‘my’ version of this! LOL……….. best of luck for 2013!!…. a lucky year, and I was born on the 13th of a month, so double lucky for me! 🙂

AV, you figured it out! Well done. Instead of digging the potatoes we just hand dug enough for a meal gently from under the plant and leave the rest growing. So in a way we were stealing from the plant.

I was supposed to be born on the 13th but we know how bad babies are at reading time tables.

Your soup sounds great. We’re all salads, cold meats and fresh fruits at the moment.

MS, that sounds fabulous!…. cold meats and salads are always our choice after the big “holiday” meals! ……my bean/hambone soup/greens will be served with fresh sliced tomatoes and probably fresh greeen bean/haricot vert…………. lighter side of our heavy Christmas meals!

We’ve had enough of big meals with having had two family Christmas dinners so New Years Day meal will be light. Tonight we’ll have snacks on hand to get us through to midnight and of course the 12 grapes to be eaten just as midnight arrives. Dee started us off on that a few years ago.

Off outside to plant carrot seeds now.

… the grapes, well, that would be our Dee’s Spanish roots! and God bless her! …… ( and I miss her ) ………. have a great and restful evening, I’m going to bed myself…. see everyone on the flip side!!

BB, I’m cool now that I have the fan on and the sun is slowly setting.

I have my carrot seeds in and watered, now it’s all up to Mother Nature.
