Hey everyone! So I have just been leaving a food bowl out with kitten food for my 6 week old kitten. Was just wondering if anyone had advice for a schedule like how much and how often to feed her.

Normally, a kit that age would be fed small meals more often. At least, 4-6 times a day until she graduates to fewer meals at about 6 months. I’m concerned about dry food though. Wet food has high protein and water while dry food is mostly carbohydrates. She needs the protein and water provided by wet food. If you’re not around for that many meals, purrhaps you can look into a timed feeder. That way the wet food won’t go bad and she’ll get what she needs to grow healthy.

I didn’t mention that she has been getting wet food too. Should I just alternate feedings like giving her wet at one time then dry at another?

Please continue with wet food because she still needs protein from wet food for awhile longer. Free feeding often leads to weight issues so if you leave some dry food out don’t leave a lot. At her age, 1/8 of a cup is sufficient for a day.
