If you raise them right! LOL

That’s an interesting question. Guess if you have to leave them alone for extend periods of time it’s good to leave tv or music on so they don’t feel lonely, especially an only kitty.

Our cats have always shown a preference for easy listening type classical music. But they do not like violin music that hits high notes; suspect it is hard on their ears. Believe it or not, some of the best responses to music multiple cats over the years have given is to such albums as Percy Faith, 101 Strings, and Mantovani. They also have done fairly well with classical symphonies.

However, I had one cat who would spit at the speakers whenever I played the album by the Singing Nun. LOL

the only classical music my cats hate is the 1812 overture, complete with cannons and fireworks…

Shadz has shown a preference for gentle Mozat,Chopin and the Strauss’s over my favourites of Tchaikovsky,Beethoven etc. She tolerates Vivaldi but definitely does not like ‘Winter’ of Four Seasons.

Mine do…I leave music on in my house all day so they can listen to it. But like GD says, they are much more interested in the singing birds outside my windows.

The late Sebastian was a huge Soundgarden fan.

My cats like ragtime. Their favorites are Joseph Lamb, Luckey Roberts, Clarence Wiley, and of course Scott Joplin. I keep trying to get them into more modern stride stuff like Fats Waller and Willy “The Lion” Smith, but Jelly Roll Morton is about as far as they’ll go.

They also like techno. A couple years ago they were going through a phase where they liked a lot of Rotterdam Gabber Techno, but now they’re mostly into classic Detroit techno and Chicago-style House music. Thank goodness they haven’t gotten sucked into that awful Dubstep fad!

They don’t really like classical music, but maybe they just haven’t been exposed to anything they’d like. I mostly play Béla Bartók around the house, which might be just a bit too sophisticated for them.

Hahaha Marnet! My kits enjoy soft, calming music. They do come ’round when I decide to play the piano or accordion & offer me their opinion as mewing ’til I stop…oyyy! (My kit Dot would go nutz when played the recorder too!)

Mine always are a very good audience when I sing. Often I will be rehearsing a song and will look down to see them both sitting side by side staring at me like they are trying to figure it all out.

I can tell you Theresa doesn’t like Shinedown but she likes it when I sing which I find funny because I don’t have a nice singing voice, it’s always a little flat. (I have a nice voice for speaking, just not for singing lol)
