oh, jroc, that is horrible! I’m so sorry for your daughter and her kits! I’m glad she’s safe now. I hope they catch whoever did this, and are punished in a suitable manner (and I’m thinking VERY unfluffy thoughts!)

    {{{JRoc, K, Jasper}}} {{{Simba, Callie}}}

Cousins Chinook, Shaddo and Jiggs, along with the official family ambassador, PJ, have welcomed Simba and Callie to the Meadow. They have made lots of friends and all they remember is K’s love for them.

I am so sorry for your pain. We who rescue animals can never understand why anyone would want to hurt them.

Emma, you describe the next life awaiting all of us in such crystal clarity. I write poems that allude to this future world, but while I see it from a distance, you seem to have actually been there. One thing we both see is continued existence with our loved ones, both human and animal.

JROC believe in this vision, there is truth in it.

Some lyrics of a song I wrote may help soothe a little.

    Love is never gone,

    It cannot pass away.

    It doesn’t move on,

    It’s here to stay

    If you’re very smart

You’ll keep them in your heart

And loved ones will never part

    Come what may.

When I think of them I see

    Past friends and family

    Just as they always were.

    We’ll be that way again

    In Heaven, my friend,

    On this you can depend

    I am sure.

We think that her neighbor did it. He may have had a key to her apartment from a previous tenant. They don’t change locks between tenants these days; too costly. The set up is that there are 2 apartments upstairs and 2 down. She has an upstairs apartment. The apartment below her may have still been empty since the guy was moving out the week I was there. The other couple downstairs may have been out every time, because of the day of the week. Everything happened on Tuesdays. Since the apartments have both a front and back view, the guy next to her would have a perfect view of her comings and goings. He would have heard her leave and return.

The guy is clearly sick to do this kind of thing and had some kind of sick enjoyment for doing this. My daughter termed him as being a loner. Simba was never loud or annoying and never out of the apartment. Little Callie was only there a few days. Jasper would have been next if they had stayed.

My daughter will move into a new apartment as soon as possible, but for now she and Jasper are safe and secure with a friend. She went to her apartment with friends to pick up a few things. Since nothing has been touched or taken, it is clear that the monster is waiting for her to return with Jasper. He also, most likely, saw when the police where there.

Things will develop in the weeks to come with the owner/manager returning and my daughter’s vacating the apartment. It depends on how much people want to pursue this crime. My daughter may want to just hide being too afraid to take this case to justice. And she now feels she must protect Jasper. She brought him into her home to give him a place to live and be cared for and about. She cannot take the chance that he could be hurt. She feels badly enough that she wasn’t there to protect Simba and Callie.

Let’s pray that she finds a safe place for herself and Jasper.

Oh, Jroc, how terrifying. I am so glad that she and Jasper are safe out of there. I would hope that the owner and police would pursue it — first, because there must be a very limited number of keys, so a limited number of suspects — second because anyone who does this to animals will move on to people. I would have thought the cops would be wanting to keep a VERY close eye on him.

JCAT, let us hope that the cops are watching and doing something about this not only for my daughter and Jasper but for all of our loved ones both human and four-legged.

I’m glad that I could bring a small measure of joy in a terrible situation. And I might add that your kind words brought tears to my eyes as well.

I’m glad your daughter had a friend she could go to for safety, Jroc. What a terrible, scary situation.

Wow Jroc, how scary for your daughter. Please let her know it wasn’t her fault but the fault of the landlord to not change the locks. I hope the police pursue this guy. Also, the landlord could be liable for not providing a safe place to live. Might consider damages against the landlord. I know it won’t bring Callie or Simba back but it would teach the landlord not to take security so lightly.

I am very glad that your daughter and Jasper are safe now. Hope they find a nice place to live.

My daughter and Jasper are safe in a new place. Jasper is so scared though. He hides in the cupboards. I hope when my daughter gets all of her furniture moved in, Jasper will feel more secure. My daughter had a dream about Callie last night. It was a good dream. I think Callie wanted her to know that she is okay now even though she cannot be with my daughter and Jasper.

Feral, thank you. Hugs back to you. I think Callie and Simba are doing okay with all their new friends. I hope all the fear and pain is completely out of their minds. I know this is not right, but I do hope that the person who did this will suffer for eternity, unless he makes it right.
