Me too and I didn’t have lunch. Guess it’s dogs for dinner.

You may have a lot of TDKers showing up on your doorstep, HM 🙂

I think I’m having popcorn for dinner. (yeah, yeah, yeah, I know…….)

Who’s got a Hot Dog on a Stick location near her (or him)? There’s not a single one in Ohio, and I used to go to one in Cleveland for a hot dog on a stick, a cheese on a stick, and (the best part) a lemonade.

I’m eating a Hebrew National dog w/chili, cheese, onions and mustard. Hmmmmmm, I can’t figure out why I had such a knackerin’ for them! 😉

Did anyone else eat this growing up? My Mother would slice a hot dog down it’s length, fill it with sliced American cheese, wrap it in bacon and then broil it in the oven? It was soooooo good!

Another thing she would do was press biscuit dough in a muffin tin, fill it with a sloppy Joe type meat (and I think she snuck a few veggies in there too!), top it with cheese and then bake it in the oven.

What ‘cool’ dinners did you eat growing up that you haven’t had in years?

Years ago Mr MS, some friends and I bought a couple of ‘foot long’ hot dogs from an ‘American Hot Dog’ shop. It was quite different to anything we had had before and I’m only guessing it was close to a genuine hot dog. There was plenty of onion and mustard on it from what I can remember. Roll on 30 odd years and Mr Ms, our girls and son in law were recently at a lake one evening and we cooked up hot dogs over a wee portable gas stove and popped them between lovely soft buns with a splurge of tomato sauce. Yummmmmmmm, and very warming on a cold evening.

Chili Cheese on dogs or sauerkraut on brats. If it’s at a cookout then relish and mustard and a grilled hot dog roll. Yummy YUM!

We have had house guests for a few days and, before I even saw this thread, I mentioned how much I like to have chili dogs at the ball park. Of course, that would be after my appetizer of Frito pie. And she told me that when her son was young she would grill tofu hot dogs for him. Seriously? No wonder he has issues….

Mmm, the German dog sounds good Joan! Plus what better way to celebrate the start of Summer w/your fave dog or bratwurst and a cold one! Here is brewtown’s way of doing it!

Taken from article found on yahoo:

MILWAUKEE – People can celebrate the beginning of summer in Milwaukee on Wednesday night with a free beer.

The giveaway happens at the new Estabrook Park Beer Garden.

Crews will tap a free keg of Summer Hofbrau at 6:00 p.m. at the park.

It marks the grand opening of the county’s first beer garden in a park since prohibition.

BTW Dogs as Bratwurst, big pretzels, etc are on the menu!

What’s really in that yuumy dog?!

    Found this article on Yahoo:

Hebrew National—the hot dog maker that has long claimed to “answer to a higher authority”—is being sued by a small group of consumers who say the company’s meats are falsely advertised as kosher.

According to Reuters, the lawsuit filed by 11 people in Minnesota against Hebrew National owner ConAgra Foods Inc. claims the company misled them in placing the “Triangle K” symbol on products that did not cut the mustard, so to speak, when it comes to standards for kosher labeling.

ConAgra, they say, was then able to charge premium prices for nonkosher meat.

AER, the Skokie, Illinois-based company that supervises the kosher slaughtering process, “did little or nothing” to address complaints that the meat processed for ConAgra was nonkosher, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs, who are seeking unspecified damages, want class-action status for all Hebrew National U.S. consumers over the last four years, according to the news service.

AER dismissed the claims as baseless. And ConAgra, which also owns Chef Boyardee, Healthy Choice, Peter Pan and Reddi-wip, said its hot dogs are kosher.

“While we can’t comment on pending litigation,” ConAgra spokeswoman Teresa Paulsen said in a statement on Monday, “we stand behind the quality of Hebrew National and its kosher status.”

On its website, Hebrew National explains the “kosher difference”:

Worthington has a great vegetarian hotdog that is very popular with my husband and his family! First time I had a Vega-link, I was sceptical. It only taste similiar to a hotdog when you have the “stuff” on it! My husband eats it right out of the can and LOVES it. My daughter, who isn’t really fond of hotdogs, stuck on in her mouth and choked! She wasn’t very fond of them at all! Must rate up there with the ever popular tofu dog!
