Henry http://catoftheday.com/ is quite the handsome boy, he is an Egyptian Mau about 9 months old in Rhode Island.

Morning to everyone, the stripey kits are bringing this mid-week buffet to everyone (someone had to find them a job, they are way too frisky this morning). They have “skills” in finding food that one’s heart desires this morning, so just let them know >^..^<

I am having just a bagel w/cream cheese, tomato and a red onion slice and a nice glass of ice water with lime slices in it πŸ™‚

BTW I put the date in the topic title because I found that it was a little bit hard to find some threads over a year old the other day….over a year old all it has for the time frame is 1 year ago, 2 years ago, etc….

    Just a tidbit of history….

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this date in 1967 a U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a Virginia law banning inter-racial marriage was unconstitutional.

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967) was a landmark civil rights decision of the United States Supreme Court which invalidated laws prohibiting interracial marriage.

The case was brought by Mildred Loving, a black woman, and Richard Loving, a white man, who had been sentenced to a year in prison in Virginia for marrying each other. Their marriage violated the state’s anti-miscegenation statute, the Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited marriage between people classified as “white” and people classified as “colored.” The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision held this prohibition was unconstitutional, overturning Pace v. Alabama (1883) and ending all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States.

The decision was followed by an increase in interracial marriages in the U.S., and is remembered annually on Loving Day, June 12. It has been the subject of two movies as well as songs.

They had very appropriate names πŸ™‚ its mind boggling to think that it really wasn’t all that long ago when this stuff happened just crazy!

Buttons I know, I got married in 1976 and because of this ruling we had no problems at all….well except his mother didn’t want to give her consent because he was just shy of 21 yrs old, lol.

    This sounds good πŸ™‚

    Crockpot Bacon Cheese Potatoes

    Ingredients

1/4 pound bacon, diced Γ’β‚¬β€œ I bake it first in the oven so that it is Ò€œdoneÒ€ and browned then I dice it and place in the crock pot.

    2 medium onions, thinly sliced

4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (or if you use a new potato or Yukon gold then halve)

1/2 pound cheddar cheese, thinly sliced (shredded is fine)

    salt and pepper

    butter

    Green Onions (optional)

    Instructions

Line crockpot with foil, leaving enough to cover the potatoes when finished Γ’β‚¬β€œ this will help to not stick and to steam the potatoes Γ’β‚¬β€œ also to keep them from getting discolored or mushy.

Layer half each of the bacon, onions and potatoes in the crockpot.

Season to taste with salt and pepper and dot with (real) butter.

Repeat layers of bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese. Dot with butter.

    Cover with remaining foil.

Cover and cook on low for up to 6 hours (check at 4 hours Γ’β‚¬β€œ depending on your crock pot).

Add cheese for the last 20 Γ’β‚¬β€œ 30 minutes and enjoy!

Hi Deb & Buttons. Henry sure is a cutie! The crockpot bacon & cheese potatoes sound downright dangerous – I do believe I would eat the entire thing in one sitting!

BB & I were talking about dating threads the other day. It’s a good idea, especially to mark certain occasions. How often have I thought, ‘Deb posted something I wanted to try a few days ago’ and next thing I know it’s been a couple of weeks.
