Hello Everyone! I stumbled on to this website by accident, but I must say it was so lovely I just had to join <3. My name is Meagan, but everyone just calls me Meg. I’m 20 (well technically 19, but my b-day is in a few months so I just cut out the middle man). And I have this LOVELY little ten day old kitten named Luna. I rescued her when she was only five or six hours old. Her mother was giving birth to her outside of my sister’s work place in a trash can (wild cat that her and her co-workers fed) but her boss decided to call the animal control service but since where I live we don’t have a no-kill shelter my sister did not want to give the mother and babies a death sentence, when the Animal Control pulled up she told them she will take the mother and babies home with her. So she took them home and placed her in the shed for the time being and my sister went back to work. Well she didn’t realize that moving the mother cat would be very distressful for her, so the mother rejected her one already born kitten after removing the fluid sack, but had not cleaned her or removed the afterbirth let alone let her suckle for the first time and she did not care for the rest letting them suffocate in their fluid sack. So when my sister got off work to find out what had happened, devastated she immediately called me, since I had previous experience nursing four newborn orphaned puppies after their mother died and two squirrels when theirs died and I’ve been successful(surprisingly since I have no clue what I’m doing). We tried to get the mom to take care of the kitten (Luna) but she wanted nothing to do with her so I decided to take her in as my baby. I even tried to introduce her to my one year old feral female named Jiji, but Jiji wanted nothing to do with her. We eventually gained Luna’s mother’s trust enough to let us take her to the nearest No-Kill shelter in another town, and fortunately she has been adopted to a loving home.

Luna is doing FANTASTIC today at a nice healthy size at ten days old. And she never seizes to amaze me especially with her will power. We thought for sure she wouldn’t make it passed the first day. But today she is as strong as ever.

I just thought this would have been the best place to share her story!

I look forward to making new friends through our love for our kitties and reading about everyone’s amazing stories as well!

    Thank you! <3

    Love, Meg.

Hi Meg and welcome to TDK. Bless you and your sister for looking after the kitten and finding a no-kill shelter for her mother. It definitely sounds like you are a great foster mum to wee animals. Luna is very lucky to have you for a Meowmy.

I’m Moonshadow(MS) and I live in New Zealand and that delightful cat in my avatar is the furry Moonshadow. At this moment she is cured up asleep on her humans sisters bed.

I just know that the other TDKers will love reading your story and hearing more about Luna.

Thank you everyone! I will post her pictures as soon as I can figure out how lol. She’s all white and her left eye just peeked open today! right now she is sick, and I have no idea what is wrong. She went from happy loud and lively, to quiet, slow and not eating. I’m doing everything I can to find out what to do for her.

Welcome Meg and Luna! I hope Luna is doing better and that her poop problem has resolved. You will need to get her to the vet very soon to have her checked out too. Good luck and hope to see updates!
