My cat has a slight heart murmur and the vet didn’t know what to do. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the delay in answering. Other than monitoring your kit to make sure it doesn’t get worse, there isn’t anything that can be done. My guy had a murmur when he was less than 6 months old but now, at 4, the murmur is gone.

My cat is 11 now and sleeps most of the day. She does play some. Her heart murmur is very slight and so far hasn’t gone away. How long does it to grow out of a heart murmur? Thanks for responding.

Most heart murmurs are identified during routine checkups. If her vet. didn’t feel it was bad enough to warrant further tests, then she should be fine. If the murmur is something new then you’ll want ask about testing for cardiomyopathy which can occur in middle and geriatric cats. Naturally, there are a few tests that can be done but it doesn’t sound like she needs any of those tests.

Your best bet is to have a sit down talk with her vet. If you’re not happy with that talk, then get a second opinion.

Sleeping a lot, in and of itself, is not a symptom. If she hasn’t had any change in her behavior or eating habits then keep up the great work.

OK thanks. She doesn’t eat as much as you did when she was a kitten.

    Seems to be doing better.

That’s good. She’s about 60 so slowing down is usual. You’ve been a pair for many years, love and play are the best answers. I guess she’s your avatar and beautiful girl.

She is.If you look at the picture above my name you will see her picture. So she is 60 in kitty years?

She’s almost eligible for Social Security. ๐Ÿ™‚

I want to collect when I’m of age. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m pleased and Happy to say that I just had my cat, Daisy Mae to the vet and they were able to give her a steroid shot and a antibiotic shot which means no more heart murmur. yeah!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so happy. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Daisy Mae thanks you too. ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
