In the United States, Navy Day is commonly celebrated on October 27th. This date was selected as it was the birth date of President Theodore Roosevelt, an avid supporter of the U.S. Navy.
On this Special Day give some well deserved attention to the proud U.S. Navy, and to all those who serve!

Sailors and cats have a special relationship that dates back thousands of years. It is likely that the ancient Egyptians were the first seafarers to realize the true value of having cats as shipmates. In addition to offering sailors much needed companionship on long voyages, cats provided protection by ridding ships of vermin. Without the presence of cats, a crew might find their ship overrun with rats and mice that would eat into the provisions, chew through ropes and spread disease. The more superstitious sailors believed that cats protected them by bringing good luck.

    It’s Friday-Shore leave! 😛 😆

We’re saw “Only the Brave” yesterday. It breaks my heart knowing how much they meant to the community and America.

We’re going to see “Thank you for your Service.”

    Cya and Have a happy~

They are adorable KJ! I guess I missed stopping into the cafe yesterday! I answered some SOS questions from peeps needing help early yesterday morning while Avery was sleeping, then realized I forgot to drop by the cafe… 😥

Well, it’s a gorgeous day and much warmer than yesterday’s low of 26*!!! Whew, that was nippy! BUT we are to get rain tonight and tomorrow with a chance of flurries! WHAT!? I shouldn’t be surprised as most Halloween trick or treat nights that I remember have been warm and balmy, or freezing cold with rain, or snow, or windy…..this is the time of year that is most unpredictable like spring. Which is why it’s the most like MS’ weather I think!

Loving the Navy kitties! My dad was in the Navy too, a WWII pilot. My brother was in the Navy too. He commanded nuc subs.

I had a busy couple of days at work, but happy to be home now! Tomorrow looks to be a nice day, but a nor’easter-like storm is moving in on Sunday, which coincidentally is the 5 year anniversary of superstorm sandy.

I thought the kitteners with Navy ties might like this story. I didn’t know Navy ships still got stuck in the ice; guess the ice must be throughout much of the Great Lakes system so a Canadian icebreaker breaking the ship out wouldn’t be much use!
