Geez, I love this site. My boxer (well, it’s joint custody between me and my brother 😉 lol) has HORRIBLE allergies to just about everything (including our beloved kitties!). In all my research and all our vet visits, I have never heard of aloe juice! We do rub his body down with aloe gel (especially the hot spots he gets around his neck and armpits). I will definitely be trying the aloe juice out!
My knowledge on allergies is very dog-related, so I’m not sure how much help I can be. For instance, dogs with allergies are extremely prone to ear infections and yeast infections (I have countless tips for these) but I don’t know if either of those are a problem for cats.
One thing I can say is that a raw diet had a fabulous improvement on Lucky (the unlucky Boxer’s) skin condition, since there’s no wheat, soy, corn, preservatives and all that stuff that can affect animals with skin sensitivities. Of course, I know this option isn’t appealing to everyone, so alternatively a high quality, high protein and no grain brand (ziwipeak, orijen, oven baked, etc) could help.
Environmental allergies are the really tough ones to manage. You can’t control the world. Dealing with allergies is a constant battle, I’ve learned. Has Venus been tested? Knowing what she’s allergic to is incredibly helpful for keeping her environment as allergen-free as possible.
Here’s a link with some anecdotal information that might prove helpful or maybe comforting: http://www.ibdkitties.net/allergytesting.html
I’ll check back if I think of anything else!
