Hi MS – sounds like you need a break from your surroundings. Nice to have company on the patio. Glad HRH is happy now, what frightful weather you have there. One of the many things that bothers me about winter is wind blowing down the chimney.
Nephew kitties are fed and cared for, Mac has a full tummy and my duo picked at their dinner.
The locals are playing live music down by the pool; I can hear them from my house. They are good, so I don’t bother with turning on the radio. Nice to have some background music while I read.

Geez, I love this site. My boxer (well, it’s joint custody between me and my brother 😉 lol) has HORRIBLE allergies to just about everything (including our beloved kitties!). In all my research and all our vet visits, I have never heard of aloe juice! We do rub his body down with aloe gel (especially the hot spots he gets around his neck and armpits). I will definitely be trying the aloe juice out!

My knowledge on allergies is very dog-related, so I’m not sure how much help I can be. For instance, dogs with allergies are extremely prone to ear infections and yeast infections (I have countless tips for these) but I don’t know if either of those are a problem for cats.

One thing I can say is that a raw diet had a fabulous improvement on Lucky (the unlucky Boxer’s) skin condition, since there’s no wheat, soy, corn, preservatives and all that stuff that can affect animals with skin sensitivities. Of course, I know this option isn’t appealing to everyone, so alternatively a high quality, high protein and no grain brand (ziwipeak, orijen, oven baked, etc) could help.

Environmental allergies are the really tough ones to manage. You can’t control the world. Dealing with allergies is a constant battle, I’ve learned. Has Venus been tested? Knowing what she’s allergic to is incredibly helpful for keeping her environment as allergen-free as possible.

Here’s a link with some anecdotal information that might prove helpful or maybe comforting: http://www.ibdkitties.net/allergytesting.html

I’ll check back if I think of anything else!

Just letting the regulars from way back know that KK’s Ringo has turned up after being missing for several weeks.
“Ringo is alive! Was sitting on sofa with Dara on my lap and next minute cat door opened and Ringo was beside my feet. Took me a moment to realise and when I squealed he ran out. He sat on fence next door and slowly came back towards house but hasn’t come in. We’ve put his bowl out and called and rattled cat biscuits and cat brush. Hope he will slowly come back soon.”
    Such good news.

He is inside being pampered now. He was hungry. KK says he is a bit thinner.

Oh I feel like an idiot MS! I’m sitting here crying… I just so happy ringo is back.. He reminds me so much of Nutini and I was gutted when I heard he was missing… It’s about time we had so good news on TDK .. That’s just made my week!!! Silly Ringo!

ECB I hope your able to unwind and relax with family. A change of scenery might be a good idea and at least you don’t have to worry about kitties..

Hey Emily 🙂 how weird is this! I have a female brindle Boxer called BoBo and she has sever allergies! And bad ear conditions too.. I’ve learnt a lot over the years when it comes to skin allergies.. 🙂

Her ears have to be cleaned several times a week in the spring/summer period! Her pollen allergies flare up her ere issues! I don’t give her Aloe Vera but she does get sprinkling Turmeric in her food daily because of her arthritis and it’s a very good anti-inflammatory so a good side effect is it reduces her skin irritation also cod liver oil is very good for calming skin irritation so she gets that too.. Combined it helps ease her allergies and she Scratches a lot less and her tummy isn’t red from allergies any more ..

I also have a cat (Bob) with food allergies so I’ve had to but him on a dry food diet ( not my preferred diet for a cat) it’s what keeps him comfortable so we have no choice but to give him dry ..

I always wondered where everybody went on the weekends, now I know!! You guys disappear (:-) ) and would someone please send Hazel over here. I did the *cat hair knock-down* yesterday, but didn’t make it upstairs…..Oh, and guess what? I even took a swipe at the fountain so I think I’m gonna like it here! What a wonderful, stress free place to hang out and talk cat, and other stuff too. Why do cats scare us by hiding/not answering our calls like that!? EC- any news on the lead on Lucy? I think about her so often….

    Hello again!
Buttons, even weirder: my Goomba (we call him that more than Lucky since he looks like one of those mushrooms from Mario Brothers) is a brindle too! Unfortunately for him and Bobo, boxers are prone to these kinds of problems. He didn’t come from a good background either, so not much care went into his breeding 🙁

Thanks so much for those tips; I’ve got turmeric lying around so I can definitely add that into the mix. Right not he’s getting oregano (both oil and dried herb) as that counter attacks yeast infections. I’ll run out this weekend for the cod liver oil. He’ll be happy about that — he’s got a palate for sea food. 😉 He adores every kind of fish.
