I’ve had my kitten since she was 2 weeks old. She just turned 8 weeks and the vet still won’t give her a flea treatment! She is just under one pound and he wants her to be at least 2 pounds before she has any. I’m sure he thinks its best for her but I’m just afraid these fleas are gonna suck all the blood out of her and kill her. Its so aggravating.

She has had a lot of issues since she was born and was the runt of my neighbor’s litter if you’re wondering why she’s so tiny. The mom cat rejected her so I took her in. She has two different sized pupils and had a neck scar the neighbor said was there since birth.

You can wash your baby with Dawn dish soap and get a flea comb from the vet or anywhere. Make sure the water isn’t too cold or hot and rinse well. Dawn kills fleas, and then you can comb out the ones you see along with the dirt and the eggs. Dry her with a towel and a blow dryer on warm not too hot. Most kittens don’t mind baths and the more they have the easier it is to give them one. Try not getting water in her ears or nose. You can use a cloth that’s damp to wash around her face area. This should help until she’s old enough for flea meds. Frontline makes a spray that I have used on kittens under 12 weeks, I spray it on and massage through the hair with plastic gloves on.

There are many natural flea treatments available too!
My kits have had allergic reactions to some of the products. Now only use the natural, non as toxic products.

The Advantage kitten flea med is supposed to be for 8 weeks and up and under 5 pounds. :/ I bought Dawn but fleas just get back on her

I too took a kitten home from outside when he was just 2 weeks. I would bathe him every other day with warm water in a small tub and dawn soap. Then I would comb the fleas out with a flea comb. It didn’t exactly kill them all at once, but it calmed the itch down until the next bath day. Just bathe her every other day with dawn and vacuum if she’s been on any carpeting to get rid of any fleas lurking around 🙂

Great advice Madian! Yes, put a flea collar in vacuum bag to kill existing fleas that are still lurking in home. Fleas in all areas as carpet, furniture, bedding, drapes all need to be cleaned/destroyed. Otherwise they produce more eggs & hatch next cycle. Know it’s a challenge but can be done! Good luck on task!
