Cannot believe it’s ALREADY December!!! where has the year gone??!!??

…… the kitties are busy setting up the buffet, with any and everything you may want, and cooking fresh fritattas and waffels to order……….

…… we thought we’d have an ‘idea’ day today – what are your thoughts for Christmas or Hanukkah gifts????? ….. shopping on line? or fighting the crowds? perhaps being ‘crafty’ and making something special?? ….. please share your thoughts and inspirations!

    Morning AV!

On the off chance that MS pops in, I have an answer for a question she asked on yesterday’s cafe thread; no, the dangling crane above 57th Street hasn’t been removed yet. It’s been secured more firmly to the building, but no idea when it’s going to be taken down.

I’m happy to report that the movie version of “Les Miserables” is SPECTACULAR. Hugh Jackman & Anne Hathaway deserve Oscars, they’re both totally heartbreaking, and who knew she could sing? Russell Crowe was very good, not the best Javert I’ve seen but very good. The only thing that didn’t really work was the 1 new song written for the movie; it didn’t need to be there and it just didn’t work. Otherwise I don’t have enough words for how awesome the movie is. Warning, though, if you go to see it, it’s LONG. But it moves along really well.

Hi ya Kilroy!………… oh, I might have to go see that today…….. Mr. AV is actually in NYC, he was so dissappointed to find out that Miss Liberty is still closed because of Sandy, but sent me a nice pic of him standing in Times Square……….

…… a WARM (80) day here, I’m being lazy this morning and snuggling with Abby, but I’ll get going soon, I’ve got a lot of errands to do!…….. tonight I’m making my favorite shrimp and parmasean risotto (two things Mr. AV doesn’t like), and a good friend is coming over for a glass of vino and a chat…… hope everyone’s weekend is relaxing!

Hi AV & Kilroy! Glad you enjoyed the movie, Kilroy.

I have to go out shopping today. Would rather stay in – the house is a mess. I had a procedure the other day so I haven’t been able to do much.

Shopping will be local – I don’t do malls. Got an email from a farm that has a little gift shop. Sounds interesting – will let you know if I get there & what they have.

AV, the movie doesn’t actually open until Christmas Day, we were able to get tickets to a preview (which was hugely oversold and a total madhouse). The funny thing was, as I was fighting my way through the mob to get our tickets I ran into (or got squashed up against) someone I know from the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament – how’s that for a random NYC moment? Speaking of the Big Apple, hope Mr. AV has time to enjoy it a bit, how long is he here for?

    Morning Joan!

Morning, all! Got up at 7, on my only day off in forever – but hey, at least I’m not wasting the day sleeping, right?

I’m preparing for the Christmas tree. I usually don’t get it this early, but I’m going to be busy this month and I don’t want to rush it. And I’ll have dogs here from tomorrow to the 9th, and don’t really want their “help” setting up the tree 🙂

So just spent an hour rearranging furniture, worked up a sweat, scared the cats – and now the furniture is back where it started! Decided to move the boys’ kitty castle instead, and put the tree there. Things would have been a lot easier if I’d had that thought a lot earlier!

Next on the agenda is going out to get the tree, stop at Michaels for some clay I need to make the candle decoration I make every year, then get it all home, set up the tree, and have GG over to make the candle decorations and eat some æbleskiver (a Danish tradition at Christmas time, they are sort of like ball-shaped pancakes, that you eat with powdered sugar and or jam).

….. Kilroy, I didn’t realize it hadn’t opend yet – I’ve seen the advertisements, but I don’t keep up with when things come out LOL!

….. Mr. AV is in NYC until tomorrow……….. he’s got appointments, but has some free time to sight see……….

Morning kits…having a quiet morning at home. Jamie is dragging things off the table and generally being a troublemaker. Jesse (my momz dog) is trying to nap in his bed. Mom is cooking breakfast…I won’t tell her the frittatas I had by the kitty chefs was so nummy 🙂

I did a bit of that crazy black Friday shopping and have been buying online. Pretty much done..just one left for the family gift exchange once they tell us who we have to buy for.

Have a great day (or what’s left of it for some)!!!

AV, I’m going to be exhausted by the end of the day – but ready to enjoy the season.

Got my tree, and stopped at Michael’s for clay, etc. In the parking lot, I somehow managed to set off the car alarm I didn’t know I had – and had a heck of a time turning it back off, since the fob thingie doesn’t work most of the time. But it got the attention of the lady next to me, who looked over, saw my pet-sitting door magnet, and asked for a card. She’s going away next Friday!

I may start setting off my alarm in busy parking lots more often!

Got the tree home, and in the stand. Now taking a lunch break before the worst part – putting on the lights. I hate that!

Then it’s shower, and time to make æbleskiver. Phew!

    Wow GD, that sounds delish!

I went down the mountain instead of up – there’s a gas station there 🙂

Got a wreath for the front door from the Boy Scouts and did a few errands. I wanted to get home to stoke the fire so it wouldn’t go out, which made Miss Leela happy – she’s got the front and center seat! Tommy was waiting for me too; he made a nest in some leaves but when I came home he came to the back door so I fed him. He’s so adorable – he must have been the most adorable orange kitten ever (except for our Georgie, of course!).

Think I will try to get uptown tomorrow. Also the garden center a few miles down the mountain is having an open house that I would like to get to.

    Has anyone seen Hazel?

If I see Hazel I’ll send her your way, Joan. I wish I had seen/known Georgie from a kitten; I’m pretty sure he must have been adorable, plus I think we’d have gotten off on the right foot(paw?)
