One year I was 2nd violin in an orchestra playing Peter Maxwell Davies’ “An Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise”. There is a part representing a rainstorm, and the 2nd v. part (harmony) consists of these repeated high, falling runs. Admittedly, not the most pleasant to listen to, especially when they are being played over and over and over, trying to get the notes right! Zappo used to like to hang out and see what the humans were doing. But he fled the room when I practiced that piece! Now, so did my husband, and when I was a child my dad didn’t care to listen to me practice either…so I can’t blame him. Good thing I have a day job!
My dad had a relative whose cat hated a certain kind of music, I forget which. She turned it on and he would run yowling through the room!
