If you know nothing else, you know the name Bob Marley, who brought us the best of Reggae and introduced us to Jamaican Culture. He was a Reggae artist with deep spiritual roots and a history in Ska and rocksteady music. International Reggae Day celebrates this Jamaican music style, and brings it to those unfortunates in the world who have yet to experience it. Bob Marley was cool, so cool and kits totally relate to cool.

It’s Caterday and a purrfect day to get high…or not…or maybe! Get out your Reggae or Ska music and dance along with music. 😆
    Have a happy ~

I literally just saw the word Elska less than 5 minutes ago! It was suggested as the name for a cat with a brown heart on her nose.

Yay, Reggae day and Caturday on the same day….!!!!!! Oh I am so lazy today. Got up, ate breakfast, went to sit back in my recliner with coffee and read the paper and fell asleep again until dau called me. But it was just the most wonderful feeling–I guess because I don’t ever get to do it!

Had some showers here yesterday evening, the garden could really use it. I have two cucumber hills and one has plants coming up and the other hill I have planted 3 times and still can’t get a plant to come up. I wonder what’s eating the seeds? Do ants eat seeds?

Ya mon – everything gonna be alright!
Lazy day here too, though I did get out to plant some petunias I bought.
Just watched Joey Chestnut win the annual hot dog eating contest. Pretty gross really, but it wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without it!
Taking care of niece’s cats, Theo and Moe, today through next Saturday. Theo has been a bit of a stinker lately, thinking he wants to be outside. Please be good for Aunt Joan, Theo!

You miss how nice it is to sleep in and lounge around until do again, huh KZ. Ahh…purzz

I watch that annual hot dog contest and every year I wonder “why?” Not only why do I watch it but why do they do it. I guess everyone has a talent to showcase. 🙄 I’m going to plant some more petunias too.

Alright Theo, you need to mind Aunt Joan. Remember she’s got the noms!

I learned that they sell a cannabis cream that helps with painful stuff. I’ll settle for not caring if I is painin’ mon

An update – Miss Moppet is feeling much better. I think it was my fault. She wants grass when I come in from the back yard. I guess I picked up a weed that was bad for her. 🙁

PG, does aforementioned hot dog contest have anything to so with how many “dogs” contestants can ingest? I’d give watching that that a miss LOL.

Glad that Miss Moppet is getting back to her purrself! Do I hear grass? Weed?

Speaking of which here’s my musical contribution to this part of today’s Café!

Wow-I’ve never heard the first song, thanks!

    It wasn’t peeps catnip. 😆

Yes, KJ – they eat hot dogs and buns. Joey Chestnut has won 14 contests. He also set a record last month when he ate 73 1/2 hot dogs and buns during a qualifying event. If you throw up you’re disqualified.

    I am so disqualified!

PG, that version is the “real” version of the song. The srsly watered down version is “Pass the Dutchie” by Musical Youth. Supposedly it’s “de rigeur” to pass the spliff to the left in a circle. Should I find myself at a Reggae session (not likely) guess I can check this out purrsonally. 😉

Joey Chestnut – well he does have food related moniker. I could throw up just contemplating the event. Yes, “Why?” 🙄

The Musical Youth version was watered down because having children singing about smoking weed – or anything – probably wouldn’t pass censorship.

A Dutchie is a small iron cast oven used in many parts of Africa and the African diaspora; it is a potjekos or potje (little cookinng pot) in South Africa. Actually the “bowdlerized” song is biting in its own way with its refrain “how does it feel when you’ve got no food”, a reference to extreme poverty.

Cannabis is set to become legal in Canada by a year from now; I’ve reached the point where I’m more interested in its medicinal uses (for arthritis); this is already legal here though there are still some issues about supply. Legislators, legal experts, police forces and health care workers have to grapple with some of the obvious problems to be solved, such as how can it be proven that someone is over the legal limit for driving or operating machinery.

I’m pleased about the plan, though, as I know too many people who have a record for smoking or carrying weed when they were very young, in the hippie era. It isn’t a matter of wanting people to be stoned. I’m against alcohol prohibition as well, and it certainly isn’t a matter of wanting them to be drunk. Addiction is a very serious problem (now the most lethal drugs are synthetic opiods), but I think it is better addressed as a health issue, and getting stuff out of the hands of organised crime.
