    Hey! Im new here! Just got my kitten today! so excited.

    anyways. I am way too impatient to wait until the vet visit next week to find out if its a boy or girl!

    does anybody know for sure how to figure this out?

    look at the back end, if the pee pee hole is round then its probably a boy and girls have little slits, that is how I always did it and I am pretty accurate

    where’d ya get a kitten that you dont know the sex of it? I would never take in an animal without knowing the sex

    Hi, Melissa. Welcome to TDK! I’ve heard people say that the back end of a female looks like an upside down exclamation point and the back end of a male looks like a semi-colon! lol I’m sure you will love your new kitten no matter which gender it is, but it would help you to find a good name if you knew.

    I quite often get this the wrong way round but I’m sure someone will correct me if I do…! All cats have two little ‘butt holes’ on their bum, when you lift up their tails (note the technical language). In a girl they’re close together, in a boy they’re far apart… If kitty’s fluffy, good luck!

    Looks like you typed female both times 🙂 haha.

    I will get a picture up tomorrow hopefully! I have only taken a picture from my phone and it doesnt look very good, bad quality.

    I think my kitten is getting irritated, I keep looking at its butt while its sleeping. It’s pretty hard to tell. But..I think its a male? lol thanks for your help!

    Hedheheh up semi colon’s and exclamantion marks! Boys are further apart because of tiny teste sacs!

    What color is your kitten? Does he seem to be very active or more laid back? These characteristics can help you come up with a name if you haven’t already picked one.

    Lol..actually it has been! I found a flea on him earlier and had to give him his first bath a couple hours ago

    He looks like your cat Digit. He’s not wild but when I brought him to his new home he wouldnt stop moving for anything, he had to smell everything…twice. He is very playful, but when I put him on my chest while Im laying down, he instantly goes to sleep.

    I’m pretty sure he’s a male, so I can start picking names out. Definitely excited for that!

    Yay! You might also need a flea comb. (Over the counter flea remedies not great for kittens.) Look forward to piccies!

    He sounds wonderful, Melissa. There is nothing like having a kitten falling asleep on your chest. I hope he is a source of great joy to you for many years to come. 🙂 Digit got her name because she has extra toes (six on each paw whereas the norm is five on the front paws and four on the back). Both of our kits sleep with us at night. They are especially nice to have there when it gets cold in the Winter!

    Even a big kitten who one day may smother ya! heheheh My MaxMax holds me hostage every morning for 5 to 15 minutes laying on my chest for cuddles and pets and scritches!

    How about Lewis or Clark the exploeres heheheh!

    He’ll move, Melissa. If you are worried, put him up by your pillow. There will be less chance of you rolling onto him. Or, you can build him a little nest with a towel. Haven’t heard of anyone here squishing their kitten in bed while sleeping. 🙂

    Nope me neither and i would be a prime canidate to do it! I am very active and restless and quite the mover in my sleep!
