Ok, so a couple questions. I have recently discovered that Riley seriously loves bananas. I was eating one by her she literally stopped in her tracks smelling and bolted up my body to start pawing at it LOL. I gave her some very tiny bites (after checking google if it was toxic or not) and she did fine with it but I’m just wondering if anyone else out there has a kitty that loves bananas or fruit. Another question. Riley is 6 weeks (approximately) now and in 2 weeks we have our apt to get all of her needed shots and hopefully microchipped. My husband and I agree that getting another cat is important to us and for Riley since she lost not only her mama but her sibling so young. We are wondering when we should adopt and how old the second cat should be. I was thinking around 3-4 months since we could find a kitten the same age easily in a shelter, but then I also think it might be good to adopt an older cat to “show her the ropes” and because kittens are so often the first adopted leaving plenty kind gentle adult kitties behind. Thoughts? I’d appreciate any advice! 🙂

Congrats on the kitten! I think a lot of cats like some unusual, food wise. My cat loves freshly-baked fortune cookies. Won’t touch the pre-packaged kind, they have to be from the bakery.

This guy’s cat loves cucumber: http://catcode.com/catblog_p1.html

I’ve heard a few people saying their cats go crazy for kalamata olives (mine don’t). A friend of mine has a girl-cat that loves tomato sauce.

As for adopting a second cat, I personally would get another kitten. An older cat could find your kitten’s energy exhausting, a youngster will be more fun for the little one to play with. Also, it is much easier to socialize young kittens.

Very true about getting another kitten due to energy and ease of socializing…thanks! 🙂

My Luna loved tomatoes and all of my cats love mashed potatoes. For carnivores, these cats sure have strange favorite foods.

I had a cat that liked the tomato/brown sugar/dry mustard topping on my meatloaf! Not the meatloaf, just the topping. And my first cat seriously loved yogurt: she would get in my lap and grab my hand to bring the spoon into licking range. I figured that was because yogurt is like milk. I never could figure out the allure of the meatloaf topping (although it is my favorite way to make meatloaf, maybe he just took after his mom…) My diva calico loved store-bought donuts: we found the cello window on the box with holes in it, and after spying, discovered it was Missy trying to help herself.
Now my Jes doesn’t want anything except Friskies canned/pate, or when that is gone, he will nibble on Friskies dry. Won’t even try other Friskies wet varieties, or gourmet or healthy brands.

Our last cat loved canned brined mushrooms as did our dog. The dog loved apple, pears and bananas and would take the grapes right off the bunch on the vine.
Shadz loves cheese but we limit how much she gets.

I had a cat that loved quickbreads of any flavor – banana, zuchini, etc – he ate right through 2 layers of plastic wrap once to get at it. Another liked traditional white bread. A friend of mine has a cat that loves carrots and the hard crunchy parts of romaine lettuce!

As for a second kitty, definitely not an older cat but kitten up to 3years old would probably have the energy to deal with the kitten.
