Hi everyone!my month old kitten seems to be breathing okay but his throat goes in and out with each of his breaths. it doesn’t look normal but he seems normal since he is playing a lot, eats a lot and uses to restroom regularly. his meow has also changed, it’s now hard to hear him sometimes and he’all usually meow better after he’s eaten. i took him to the ER yesterday and wanted to charge me $700 for everything that he needed. i’m looking around to see who also gives x rays without charging an arm and a leg. last time he had this issue, he had a cold and antibiotics helped him! this was about two/three weeks ago. but it’s come back. is it something i should really be worried about if he seems normal?

Call the humane society and ask them if they can help or if they can refer you. Purrhaps they know of a low cost vet. Maybe emergency vet. will set up a payment plan or let you “work” the costs off by volunteering. In the meantime, keep an eye on him.

    Hi Nataly,

How’s your wee kit? Did you find out why his breathing is so strange?

    Hi Nataly.
First of all, if your vet said he had a cold, and then gave him antibiotics, I’d find a new vet. Antibiotics do NOT work on colds, or any other virus. If the antibiotics helped, then it wasn’t a cold, and they should try to find out exactly which bug is causing his symptoms so they can provide proper treatment. It’s possible the first round didn’t kill it all off, and it just came back. It’s also possible the bug he has is resistant to the medicine they gave him. Good luck, hope ur baby is ok!!
