Please meet and greet today’s Star Kit, Shadow. He is 2 months and 2 weeks old from Saudi Arabia.
Hello everyone. I recently had this kitten 2 weeks ago and ever since that I took him to the vet 3 times just to check on him every time I suspect something is wrong. He’s totally fine except for ear mites that will be treated further this week. He had his first deworming two weeks ago but didn’t finish his plate so I had to throw it, I gave him his second round of deworming two days ago. He eats really good and actually more than good.. he eats a lot, body temperature is fine, plays plenty of time and sleeps just fine except that he has diarrhea and the veterinarian gave him some medicines for it.
But, he has a big belly, doesn’t hurt him when I touch it, had more diarrhea one day after d-worming but not very liquid and it has this yellowish color. Overall I’ve been taking really good care of him and still waiting for his vaccination appointment so my only concern is his tummy 🙁 Is it normal for kittens to have a tummy bigger than the rest of their bodies? There are some pictures for you to see it.

Wee Mr. Shadow is one floofy cutie! I hope that he continues to thrive under your loving care. I suggest asking your vet about about your concerns re his tummy. You might even want to have Shadow checked out even before his next appt.
It sounds to me like he’s doing fine. Generally, if he’s using the litter box (both ways) and eating – and playful and active (although cats do sleep a lot), then he’s probably OK. Make sure he has plenty of good water to drink, btw.
Still, I’d bring up your concerns about his big belly – at the least, it should put your mind at rest. Better safe than sorry, after all. We’ve raised a lot of kittens (rescues) and often they’d get pot bellies – from eating their fill. As they got older, the big belly went away (a couple are still overweight, but we can’t get them to stop eating their food and then going after everyone else’s).
If the diarrhea continues, you might ask your vet about kitty probiotics. They can really help with digestion-type problems.
Wee Shadow is a cutie! I’m glad you’re taking care of him. Do ask the vet. about his belly. He’s getting to all the hallmarks of a growing kitten.
What a cutie! The big belly could be secondary to worms. Or it could be gas. That would go along with the diarrhea. It sounds like he’s already getting treated for those things so, hopefully, those won’t be a problem. But I’d ask your vet if you’re concerned.

Let your vet know of your concerns about his belly. It is probably due to the dewormer, as is the diarrhea, but get a professional opinion.
