I love hot chocolate. There truly are major differences. The best coffee shop hot chocolate in my are is the one at Coffee bean and tea. I really dislike the Starbucks hot chocolate. I would have to recommend the powder from Coffee bean and tea, it is more cost effective so I enjoy it at home. BTW, they also sell a no added sugar powder, just as good really.

Talk about the power of suggestion, TL…I am now drinking a mug of hot chocolate made with Nestle’s syrup.

Dee, what do you like with your hot chocolate, whipped cream or marshmallows?

HAHA! What was I thinking? In keeping with that line of thinking, how about a slice of cheesecake, too?

Best hot chocolate I ever had was in Brugge, Belgium. In a little cafe, they brought us cups of steaming hot milk and a little bowl of chocolate nibs. You mixed the chocolate into the hot milk until it melted. OH MY GOODNESS, it was like Heaven I am sure!

After reading the article I haven’t had any of them except the last – Swiss Miss and it is the one we drink all the time!

Tescos(UK supermarket chain) does exceptionally good hot chocolate in their cafe…and muffins…especially raspberry & white choc chip…

I make mine off the Hershey cocoa box when my daughters come to town. They love it! Me too!

This Better Homes and Gardens recipe for mexican hot chocolate is fantastic. I use a whisk to froth it up rather than a rotary beater…I don’t even have a rotary beater! And even if you prefer to not use cinnamon, I think you will really like this recipe.

Dee, I’ve never had hot chocolate that had eggs in it! I don’t know , but it does not really appeal to me , as much as I love hot chocolate. I imagine it must give it a very thick consistency.

Oh yeah, that sounds great and I do have a rotary beater. Ok the beater is many many years old and I don’t use it, but I have one. The whisk sounds easier to use, lol. And yes throw in the cheesecake too!!

It is not sickly thick, TL. That is what I initially thought, too. I love trying new recipes and gave it a shot. It was better than I thought it would be. The eggs give it a full-bodied richness.

I will definitely try marshmallows and whipped cream combined on my hot chocolate today…thanks Deb

Not too crazy about cheesecake, maybe that upside down apple cake that someone posted earlier this week.

Will have to try it, especially if its not as you say ‘sickly thick’. When I have used Swiss Miss, because there was nothing else in the house or I couldn’t afford better, I would use two packets because it made it thicker.

Maybe I’ll try to be daring some day Dee. Do you know if all mexican hot chocolate has eggs in it. I have never tried one because I don’t like cinnamon in my coffee , so I figured I wouldn’t like it in any other drink

I posted that one because I have to try it! My favorite dessert is tiramisu.

I just copied this easy recipe from Giada for a different take on it…a strawberry tiramisu…it looks really easy, too!http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Strawberry-Tiramisu-234447
