Please put your paws in the air and greet our TDK Star Kit, Balthasar. He is a 25 day old American Shorthair from Mexico.
My best friend, Claudia, found him one early morning under a car. She was so worried because the small kitten had his eyes still closed, but no umbilical cord. She kept him for a week and gave him to me because she had to leave the city urgently. I didn’t have in mind to own again a cat, the last time I had one, was a rescued one, Serendipity (5 months) but she died all of the sudden and tragedy after living together for 8 years. That was in 2013. So now, Claudia and I decided to look for a experienced person in orphan baby kittens but we thought the best thing for me to do would be keep him. With now my new cat, Balthasar, has been a great experience. I’ve rescued cats and kittens but never a 1 week kitten. I’ve learned a lot and I feel proud of knowing I’ve been doing it good. We took a ride 2 days ago to the vet, didn’t want to take him out before until see him more stronger, and the doctor said he is in very good shape, good weight, good health and I have another appointment. That day was very funny seeing all the staff of the veterinary clinic and the clients stop doing what they were doing and making “aww” when saw the small Balthasar’s face.
His name was chosen after thinking of how many people are afraid of black cats. They’re good handling bad vibes and when I saw his big claws I just thought in some kind of little supernatural being. In fiction the name Balthazar is used for angelic or demonic beings but besides that, I see him as a magical being, a wizard. It’s a family thingy so.. I just thought: “Balthasar!”
Balthasar is 25 days old now :3

Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
POUNCE on little Balthasar! what a cutie and it sounds like you’re taking good care of him.
Awww! He is precious and beautiful. Thank you for rescuing him. ??
We’ve got several black cats in our clowder (all rescues, or rescued offspring of dropped-off pregnant kitties), but one especially reminds me of Balthasar! She was probably about 9 days old, as her eyes were just starting to open – I found her alone, screaming at the top of her lungs, wet and cold in our back yard. She’s now an independent, very affectionate and playful 6 year old.
Kittens like that are called “bottle babies”, and there is nothing like a bottle baby for loving you and responding to you. You will always be her mom, and as she gets older, believe me, the relationship will REALLY take off. Long life, prosperity, and lots of snuggles and play-times to you and your little one!
Oops… I missed “him” in the description… change “her” to “him” in my reply! (GRIN!)
What a sweet little baby boy. Black cats rock! Thank you for giving this little guy a home and kudos to everyone who becomes a chosen person to care for a cat. I have three rescue males at the current time (17, 10 and 10). If I adopt another “baby,” it will probably be a pure black kitten in remembrance of my last black cat, Orfeyo who left me in 2010 at age 14.
My precious rescue Renzo died at 20 + some months (4 to 6) I’ll miss him for the rest of my life. He had a tiny bit of white on his toes and a little v, so I suppose he was technically a tuxie but from above, one saw only black. I was bereft, but coal-black rescue Livia adopted me.
Paw up Kudos or li’l noir #Balthasar our #COA and #Starkit of the Day!
Easy to see how wee Balthasar captivated the entire vet clinic! What a sweet noir kitty! Under your love and care he’ll grow up to be handsome love bug. Wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of those needle sharp claws though! 😉
Wee Balthasar is so precious! I might pass out from all of his cuteness. Thank you for being a responsible bottle baby meowmy. He’s found the purrfect hoomin.
I love him. So does Livia and the ghosts of Renzo and Nadja, all black.
Well, if that isn’t the cutest kitten…..!!
You can never have enough cats, and congratulations for taking him in and successfully raising him. It’s not for the faint of heart for sure. You give yourself totally in caring for bottle babies, but they will give you their hearts in return.
He is a darling! I love little black cats!
Such a sweet thing…
Congratulations for your site! Really, it’s great and as I saw in the first posts it’s true that sharing and site interface are really a boon to work style. Really a big thank you!
