It gives me great pleasure to introduce you all to our Star Kit for today, Sheree. She is a 4 month old DSH from Athens, Georgia.
Sheree was the last of a litter who, along with their momcat, were being given care by a rescue organization. She and several dogs were brought to the pet store at which I buy supplies. I’d been looking for a companion for my orangie boy, Cedar, and the rescue staff assured me she’d be just right. (She was asleep in her cage when I met her.) The staff was sure right! Although they’re just about exactly a year apart in age, Sheree keeps right up with him in their games of “let’s pretend we’re fighting.”
The rescue organization had been calling her “Squeak” because of the sound of her meow. I kept the “s” and the long “e” sounds in her new name (the accent is on the second syllable) because I thought those would be the parts of her name that she probably recognized best. I named her after a friend of mine from high school.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
Pounce on adorable Sheree!
Your found a sleeping beauty with Sheree. Very thoughtful of how you created her new name to make it easier for her. Its good these two have each other for companions:)
OK, so I have a special weakness for basement cats, having had four, over the years, and still having two right now. Sheree is a pretty young girl, and I’m glad you could get a good picture of her … but wonder how you do it! Three of my four black cats proved nearly impossible to photograph as anything but black blobs, no matter the lighting or setting, and the fourth (Tribble) comes out as a black blob more often than not.
Hey it’s TDKer Leeny’s 2nd Star Kit in a row! Miss Sheree is one sleek, glamour-puss with an awesomely shiny noir coat! 🙂
Hello, beautiful ! I love sleek black cats!
Yay, it’s Cedar’s new sister! Sheree is beautiful – such sleek and silky fur!
I agree black cats are nearly impossible to photograph unless you do so during the day in full light. Welcome little Sheree and your orange friend. That’s one less at a shelter to worry about.
Richard, a friend of mine took the pictures of Sheree and Cedar with her smartphone, in my living room, in existing light. I have no idea how she did it.
Miss Sheree is a pretty Basement kit. I’m glad Mr. Cedar wanted a fur sis. Thanks for giving her a furever home.
I thought you were a Frankie Valli fan.
Sheree (which sounds a lot like “Chéri/Chérie” in French, meaning darling or beloved) looks quite similar to my tiny Livia, though Livia has green eyes and a more triangular head, and an even closer coat. But Livia is at least two years old!
