Astro
Hey everyone, it’s time to meet today’s Star Kit, Astro. He is 3 weeks old from New York City.
Last week someone dropped off Astro at my boyfriends firehouse. He was scared and a bit malnourished. After bringing him home, we took him to see a vet. We were told he seemed pretty healthy, even though Astro had diarrhea. It’s been several days since we’ve had him and even though Astro is gaining weight and is very playful, he is still not pooping normally. I’m calling the vet tomorrow and hopefully we can get Astro to poop normally soon.
I’ve decided to join the forum because I have never raised such a young kitten. I want him to grow up the be a healthy and happy cat. I figured I can learn from others about how to make that happen. 🙂

Astro is totally cute! Thank you and boyfriend got taking him in and caring for him and getting him to the vet promptly.

Wee Astro is so precious! I just want to give tiny snuggles to your tuxie. Someone knew you and your boyfriend would be the best purr parents for this lil’ tyke and they are so right. He’s in a new environment and getting proper kitten food which may be overwhelming him. Have you tried stimulating him to go potty? That’s what fur moms do for the kittens. You just need a soft damp cloth and rub his belly and bottom. I wish you many loving, playful times with wee Astro. Happy Caterday!

Astro looks very, very young. But not to fear, many kittens, just days old, have grown up big and strong because of loving intervention from their hoomins. I’m glad he’s going back to the vet. Sometimes a few trips are necessary in order to get things back on track. Good luck and God Bless.
Such a cutie! You didn’t say what tests the vet did, but you might want him to test for giardia. We had the same problem with diarrhea with a baby from a feral mom that abandoned her whole litter. At that time most vets didn’t test for giardia, but after trying most everything else he finally did and it came up positive. After treatment she was pooping normally, so you might want to ask if he tested. With her on formula her stools are going to be soft and stinky, but shouldn’t be watery. If she is going fairly constantly then you might want to talk to your vet about supplementing the formula. It’s been so long I can’t remember what the supplement we were giving Phred was, but it was simply an electrolyte replacer.
Oh he’s so darling! I have no advice but I’m sure the others here will help. I hope Astro gets strong and healthy and is with you for a long, long time.
