Stumps
Location: West Vally City, Utah, USA
This is stumps at the age of 10 months. at birth, her mom ate part of both back legs then received no vet care. We got her from a family when she was a 4 month old TINY kitten of 2 pounds due to stunted growth due to pain so she wasn’t eating much, but not underweight. She came to live with us.
She was not spayed, no shots, and an infected leg that had to be removed at 5 months when antibiotics wouldn’t get rid of the infection. Within 6 wks of her first amputation, she ate enough so she caught up to the normal kitten weight for her age. This is her at 10 months, 10 days after her second amputation due to sores that wouldn’t heal on her other stump. She is now a very happy cat who LOVES to chase our dogs around the house. The only thing she can’t do is jump on the counters (of course that’s a good thing).

How does chase? That must be so fun. I am imagining she runs with front legs then sort of moves back end fwd by lifting and setting down. Wow. That is an incredible story of overcoming some serious obstacles. You are awesome pet owners of an awesome cat. You could nickname her Ironsides, after the Raymond Burr show. Stumps is a pretty kitty and I’m sure she doesn’t know she’s disabled. Perhaps she could use a set of wheels in place of her back legs. Thank you for your compassion and for loving this special needs kitty. ^ ^

Yes, regarding wheels, I heard of that rather famous dog with only two hind legs, and he had to learn to walk on two legs or else risk rubbing a hole in his sternum area. Poor little pooch. I worry about Stumps having same sort of issue if dragging furry little hind end around. But MAN, that’s a cute cat! Love those black ones.

Stumps is a beautiful cat. How lucky you are to have her. There is a group on Facebook called Leggings For Life. Volunteers knit custom leggings to protect babies like Stumps from getting blisters. No cost at all to pet guardians. <3 🙂
Stumps just breaks my heart. What a valiant little spirit to survive such a traumatic start in life. You are so very kind to have taken such good care of her. Bless you and Stumps and may you have much love together.

Poor Stumps. So sad that she has the condition, but happy she found a loving home where she can thrive.
