Almost five years ago, I was devasated, mourning the loss of my best cat-friend of twelve years, to cancer. I was in no hurry to “Replace” her..it seemed so callous.
But on a local forum, someone announced a litter for adoption. I decided to do an “Interview”.
I went to the lady’s house, and she brought out a basket of kittens. I announced, “I have an opening for a cat…Who wants to win the Lottery today?”
Out from the pack bounced a little gentleman in a tuxedo, who ran up my leg, onto my shoulder, and attempted to get into my shirt pocket. It turned out he was the one in the litter with perfect markings, so weeks later, when he was ready, it was to the vet for the checkup and shots, then home. I knew from the first he would be a great friend, hence his name. He took readily to leash training, and we have daily walks, to the amusement of joggers who pass by. Little did I know how the name would be prophetic..today he weighs 15 1/2 pounds, but is a LONG cat and sleek as a panther. We are best buddies, and inseparable.
Since then, many friends have told me, “It’s always best when the CAT chooses YOU”.
He has his own website, but has trouble typing. No thumbs, you know, so I help. It was written mostly for the nieces.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
What a GREAT way to end the year!
Pounce!
He is a very dapper fellow! 🙂
Welcome Ignatious the Great! He is so handsome! It really is a wonder when the cat chooses you, an honor as well.
Very sorry for the loss of your previous cat. They can never be replaced; they will always occupy a spot in your heart. However, there is always room for another kitty who wants to make you happy.
Glad you found a new friend. They are never ‘replaced’, the new one becomes and we all remain family though some have gone on to memory.
Ignatius has such an earnest look, like he’s yearning for a good nose bop! I volunteer!
Beautiful photo of a very handsome gentleman! Great to end the year with a tuxie!
What a handsome mancat!
He is the spitting image of our Princess (RIP) and condolences on your loss – kitties can be just as loved and precious as children – but I wanted to say that your friends are RIGHT.
My Sunshine – although he’d never seen a human before, came right up to me and when picked up, gave me a huge nose rub. We’ve been really close every since, and he is always giving head butts and nose rubs (or sleeping on my chest).
I think that sometimes kittens do know when their “special human” comes along, and they show it. It sounds obvious that Ignatius knew it when he saw you.
Ignatius is such a sleek and handsome tuxie. I love the kitten picture of him on his website. It is nice to “chosen” and Iggy clearly had a great life planned for him and you. ConCATulations on being chosen.
A wonderful story with lots of lovings. You thought you weren’t ready for a new cat friend, your cat friend of 12 years said “Not so fast, mom, you are ready!” Ignatius the Great has grown into a stunning guy. I’m glad Mr. Ignatius enjoys his walks and has warmed your heart. Many lovings, purrings together.

Your well-dressed gent is almost a perfect double for my RB kitty Nicky, in fact people would comment that my big boy looked like a panther. And he also “chose” me, as did my present fur friend, probably the same process for lots of purrsons.

Thank you so much for leaving your heart open so that Ignatius the Great could pick you!
My furkids & I wish you & your furkid many happy, healthy years!
Happy New Year!
Ohhhh Lil Iggy is purrfect!
Happy New Year!
Pretty kitty! I love the white eyebrows, whiskers and little pink nose. I’m so sorry for your loss and happy that you were able to open your heart to a new kitty friend. ^ ^
Iggy is missing his tie for his New Years celebration. Also make sure his Jaguar is as dapper as its owner. Needless to say I am enjoying his website very much. So glad you found such a wonderful friend not that previous ones will ever be forgotten. You two take good care of each other. So far you are doing a fine job. Many happy, happy years together; you and Iggy the Imp:)
P.S. I have an true imp as well. His name is Oliver, a long haired Maine Coon and Tabby mix:) Life wouldn’t be the same without imps.
You got yourself a little gem!
Iggy is gorgeous & a perfect buddy for you. I’m.so glad he picked you & you are so happy together. Happy New Year & much health & happiness to you both.
Ignatius looks like he in the midst of a heart to heart talk! Or maybe he’s asking to borrow the car! He definitely understands the human language. You are lucky to be chosen!
Fantastic! The story is like a fairy tale come true! 🙂
Thank you all! Iggy was wearing his red bow tie for this happy event!

Anyone who knows Iggy knows he is From Deepest Space! He IS a character.
His Dad used to work for JPL, so saw that at first meeting!
Ignatius says, “Happy New Year! Send Sardines!”
Iggy is adorable!!! I love his black and white coat and beautiful big greeny eyes. Isn’t it just wonderful how cats choose their people? Lucky you, winning the Kitten Lottery with Iggy as your prize 🙂
He is a beautiful tuxie boy and all the better because he chose you!
Gotta luv a kit all dressed up & handsome as a Tux and cute to boot as Iggy or Star-kit today at TDK!
I had a tuxie that looked just like him and his name was Ignatz! We called him Mr. Iggyz. (I named him after the mouse from the b&w cartoon Krazy Kat.)
