Good Morning!!!
Pounce! I SO love orange boy kitties!
Me too!!!
I love both names.
Who is the kitty in the background?
I just noticed him too.
I see 2 kitties in the back… a black one and a grey one.
Nelson Tiger Tummy is too cute!
Morning all !
Where’s the grey one?
I think that it’s a cat that I’m seeing… maybe too many Mimosas! Look at the black cat, then the green towel and at the other end of the green towel, against the wall.
I see it too!!!
I see it now!
Where’s Waldo?
I love orange tabby cats too! I happen to have one crawling all over me right now.
Pounce! Whee, I’m first to see this little orange cutie!
Friday Tigger! Yay!
Hrmf, NOT Gimpy!
I went and voted for my buddy Gimpster, though! He’s almost there, it’s the 31st! Yay, Go Gimpy!
I think it is taking extra time because Gimpy is extra special
Where is Missy?
How about an orange-themed breakfast, in honor of that little spikyfurr baby?
m-m-m-m-m-m-m…orange sticky rolls….. (that’s ,me licking the frosting off my lips)
m-m-m-m-m-m-mimosas! π (that’s me AFTER the mimosas!)
O.K., it’s not orange, but here’s some of my mustard-and-brown sugar-glazed bacon to keep Huddy’s Mama purrin’.
I’VE MISSED Y’ALL!!!!
Where you been?
Summer break with a dial-up connection at home and buried in paperwork the past couple of weeks back!
Only 175 1/2 days to go til summer break! Yippeeee!!
Don’t forget the coffee for Gread Dane!!!!!! Dark Chocolate Orange Latte to keep with the theme!
…and save one for me, please!
Yay, ppearson, I need coffee! Work is still nuts and the dogs I’m dogsitting woke me up at four, six and six thirty – arrrgh! Coffee!
I was just about to embark on a half hour bike ride to take the dogs out and a half hour back in 90 degree heat and humidity that’s just nuts, when boos said to take his car – yay! I may just get through this day after all!
Leaving now, will be back – got Bob stories to tell
Can’t wait to hear Bob stories!
Anncetera, the Bob went NUTS over the Cat Dancer. It wasn’t even totally out of the package before he came running! Little guy was chasing, back-flipping and meowing at the thing for 45 minutes straight! He got so worn out he was sitting and panting with his mouth open! When I had to leave I had to hide the thing so he wouldn’t kill himself “dancing”! I was happy to have worn him out before I left for the dogsitting house. He was ready for one LONG nap!
As for getting him a new collar, there is BAD news to report: PetsMart was out of the pink collars I like!!!!! Needless to say, Great Dane came home to the BOb without a new collar! The little guy will have to wait until I can hit PetCo or Pet SuperMarket to search for a pink collar!
And more bad news for the Bob: his Mama went and bought adult dry food (same flavor as the kitten food) to mix in with his dry kitten food, so I won’t have an enormous kitty. Well, it was a good thing I brought home the Cat Dancer for distraction, because little guy was extremely miffed to find this stuff mixed in with his favorite food in his foodbowl. Mama is in BIG trouble! Tried to be nice and bought a bag of Greenies for him. Got in trouble over that, too – apparently the only treat he will sometimes is not just Greenies – but only chicken-flavored greenies! Salmon Greenies, no thank you!
Glad to hear he liked the Cat Dancer! I have the same problem; the cats will keep playing with it until they’re panting and exhausted. I’ll only let them do a little more, at that point, and then I have to put it away (out of reach and out of sight).
I’m not surprised by the cat food. Kitten food is higher in fat (tastes better to cats), so adult food won’t be appreciated as much. He’ll eventually get over it, though he may never like the adult food as much as the kitten food.
(My cats forgive me because I feed gooshyfood daily, mixed with a little yogurt, brewer’s yeast, and ground turkey. The rest of the time, it’s dry food only.)
–anncetera–
What’s with the brewers yeast? What is it for & how much do you put into the food…if you don’t mind me asking?
The brewer’s yeast is for several reasons. The biggest one is as a nutritional supplement that may or may not help ward off fleas. In addition, I figured it might not be a bad addition to the diet of my cat Even (who appears to be a bit hyperthyroid). He and the kittens are why I started feeding wet food in the first place. The kittens would lick it off my fingers; when Even developed a cold and wouldn’t eat much of anything, he would still eat a bit of wet food.
The brewer’s yeast I purchase is from my local health food store, and is sold in bulk as “nutritional yeast.” I figure it’s probably fresher than what I might get at the pet store. I add maybe a heaping tablespoon for an entire 15-16 oz can of wet cat food. (For a 6 oz can, I’d go with a teaspoon.)
Susie:
It is used for flea control, I have read. Evidently, once it metabolizes in the cats, fleas are repelled by it. I have added it to the wet food of my kitties when they were young, as well as a tincture of garlic in soy sauce. Just a little garlic, as it can be toxic, steeped in soy sauce and then sprinkled over the regular food, can be very helpful in controlling fleas.
Hi Ginny!
I have missed everyone as well! I think I need to buy me a new t-shirt that says “I survived the first week of fall term!” We got all the kiddos in their classes, and set up to get their books and classes paid! Now it’s up to them, I truely hope they do well this term.
Please, please pass me the cute kitten and Mimosa, ok the the orange sticky roll too! I think I have done a good job this week and deserve the three day weekend.
Hi Ginny and boyzandme. We missed you! Happy Friday everyone!! Here is to a nice three day weekend. The only bad thing about it is they are closing the San Francisco Bay Bridge to do replace some roadwork and so the traffic will be a mess out there. My mom just invited my husband and I out to the coastal area of Bolinas for Sunday but my husband may have to work and I really don’t want to be out in the horrible traffic. Now I do want to see my parents though so I may ask them if I could early in the morning.
TGIF!!!!! Yipppeeee, just need to make it to 3:45pm.
Scrambled eggs with gruyere cheese, whole wheat toast with your choice of orange marmalade or raspberry jam, fresh fruit compote, lemon poppy seed muffins, bacon or apple sundried tomato sausages, mango mimosas and fresh coffee, mochas and lattes. How’s that all sound?
Oh and I forgot to say…this morning’s kitten is so cute. Love the blue eyes on the orangie kitty. I want to pick him up and give him lots of kisses. I did that to Sylvester this morning.
82 degrees in my area yesterday. Yucko. Just a tad cooler today with maybe temps in the more reasonable range of 75 degrees. Saw and felt a touch of fog on the way to work. Nice and cool. Will try to send some to those of you that are sweltering in the awful heat. Keep cool and hydrated.
–Karin–
That’s the best thing about living in your area,is the weather is perfect in summertime. Heck, I’m only about an hour away from you & the temperature is so different. It’s 9:00 a.m. & already 85 in the shade. I don’t know how people in the mid & eastern states put up w/the long, hot summers they have. It might just peak at 108 again today. I could put up w/it if it wasn’t day after day after day.
**With the heat hear,I’m going to need a fan to sit in front of while I snuggle little Tiger Tummy/Nelson’s furry belly
**As for breakfast, I’ll take anything w/ice in it
π Good Morning All π
Hello Susie and Karin, my fellow Californians:
It is hotter than a mf here in Los Angeles, and the weekend forecast is beastly. Luckily, I do live in Long Beach so I get a wee tiny bit of the marine layer and its benefits.
I have been transferred at work, and since I got that notice, I have done NOTHING!!! Short-timers syndrome, in the extreme. I had hoped to do some major catch-up this weekend, but if the air conditioning is off here in the building, I am going to have to take work home, and attempt to be disciplined enough to actually do it!!
The kitty today is gorgeous, reminds me of my little Rufus when he was a baby.
Susie, hope all is going well with you. Just get a spray bottle and sit in front of the fan to cool yourself off. A hint for keeping the kitties cool (you may already know this one): I freeze water in old water bottles, and set them out on the floor for the kitties to lie up against to get some relief from the heat. I scatter them around the living room and the hallway before I leave for work, and then replace them once I get home. I have frozen about a dozen bottles, so I can keep up a good rotation.
Karin, I am in total sympathy with your aversion to traffic, especially on a holiday weekend. Why not just go down to the Alameda beach and hang out? Or crank up the A.C. and watch some marathons on T.V.? That is what I plan on doing (except I don’t have A.C.).
I am loathe to leave the building here at work, as the air conditioning is so powerful – isn’t that pathetic? Oh well, hope you all have a great weekend, and I will log back in on Tuesday!
Kate
I start back to school on Monday. 3 days INSET and the kids come back on Thursday. I am soo not ready.
You all complain about the heat, here in the England it has been (officially) the wettest, most miserable Summer since records began. It has been so wet here that even though Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland have had wetter Summers in the past, England’s total rainfall this Summer means it has also been the wettest Summer ever in the whole UK! I feel like all my joints have rusted up and the garden’s a total mess because I can’t do anything, because it’s always raining.
Quick pass me Tiger Tummy before I turn into a thoroughly whinging Pom (to quote our Australian friends and relations). I will also share a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc with anyone in need!
Whinge away Polly’s Mum, I think us Poms are more than justified in feeling pretty hacked off by such a lousy summer. Maybe September will be a bit better? Let’s hope for an Indian Summer before a soggy autumn!
Polly’s Mum–what do you teach and what level?
–Sorry Polly’s Mum & MCW–
Wish I could trade some of our weather with you.
–Hello Kate–
Nice to hear from you. I’ve been meaning to e-mail you, but, just been busy & been in a blue funk.
**just too many kittens to tend to
**I’m going w/a neighbor friend tomorrow to Petsmart w/Prettygirls 3 kittens. I hope to God I can find a purrmenant home for them. I’m worried the little black Scorpio won’t be wanted. How can people be so prejudice when it comes to a kitten’s color. It shouldn’t surprise me tho with the kind of world we live in anymore.
**wish me luck on adopting them out
I will be thinking of you, and hoping that little Scorpio finds an exceptional home. When I go to PetsMart, I have to force myself not to go to the kitten adoption station, because it just breaks my heart! I want to take them all home with me, the baby kittens, the adult cats who look so confused at being given up or having had their humans pass away. It is heartbreaking!! I have to do the snatch and grab with the cat food and litter.
Ah well, take care of yourself and your babies (including the man friend). Let me know if you need a little break – maybe you can come down to L.A. for a weekend and let me spoil you (I do this for my sister all the time).
Take care-
Kate
Good luck, Susie!
Kate, if I bring Susie, can I come too? I have had TLC in years.
I meant…I haven’t had. Keyboard gremlins at it again.
Sounds good, Ginny. I was wondering where you’d been.
Anybody notice the little black boo in the corner?
Yes, Isn’t he(just guessing) adorable?
Hello all,
I am off to work… everyone have a wonderful Friday.
Lynn, a hello to you too. Hope you are feeling better.
Hugs!!!
What a sweet kitten as always! Awwww….
Have a good workday, Bumblebee! I’ve been at work since 7am… really could use some of that fresh-brewed coffee I’m smelling…
Have a good day, Bumblebee! Yes, I am better today, thanks for asking. Have a good weekend! Talk later. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Well, guess I wasn’t fast enough! You guys had faster fingers.
Good morning, TDK’ers (or afternoon, or whatever fits!)
Good Morning All…..
I agree with the fast fingers…..
This little one is just waaaay to cute…..if he didn’t already have a forever home he’d be mine….all mine….course I’d not have a problem sharing with my TDK family…… π
Been up since 5 am doing homework and now it’s breaktime….anyone have any coffee? I can supply banana nut muffins and apple-cranberry coffee cake!
Coffee wagon coming! How do you like your caffeine?
Hi Miu!
Hi Great Dane! Hi Bob!
GD: Try to convince Bobsie on that the World really needs a blog by him. How does Bob’s Mob sound?
Chalk up another orange cutie! Yay! Very huggable.
What a cute boy! And his little friend in the background, too.
Lord Nelson, you can take command of my fleet anyday!
Nice fambily of kittehs, Ginny!
Thanks! I’m still remiss in not posting Baby Sally Semi-Meezer…what a pistol! Oh, the stories I could tell–do I start with the ice cube fetish or her relationship with Linus, her “Sweet Babboo” (“I’m NOT your ‘Sweet Babboo’!”)
Come on! Spit them out. π You are teasing us now!
You know how some cats come running at the whirr of the can opener or the crinkle of the Cat Chow bag? With the Pocket Rocket, it’s the ice dispenser in the fridge.
It all started when one of us dropped an ice cube on the floor. On impulse it was then dropped into Sally’s water dish, in plain view of her. She just about went nuts trying to bat that cube floating so teasingly in front of her without getting her paw wet!
Now she INSISTS on having ice in her water dish whenever someone goes to the fridge! She will get between you and the freezer door and STARE at you. If she doesn’t get satisfaction, she will me-YOW that Meezer Meow at you until she gets her ice.
One cube used to suffice, but no more. Right now, she’s worked her way up to three. Before too long, we may have to put her on Methadone! π
Ginny, that is too funny. I love cat stories!
What a handsome little guy this morning. I have never been a servant to an orange cat before. Maybe someday an orange one will pick me. Right now I have Zoom and Pat, 2 of Savannah kittens that are orange. They are such a stitch.
Emerson does the same thing! He will come running from anywhere in the house when he hears the ice dispenser. I thought he was the only one that did that!
And he loves having ice in his water and gets quite upset when Ferrule steeps his sock in it.
Maybe it’s a Meezer thing?
–That’s funny Ginny–
I found something new that our kitties like to play w/besides paper wads. They love the little oyster crackers you put in soup. At least I don’t have to worry about them eating those. π
–Ginny–
I wanted to say the same. You have a beautiful brood of fuzzbutts.
It brought a tear to my eye when I saw Callie. My Little angel Julie looked just like her. π π π
*I gotta keep thinking of the good times I had w/her π
Hello to you too Kittenmaster!!
You are a character.
Thanks for the site!!!
You rock!!!
π
I’m making pesto this weekend, working in my flower gardens, loving up my kittehs, trying out the new electric smoker we bought (ribs was my vote). Might do an SCA re-enactment event in Hastings called “Havoc at Hastings” sometime….rest and relax….want to shop the flea markets and antique emporiums…
Judy, that’s quite a list!! Hope you get all the things done that you want to. I hope to lay new tile on my kitchen floor and a bit of painting. For me, that’s plenty!!
Nelson is adorable. Love orange tabbies. And yes, who is the little one in the back, I wonder?
Enjoy the weekend. Hugs and purrs.
Hi Lynn! Saw your last post after me yesterday; I hadn’t heard of Fairfield Lighting, but Googled them, and see their head office is based in the south, not that far (80 odd miles, not a clue what that is in kms!!) from where I used to live many years ago.
Now, you asked about UK public holidays – not as easy as you might think, because holidays in England are not necessarily holidays in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales, and vice versa! We Brits like to keep the rest of the world on its toes π
Generally though, aside from Christmas and the New Year which is pretty standard, we have two days at Easter (traditionally Good Friday & Easter Monday), two holidays in May (usually the first and last Mondays, referred to as Spring Bank and Whitsun respectively), and the August bank holiday, the last Monday in the month.
Hmmm. That doesn’t seem like very much. Polly’s Mum, Rubia (and anyone else in the UK) – have I left anything out? Brain fade after the week I’ve had!
And to answer your other question, I’m off every Tuesday (unless I swap the day) as I only work 4 days a week – the extra time is usually dedicated to taking my elderly Mum to an increasing number of doctor and hospital appointments, or just generally helping her out with stuff.
Coo! Think that’s my longest ever post on TDK! You all still awake?! π
We’re missing one Bank holiday – there are 8 days I’m sure but I can only think of 7, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day(1st Monday in May), Spring Bank Holiday (last Monday in May) and August Bank Holiday.
Is Boxing Day a bank holiday too?
We don’t get Whit Monday (Pentecost) any more because it moves each year – it’s date is dependent on Easter, Easter depends on Passover and Passover depends on the phases of the moon …… “They” are talking about making a fixed date for Easer too, it’s not always convenient to celebrate it at the proper time!!!!
Thanks Polly’s Mum, I think you’re right about Boxing Day being a Bank Holiday. 8’s still not a lot though is it?! Roll on Christmas… π
Thanks, madcatwoman for the update on your holidays, although I will admit, I don’t know what some of them are! I am familiar with Boxing Day though! Hope your mum is ok and doing well. Sending prayers for good health for her and you as well. Thanks Polly’s Mom for adding your input. I hear ya, come on Christmas. Glad to hear you share some of the same holidays as we do. Love having friends across the ocean!
Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Some pictures just make me laugh with enjoyment when they come up: this is one of them.
Love the name, too.
Yes! Lookit that curious little face…”whatcha got THERE? Is cheezburger?”
“Whatever it is, hand it over!”
Darling, darling kitties…… Love those orangies…
Good morning and happy Friday to everyone!!!
Nelson is a beautiful orangey.
Huddy in da house!!!!!
HIDE THE BACON!
Does anybody has a strongroom? π
It’s them goblins I tell you – ‘have’.
HM, were you able to take huddy in with you today? What has he been up to at the office? *offers Huddy bacon, and scratches behind his ears* Leaves rest of bacon for his momma! Have a great day! Hugs and purrs.
I was indeed. My boss is gone so Huddy gets to visit. He’s actually sitting on a shelf I have in my office looking around. I can tell by the way he’s acting he’ll probably be asleep soon. Everybody has already come by to pet him and hold him.
That’s so cool! I’m glad he’s having a good time. Wish I could bring mine in, but they haven’t seen the inside of a carrier in 12 years, so that’s a no brainer! Enjoy your day with him. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
I wish I could bring a cat to work. Even if I could they wouldn’t like it though. I’m not a social person so my cats aren’t particularly social either. They are O.K. with my occasional visitors but they wouldn’t enjoy being in an office enviornment. You and Huddy are so blessed to have each other. have a great day at work.
Many thanks Lynn and KITTYPAW
Huddy is by far the friendliest/most laid back cat I’ve ever had. He’ll just to go anybody as long as they’ll pick him up. Maybe it’s from me carrying him around when he was a kitten.
Anybody that comes to the house he just goes right up to them and sits there begging to be held.
I love him so much.
HM, you are very lucky to have a kitty who loves to be held. My first cat liked to be held and was the type of kitty that if I sat down, she wanted to come and sit on my chest (no lap for her). Sylvester doesn’t like being held and is not a lap cat at all. He prefers to go sit on the floor somewhere. He use to come sit with me on the couch but since we moved the couches around, he won’t do it now. Makes me sad sometimes as I loved it when he would come up on the couch and sit with me and was always making sure he had a foot or a paw touching me. Oh well.
–Karin–
Runt started this new thing w/following me everywhere I go. She loves to play in the bathtub. Got in trouble a couple of times, tho, starting her antics at 5:00 a.m.. And guess what??????
Her kitty Thumper has the exact kind of purr as his mom! I couldn’t believe my ears when he started doing it.
Now I can have stereo Purring/Singing going on when they’re together. It makes it harder for me tho, since I’m trying to gradually seperate them. I’m not trying as much anymore since I don’t see her kittens ever getting adopted now. The old”I don’t want a black kitten syndrome” they suffer from.
That’s sad nobody wants the black kittens. I’d take them in a heartbeat if I could.
Susie, what Petsmart are you going to this weekend? I am interested in coming out to your place sometime convenient for you.
I would love to meet Mama Runt.
HM, Is the Hudster at work with you?
Yes he is, he’s on my shelf asleep.
Sweet baby orange! *smooches baby* I see kitties like this and remember that my big Goldeneye was that small once…
I came across kitten pictures of my big guy, Chris, some weeks ago and was startled to see how small he was just five years ago. I wonder what happened …
–Catherine–
We want to see pictures..More pictures π
I love that look on Rattlesnake’s face peeking out of his blankie.
*Just curious,Who’s Rattlesnake napping with there. They both look so comfy
Get your work done now, sports fans…
IT’S THE FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT OF TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!!!!
It’s about stinkin’ time…. π
Go Raiders! Go Brahmas!
This is the only place I’ve ever lived where HS Football is like a religion. Even the midweest isn’t this bad.
My hometown team, Stephenville Yellowjackets, played last night and trounced Waco-Midway. Definitely one of the highlights of my week.
Did you go to Stephenville High? Just wondering if you remember my favorite teacher (from Mansfield, TX) Cristi-Campbell Furtick? As teens, we would follow her gorgeous husband around if we saw his plumbing truck. . .ahhhh, the good ole days!
I hope Nelson is happy in his new home. Thank you for fostering him. He looks like he’s thinking, “I have a new home? Hooray!!!”
I love orange boys–of course, I’m prejudiced because Redford is is so purrrrfect! π
Happy Friday everyone–do you all get a long holiday? Hubby has to work Monday, but at least gets double time-he works on the suicide hot line and any holiday is usually busy.
Anyone bring breakfast yet? I’ve got chocolate raspberry tarts and strong french roast coffee…any takers?
Kisses to handsome Redford! (Despite that my girl is heartbroken because Redford didn’t answer her love letters. π₯ )
Chocolate raspberry tarts and french roast coffee… Yummm!
Letters? What letters? Redford will always answer letters, especially from purrrty girl kitties!
Redford & Mitzi are on catster–why are we not showing in pink on the comment line?
Yes,yes, yes.to the tarts. But it’s so hot already that I need an iced coffee please. Thanks Rainingwolf. You must be feeling the coastal heat as well where your at.
Morning, morning all and once again (and I am not in any way complaining) we have a beautiful confident little orange guy.. woo hoo!!! Well its time to close up and get ready for leaving work….have a great day
i thought i saw a puddy tat π
I did, I did taw a puddy tat! Mean ol’ puddy tat! π

Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
I have to wait a couple more hours before they let me vote(that 24 hr. thing), but rest assured,Gimpy will be getting my 5 votes for the day.
I just adore the story behind Gimpy. I’m so glad Missy shared it w/us π
Gimpy just got my 5 votes for today. I feel sure that Gimpy will be a runaway winner.
hop away winner
Yay, Bobby!
Go Gimpy!
Goodmorning/Afternoon to all you lovely TDK posters and lurkers and of course Kittenmaster.
Nelson (Tiger Tummy) is adorable. Thank you for your fostering the sweet little guys and gals. Your efforts really help in stopping some of the suffering these throwaway babies endure. You deserve many hugs and gold stars.
Haven’t had time to do more than occasional lurking this week. I have been extremely tired and have had 2 sick kitties. My Pixie has Addison’s disease and had another bad bout this week and Dusty (one of the kittens) hurt his leg and developed a fever. Medications, trips to vet, cleaning up after Pixie, etc. just has me worn to a frazzle. Need a day or two of freedom from this gang, but since not possible will have to grin and bear it. I think of you often and know that many of you here have had far worse weeks to deal with.
I did see the photos of Chester’s Place and it is wonderful. A big thank you to all who made it possible. I know Jerry is smiling his beautiful smile and watching over our beloved furry friends.
Prozak, I am on it for the second time in my life. For me it doesn’t stop empathy, just makes the pain of it more bearable. What it does do is curb my ability to cry. I still feel the need, but the tears hardly ever come unless I am really, really sad or hurt. It does help me live a far more normal life, and I thank science for making it available.
Hope all have a wonderful Labor Day holiday.
Elene, I am sorry you’ve had a rough week. I hope your kitty’s feel better soon. What, may I ask, is Addison’s disease. I’ve not heard of that. I’m glad your meds are making you feel better. Hope you get some relaxation this weekend. Have a good Labor Day. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_addison_s_disease.html
AddisonΓ’β¬β’s disease (also Hypoadrenocorticism and Adrenocortical insufficiency) is a deficiency of the corticosteroid hormones (cortisol and aldosterone), i.e. hormones produced by the cortex of the adrenal glands.
The symptoms are lethargy, anorexia, weight loss, depression, weakness and mild to severe dehydration. The disease is fatal if left untreated.
With appropriate glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid (i.e. hormones secreted by the adrenal cortex and medulla) supplementation, cats with AddisonΓ’β¬β’s disease should have a normal life expectancy.
Elene, I’m sorry you are having such a tough week. I take Lexapro (another Prozac type drug). I refused for years saying I didn’t want to take drugs to be normal. I’m glad I started taking it 10 years ago. So is my family π I hope Pixie and Dusty get better soon and you have time for some rest. Hugs and purrs to all of y’all.
Done Paxil, done Lexapro, now on to Zoloft. My complaint is weightgain. I started the Zoloft because the doctor thought that was least likely to make me gain weight, but it still did. Well, I will rather carry around an extra 10 lbs. and not deal with the anxiety.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Do you have a web site for Chester’s Place. I would love to see it.
could someone please repost the thread for the pics of Chester’s place for bgagnon. I tried to do it, but it didn’t work. Think I need computer 101! Thanks. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Kittenmaster was kind enough to post the photos. Here it is:
http://www.dailykitten.com/chesters_place/
Thanks Kittenwhisperer, you are a doll. How the heck did you do that?? Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Hi, Lynn. I went back a couple of days and found the original post, copied and pasted it into my comment. No magic there. π
Kittenwhisperer, tried that, but it came up in black and didn’t highlight in red as yours did. Don’t know what I did wrong. Thanks for responding though. Hugs and Purrs

–Elene–
I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough week. I wish I were closer so I could give you that break you need. I can soooo relate. I have noone here that can do that for me either.
* A special scritch & hug for Pixie & Dusty
{{{BIG HUGS }}} for you & hope your feeling better
*hugs* for you and *gentle petting* for them.
Hi, Elene,
Hope you can get some rest. I’m glad the meds help! *hug*
Some very powerful HSUS short videos here…
**Vote in the Knock Out Animal Fighting Video Contest**
http://www.hsus.org/acf/news/vote_video_contest.htm
Wow. Those were powerful. I like the one about dog sports.
They were amazing and should be viewed by every animal lover.
Good morning!! what a sweetie!! We used to have an orangie named Chairman Meow and we called him Chow!!! He had the attitude from H*ll!
Anyways, I have to, on behalf of my partners in crime, request at least 2 more volunteers for the TDK fund. I have set up the account and we hope that this will be the start to help anyone from TDK or others that are nominated to help with issues that are related to our fur babies whether the be feline or canine! After the volunteers have volunteered, we will start with anything necessary to get this whole thing moving forward. So, please volunteer!! It won’t take much of your time and I REALLY hope that KM will be one of the volunteers. I know that you are busy, Kind Sir, but I would really like to have you involved. Anyone interested, please email me at johnandterri352@yahoo.com!! I can’t wait to hear from you!
Love Terri
Terri, I would like to volunteer but I have no accounting experience. I tried to send you 2 emails from 2 different accounts but they got bounced back. I think the !! after your email here did the one, but the other I typed in by hand and it bounced back too??? I am leaving work soon but I can be reached at home at rucruc2004 at yahoo.com I will check the site later from home, also.
Everyone have a great labor day and enjoy the time off, if you have it. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Lynn, I have sent an email to you. Thanks for volunteering. Love Terri
Thanks Terri, got the email. Have a safe and fun trip! Talk to you later. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
I see you are in Florida! Sorry for the goof! Hugs and purrs.
I’ll email you later today Tiger’s mom.
Thanks Kittypaw. I will be leaving to go out of town at 2pm EST but I will be back on Monday night. If you don’t hear from me today, you will for sure Mon or Tue. Thanks Love Terri
Has little Tiger started his “vacation” yet?
What a cute lil orange guy! That’s such an intent look on his little face…was someone dangling something nummy before him? π
Hello TDKr’s – This little guy is VERY cute. Love the wide-track stand. I’ve never been owned by a creamsicle, but ya never know, they really seem irrestistable.
Last day of “summer hours”, sigh. Teachers come back Tuesday and students on Wednesday. Where, oh where did summer go? Double sigh!
Hope y’all have a great weekend.
Hey cuz!

Hey Dorie, you are only as young as you feel! Hope you have a good year and I still think my 35 year old is still 19! I sympathize with you. Hang in there, girl, all will be well. Have a great weekend. Hugs and purrs, Lynn

**ASPCA SUCCESS STORY OF THE WEEK: THE ROYAL TREATMENT**
Nicole McMahon remembers the exact day her family adopted Sheba from her local shelter. Γ’β¬ΕThe woman at the front desk walked us into the back room,Γ’β¬Β Nicole recalls, Γ’β¬Εand the most beautiful cat I had ever seen stared up at me.Γ’β¬Β Nicole proceeded to give Sheba a good petting, and the kitty showed her appreciation with a special kind of purr. Γ’β¬ΕIt was unlike anything I had ever heard before,Γ’β¬Β says Nicole. Γ’β¬ΕIt sounded almost like a turkey!Γ’β¬Β
When the McMahons brought Sheba home, they learned quickly that she would need some adjustment time. Γ’β¬ΕShe hid in the closet for almost two weeks,Γ’β¬Β says Nicole. Γ’β¬ΕAnd when she came out, she just spun in circles and chased her tail.Γ’β¬Β The family realized their next step was to let their newest member know that she was loved unconditionallyΓ’β¬βand thus commenced the royal treatment.
Γ’β¬ΕWhen Sheba decided that my new down jacket would make a cozy bed, it became hers permanently, and I had to buy a new winter coat!Γ’β¬Β Nicole recalls. Γ’β¬ΕAnd in the middle of the night, when she’d jump on the bed with a loud meow and drop her toy mouse on my face, I’d get myself up to play catch with her.Γ’β¬Β After a few months of being treated like a queen, Sheba stopped hiding in the closet and began to join the McMahons in their bed at night.
The lady of the house is now 14 years old and can still jump three feet high to catch her toy mouse. Γ’β¬ΕI think part of the reason Sheba has stayed so healthy and active in her senior years is because she knows how much sheΓ’β¬β’s loved,Γ’β¬Β says Nicole. Γ’β¬ΕWe hope to have many more years with our queen. And yes, she still does the turkey purrΓ’β¬βwhen sheΓ’β¬β’s really content.Γ’β¬Β
I wish I could see a picture of her. What a wonderful story. Thanks, Dee!

Yes, I saw her. What a beautiful cat and an awesome story.
**UPDATE ON MICHAEL VICK CASE: ASPCA TO LEAD EVALUATIONS OF PIT BULLS SEIZED FROM VICKΓ’β¬β’S PROPERTY**
On Monday, August 27, the U. S. AttorneyΓ’β¬β’s office revealed that Dr. Melinda Merck, ASPCA Forensic Veterinarian, participated in the excavation of graves and the examination of canine remains found on VickΓ’β¬β’s Virginia property. Now the ASPCA has a new challenge to faceΓ’β¬βleading a team of behaviorists in evaluating pit bulls taken from VickΓ’β¬β’s property during the course of the investigation.
Dr. Stephen Zawistowski, the ASPCAΓ’β¬β’s Science Advisor and Executive Vice President, National Programs, will head up the team that will conduct the evaluations. San Francisco-based BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit Bulls), a nonprofit educational resource for pit bull parents and handlers, will be working with the evaluation team to help identify which dogs are eligible for foster programs and possible rehoming into appropropriate foster homes.
Other options for the rescued pit bulls may include rehabilitation as law enforcement dogs, placement in sanctuaries or, if there is no other choice, humane euthanasia. The ASPCA-led team will provide a report to the USDA; the final disposition of the dogs, however, will be decided by a federal judge. During the evaluation process, the dogs will remain in the federal governmentΓ’β¬β’s possession. At no time will the ASPCA take possession of them.
Γ’β¬ΕWe greatly appreciate the trust placed in us by the USDA to ensure that these dogs are given every possibility for a second chance,Γ’β¬Β says Ed Sayres, ASPCA President & CEO. Γ’β¬ΕWe take this phase of the investigation very seriously. Fighting dogs face many challenges when considered for rehabilitation or placement, and weΓ’β¬β’ll make sure they get the professional, thorough and detailed evaluations they deserve.Γ’β¬Β
For further details on the ASPCAΓ’β¬β’s role in the Michael Vick case and for important information on dog fighting, please visit the ASPCA Anti-Cruelty Resource Center.
It makes me sad that there is a need for rehabilitation for animals because of abuse but I am glad the ASPCA is there to help them.
It IS sad, but I don’t think any of those dogs are able to be rehabilitated….It would take a miracle.
Unfortunately, it looks like the lot of them will be euthanized.
You can get updates on them here. http://news.bestfriends.org/index.cfm?page=news&fps=1&mode=entry&entry=99E19A34-BDB9-396E-94664923D82722AF
Thanks so much for that great info, Ann!
Did anyone else see Craig Ferguson talk about Michael Vick a couple of weeks ago? He was talking about how the city of Atlanta was trying to ban the baggy clothes so popular with teenagers today, and explained how this fad originated in prison.
He concluded with “Teenagers in Atlanta: if you want to dress like a convict, wear a Michael Vick jersey!”
I hadn’t laughed so hard in ages! No the situation with Vick isn’t funny, but I’m glad the #$$& is being equated with “convict.”
COOL!
A PENNY FOR YOURΓ’β¬Β¦SEARCH?
What if the ASPCA earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, we do, thanks to GoodSearch.com, a search engine powered by Yahoo! that donates half of its revenues to charities. Simply visit GoodSearch.com to start making a difference and check out how the numbers add up. If 500 people search four times a day, roughly $7,300 will be raised in a yearΓ’β¬βwithout anyone spending a dime. So far over $4,200 has been raised for the ASPCA in 2007 alone. So be sure to visit GoodSearch.com and add your two cents (or three or four) to animal welfare!
P.S. If you can, be sure to visit on Friday, August 31Γ’β¬βthatΓ’β¬β’s todayΓ’β¬βwhen the ASPCA will be featured as Charity of the Day.
Cool! I’ll check it out. thanks
I want that sweet baby!!! How adorable!!
Here is what could effect my weekend travel. Oh well..get on the road early if have to travel.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/08/31/MNI3RSDR7.DTL
What a hassle.
Interstate 10 closes every weekend right by my house so we get tons of traffic we normally don’t get.
I hate roadwork!! And everything around here is torn up all the time. In all the time I’ve lived here, I don’t think I’ve ever seen I-45 NOT under construction.
Crazy.
–Yeah, what a mess your way Karin–
Did you hear of the three car wreck on Highway 24 going to the tunnel?
People just don’t pay attention or they’re all in a hurry anymore.
It’s enuf to make you want to stay inside and not drive anymore
I didn’t hear about it, Susie. I am glad I am in Alameda and do not have to deal with the Caldecott Tunnnel (Hwy 24).
Tiger Tummy (Nelson) is adorable! Love the rings around his tail!
He has that “What you talkin bout? I didn’t do it” look.
CUTE !!
Good Morning All, Nelson ..is totally sweet and so tummy rubbable…and the little black guy in the back could also use a good tummy rub. I have fostered for the last 3 years..and the rewards and so great..only the occasional “failing kitten” puts reality into a what is a wonderful volunteer opportunity. As for breakfast…for me it is brunch (I have been here at work since 6:45 CDT) an orage sticky bun would be great with some mimosa….but I guess I will settle for orange spice tea. Hoping all will have a great Labor Day weekend..we here are supposed to have wonderful weather..and after some of the violent storms /flooding along with the bridge collapse it will be welcome.
Uh oh! This one is too sweet to bear! Chocolate, quick!
Too late! ***Thud***
Heres some chocolate and the little Tirger Tummy/Nelson.
Thanks Chuck. His expression stole my heart. I have several orangies in my feral colony and they are the most friendly.
Hmm, is that little black kitty I see in the backround?
He looks like TK aka the Tiny Kitten I fostered last year. TK is now 1 and 1/2 years old, built like a tank and still loves his mom, me. Yes, I was a foster failure. I got TK when he was 4 weeks old and we bonded to each other. Couldn’t give him up when he looked into my eyes and said ” I thought I was home”. I am glad Tiger Tummy found a forever home, too.
Good for Tk, and good for you, S. Hall!
How cute! I want another orangie! My Gir is great.
Hope everyone who has a long weekend coming has a great one! I get to spend mine working in Toronto, such is the price we pay for being self-employeed.
Chuck, have a great time in Toronto. I hope you can get some R & R in while you are there. What sort of work do you do? Enjoy your weekend. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Won’t get to see anything except basically the hotel, airport and the work site.
I am a telecommunications consultant, specializing in VoIP.
sorry you won’t get time to play! Have a safe trip and your work sounds very interesting and complicated!! At least to me!! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Hi everyone. I hope everyone is looking forward to a 3 day weekend. I know I am. It’s been a tough week. Y’all know my daughter wanted to move back in. Well, she didn’t like my rules so she can’t move back in. We are butting heads again. Sigh…
Remember Thumper, the cat we had neutered this week? When Trayce and I went to put out food yesterday we found him dead. He had been mauled. The only thing we can think is he got in the fence with the guard dog on the property next door. I am just sick. I don’t want to think of what he went through and yet I can’t stop. He somehow made it back to our lot. My only hope is that he didn’t suffer long before he passed. We checked the entire perimeter of the fence and didn’t find any big holes. I’m sorry to be so down and negative this week. I just need to talk to people who understand why I would be so upset over a “stray” cat. Trayce and I were nearly hysterical. I hope a long weekend will set me back on a path of positive thought and optimism.
Oh Kittypaw, I am so sorry to hear of Thumper’s passing. I know you are beside yourself right now. Thumper is now in Jerry’s arms and at peace. You did more than your share for this cat and I know that Thumper appreciated it. I hope you are able to find who may be responsible for this and that will give you some peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sorry about your daughter, but if she doesn’t want to abide by your rules, maybe this is for the best. Sorry you had a bad week. Try to rest this weekend. Hugs and purrs. Love Lynn
I am so sorry-I know how it hurts, even with a stray. We love ALL the cats that cross our path. Healing hugs and purrs to you for caring.
Kittypaw, I am so sorry for your loss. He was not “just a stray.” I am sending you hugs and tissues. At least he made his way home and you weren’t left to just wonder what happened to him. Blessings on you and Trace for all that you do
Strays have a way of melting one’s heart. So sorry for your loss. *hugs*
KITTYPAW, please accept my deepest condolences for the lost of your beloved Thumper. I have tears in my eyes reading about what happened to your baby.
Don’t be sorry about being negative and down, you can’t help it – you just suffered a huge loss.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers
*big hug to KITTYPAW & Trayce*
So sorry for the bad week Kittypaw! Thumper was not just a “stray” he was your friend. My furry family and I send headbonks, purrs and prayers for a great weekend and a better next week.
Kittypaw, I’m so sorry to hear about Thumper. I, too, hope that he did not suffer long before he passed away.
He wasn’t just a stray. He was a cat you cared enough about to provide food, water, and freedom from reproduction and the endless cycle of suffering that seems to never end. You and Trayce may have been the only kindness he ever knew, at the hands of humans. He knew you were a source of comfort and Good Things; I hope you never forget what a difference you made in his all-too-short life.
And I’m sorry to hear about your daughter. She may someday appreciate your generosity, but in the meantime, I’m sure she’ll find a different place to stay that’s more to her taste.
You were so right to be up front with your daughter and what your expectations would be before she moved in. It would have been extremely unpleasant to have constant conflicts after she moved in. Better to get it over with now and save both of you some grief. I hope she finds a more suitable (for her) place to live.
I’m sorry about Thumper’s tragic death. He managed to come back to you because he felt safe with you. Jerry is comforting him now and showing him the ropes across the rainbow bridge.
Many hugs, purrs and headbonks to you!
Oh, I’m so sorry. *hugs* Here you are with people who understand how strays draw our love and compassion, too.
I am so very sorry for your loss…caring for a independently located cat (he was in a place of his choosing at that time)…I guess we like to feel all cats should have forever homes, but maybe some just have a bit more of the wanderlust in them …but to find a wonderful individual like you to give what all cats need …a good dish of food and some necessary surgery, he was blessed and and hopefully didn’t suffer long. As mentioned before he is being now in a good place with the likes of Jerry , St Francis and all other who gave of themselves to our fuzzball companions. Who would ever envision a heaven with no animals?
You have had a tough week…hopefully your daughter will someday realize that boundaries are good and needed to function well with others.
My prayers and thoughts arfe with you..I know there is a big hurt in your heart now.
KITTYPAW
I”m so,so sorry. I broke out in tears when I read your post. You worked hard to get him in a more controlled & safe life, just to have that happen to him.
{{HUGS}}
Oh Kittypaws, please remember that Chester now is holding the little one in his arms and telling him all about the love you have for fur babies. and we all love you,
Love Terri
Thanks everyone. I am so glad to have friends who “get it”. Thumper was our friend and we loved him very much. I know he is with Jerry/Chester and he is at peace. I believe animals go to heaven and I will see him again. Trayce and I are soulmates in the matter of cats. I will show her this site and she will see there are many more like us and she can take comfort from your sentiments just as I have.
I would have been hysterical if it had been a cat I did not even have a connection with, let alone a stray cat I was assisting. You are not being “overly-emotional.” You are showing basic human compassion which, considering how many people have no emotional affect regarding these types of situations, is an admirable quality. Keep on emoting, I say! The world needs you.
Please do show Trayce TDK, Kittypaw! She sounds like a great person and this would be a great site for her!
So upset to read about Thumper, Kittypaw! Poor little guy!
You and your friend do great work with the kitties, please keep it up!
I’ll keep you and Thumper in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs!
Oh Kittypaw. I am so sorry about Thumper. Hopefully he passed quickly and didn’t suffer much. Don’t beat yourself up, you cannot control what a cat is going to do or where it will wander to. Unfortunately that somehow he must have slipped while on the fence, fell in and the dog got to him. He is now at the Rainbow Bridge playing with my Whiskers, Jerry, Julie, Roo, and all the others who have passed on. Big hugs to you. Peaceful thoughts.
so sorry…………
speaking of strays-I have a poster on my front door………..Homeless, not hopeless. How true.
Sweetie, you did your best and you gave Thumper more good in the short time you had him than you will ever know. These things just happen. I hope your friend Tracye is feeling better, and both of you are getting a big hug from all of us. And Chester is holding him now. **HUGS**
As for your daughter, she made her choice and it sounds like she is actually taking some more strides into maturity. She realized that these rules were firm, and you stood your ground.
As a parent, it’s very hard to make a child understand that there are some things Mom can do and others are too much for an adult child to ask Mom to do.
Kittypaw, I am so very sorry about Thumper. I know exactly how you reacted in horror and how sad you are feeling right now. Poor Thumper, I hope he didn’t suffer too much before leaving to join my Himmi and Chester at the Rainbow Bridge. I feel so bad for you and Trayce for the helpless grief and pain you are experiencing now. Only time will help ease your suffering, but know that you did all you could to help Thumper and many other lost and abandoned kitties. You are a good person. I am sending you a big hug and a shoulder to cry on till the pain eases.
Kittypaw,
I am so sorry for your loss of Thumper. It made me sad right along with you. I had mint chocolate chip icecream to feel just a tad better.
I understand about putting limits and rules down with your children. I will pray for you and your daughter. I haven’t been around much lately, so I’m sorry to say didn’t get the whole story.
I have a son that has been very difficult, and is in Phoenix now. He is going to stay there until June of next year, he is in a home for troubled young adults, but I worry about when he comes home. He left our home in total turmoil, he did some very “bad” things to our family, which included stealing, lying, drugs and anything else he thought he could get away with. The two other children are angry with him, I guess we all are.
I love my son, but I’m still very hurt with the things he put us through. The hardest thing was telling him I didn’t want him in our home any more, and sticking to that, which I did.
Despite all that, I miss him, and can’t wait to see him. We are going to visit him in a few weeks. I hope it all goes well…
So sorry for your situation, Boyzandme. Had a bit of that many years ago with my son, and I know how difficult it is to stick to your guns and walk away. I hope for a good reconciliation with your son and peace for your hurt wounds. thanks for sharing. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Kittypaw –
I am so very sorry that you’ve suffered the loss of Thumper. I still clearly remember backing the truck over one of my outside kittens. I didn’t kill it, and had to take it and have it put down. It is a memory that is going to be slow to fade, and yet I know that I did the best I could for it and the momma and the littermates. Just keep reminding yourself that you did a wonderful thing in taking care of him and having him neutered.
As for your daughter, at least you still have contact with her, and she (and YOU) will be better off for having set limits. She will probably grow up soon, and you may be able to have a great relationship with her one day.
*picks up the adorable little baby and hugs it, absorbing all the sweet little kitty purrs to help her through work this morning*
This is the only day I have work this week. My business partner and a day laborer have been covering all the houses. I really need the money but I so wish I didn’t have to work today.
The job isn’t bad but the mobile home we clean on these fridays never seems to cool off even with the air condition running constantly. Then I have to deal with my business partner. She is the one I went camping with — the one who destroyed the only vacation I will get this year. Not only can she be a total … well, I won’t even go there, but she is also an idiot. She might have a mind but she seems dead set against using it. For example, she once got a shop vac stuck to her head. I should have known then to find a different job… *sighs*
Did she really get a shop vac stuck to her head?????
Yes, she really got a shop vac stuck to her head. It was several years ago but she still hasn’t lived it down.
Here’s the story:
I came home one day to this message on my answering machine: “Mary, do you know anything about shop vacs? Cause I have one stuck to my head.”
After my initial thought that we couldn’t possibly have heard that message right, my roommate and I listened to it again. I called her to see exactly what had happened and she told me she had been vacuuming her couch and was leaning fairly close to the shop vac when her hair suddenly got sucked into the exhaust port (which is something that I am still trying, to this day, to figure out). Instead of hitting the off switch, she starts having a tug -of- war with the vacuum with her hair as the rope. Of course she lost and started panicking when the vacuum started smelling like it was burning up. Finally, she managed to coax her 2 year old daughter into unplugging the cord. I still wonder why she didn’t roll the vacuum over to the outlet and unplug it herself, but, I guess that’s just another example of how she doesn’t use her brain.
When all was said and done, she had to have the next door neighbor disassemble the vacuum to get her hair out of it because she didn’t want to cut her hair no matter how badly damaged and burned it was from being tangled up in the shop vac motor.
that’s the best one I’ve heard in a long time! Thanks for the chuckle and good luck to you! Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
That’s so funny I almost peed on myself. I kept getting a visual. π
Owlwatcher, that is hilarious. I am sorry you are having a tough time with your business partner. Anyway you could find someone to buy her out? She sounds someone who’s elevator doesn’t quite reach the top floor. Hee hee.
Owlwatcher, I say keep this partner of yours around – she seems to provide excellent entertainment! LOL!
I’ll bet she looked kind of like Teri Hatcher did in “Spy Kids.” Funny, I remember Teri had it coming, too! π
All I could do is laugh. What a character!
Owlwatcher, sorry you have a tough time with your partner. I know about mobile homes and airconditioning. Any degree over 80 outside and it’s 90+ inside, so the air goes on. Getting central air was the best thing I did. Window units don’t cut it at all! Hope your partner starts using some of brain cells and makes your life easier! Try to enjoy the weekend and don’t work too hard! Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Dear Owlwatcher, friend and kindred spirit,
The next time this ditz has a problem with any sort of complex machinery (that includes kleenexes, cutlery, and paper products), please try not to rescue her. Just get it on video.
Love,
Emma
I am out of here until Tuesday. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Hugs to all! (one last pet for tiger tummy on the way out)
Have fun ppearson! See ya Tuesday!

OK, got the catster URL back and should show pink on the comment line now…?
Gave The Gimpster his votes this morning–Go Gimpy! π
Tigger Tummy is a doll. I would love to give that full little belly a snorgle. Is there anything better than loving on a kitten? π
Back home now from our trip to Ashland, Oregon where we saw three plays at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival. Romeo and Juliet was performed in the outdoor theatre underneath a starry sky. It was beautifully done.
Digit was very standoffish when we got home. Apparently she and Furl spent the entire two and a half days we were gone hiding out (according to my 91-year-old father-in-law). Digit did much stalking just out of reach and knocked her food bowl over for the first time ever. All was forgiven by bedtime and she was generous with her snuggles and purrs this morning. They do have a way to communicate their displeasure, don’t they??! π
They certainly do. Glad she got over it and loves you again!!
I’m gonna pull a Dee and paste a link to an interesting article about how the Nevada Humane Society in Reno is dealing with ferals — turn ’em into barn cats!

Happy long weekend, all!
I have a cousin in Nebraska and her vet takes in ferals and gives them away as barn cats. My cousin has about 7 of them. Or she did at last count – she may have more now.

Did anyone see Letterman last night? Hillary Clinton was a guest. During a slight lull in the interview, out of the blue, David asked, “So, what’s the deal with Senator Craig?” She cracked up–and so did the audience. Hysterical!

Such a darling little baby! Blessings always. Who is that kitty in the background? π
Am I the only one seeing the second kitty in the background?? Not the black one… the grey one. Look at the black cat, then the green towel and at the other end of the green towel, against the wall.
Nope..it is there little grey fuzzball.
Whew.. I was beginning to think I had too many virtual mimosas and was seing grey kitties instead of pink elephants. :lo: I’m partial to grey kitties.. π

**Couple Wins $5 Million Lottery Jackpot, Their Second Lotto Win In 8 Years**
POSTED: 10:41 am PDT August 31, 2007
NEW YORK — How lucky can you get?
Adeline and Eugene Angelo won $5 million Thursday after buying the winning ticket in last week’s New York Lotto. In 1996, they won $2.5 million after splitting a $10 million jackpot with three other people.
Eugene Angelo, 81, said he and his wife would share their new fortune with their three sons and their families. Taking the lump-sum payment of $2.5 million, Eugene and Adeline and each of their sons will get about $513,000 before taxes.
“We’re a little older, a little wiser and there are a few more of us, when you count the grandkids,” Eugene Angelo said. “We’re still the same old people. Still very excited. It’s a great feeling.”
Adeline Angelo, 74, a retired medical secretary, said she hoped the new money will “buy us good health and longevity.”
With the winnings from their last big prize, the couple moved from the Bronx to Putnam County, about 50 miles north of the city. Eugene Angelo said they would continue to live modestly. And still buy lottery tickets, “just for the fun of it,” his wife added.
Acting Lottery Director Gardner Gurney said this was only the third time in Lotto’s history that a winner has hit the jackpot twice. The odds of winning just once were 22.5 million to one.
“The Angelos are living proof that lightning, or in this case, random luck, can strike twice,” he said.
Gee, it just seems not right……
Tonight Mega Millions is over 300 million…that would do a lot of good for the kitties. Everyone wish me luck! π
Good luck and if you win, I am ready to be adopted too!!! Hugs and Purrs Lynn
Me too…I volunteer to be your new adoptee. π I will help you help all the kitties.
Do they wanna adopt? If so, I’m available!

**New Zealand Burglar Returns Stolen Goods, Apologizes To Victim In Note**
POSTED: 10:44 am PDT August 31, 2007
WELLINGTON, New Zealand — A burglar visited Graeme Glass’ home in New Zealand twice in one day — first to steal some goods and later to return them, along with a heartfelt apology note.
The thief struck while Glass was at work in the southern resort of Queenstown on Tuesday.
The burglar smashed a window to gain entry and made off with a laptop computer, a camera, and Glass’s wallet with an American Express credit card.
The thief returned the goods later in the day, along with a new basketball and two pairs of gloves bought on the stolen credit card.
Glass and his wife, Shirley, discovered the loot piled on their kitchen table with a neat, handwritten full-page note from the burglar saying he was sorry for “violating the safety and security of your home.”
The robber also promised to leave cash in Glass’ mailbox to pay for the smashed window when he had enough money.
“I have never written truer words when I say that I wish that I had never done this to you and your family,” the note read. “From the bottom of my heart I am sorry.”
Queenstown police said they have a description of the thief from staff in the stores where the credit card was used.
Happy Blog Day 2007! I linked to your blog from mine.
oh he is super cute with that lil tiger look! glad nelson found a furever home and bless you for fostering the little angels π
Good afternoon TDKers,
I am sitting in a subdivision today (I am a real estate agent) and not one person has come in. I even drifted off for a bit, waking to find myself face-down on the desk in a small puddle of drool. That would have been something for the builder to come in and see!
Tomorrow back to my other job with Lancome. I wish I had the weekend off like normal people. I am off on Sunday and *possibly* Monday…may go in for Labor Day if they give me time-and-a-half. Though it would be nice to have the day off with my 10 year old son.
Kittypaw in Memphis, you are in my thoughts and prayers today. I would have been hysterical crying. Have also had the grown child not wanting to follow rules thing. My 19 and 20 year old sons chose to live with their dad, where things are more lenient. π
Catwoman, sorry your day was slow, so was mine, which gave me a chance to get on today. Hope you get some time off to be with your son. Have a good weekend and I hope you get to relax. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
To those of you who were asking where Richard Simmons has been lately…
http://www.oceanspray.com/
I don’t recall anybody asking about him?
a couple weeks ago, I believe. And I was wondering myself–just saw him in my email!
Dee…….Did you check out the Spicy Cranberry Pork recipe on the Oceanspray site ? Maybe for ham, also. π‘
They have nice recipes on that site. I love cranberries–I freeze a few bags at Thanksgiving and cook and bake with them during the year. And the Richard Simmons video made me laugh!
pretty interesting…

So cute!!
It’s like a mini-Garfield!
Aww!!
I’m so glad this kitty is having a healthy and happy life. And, I more than glad to hear it has a home.
~Stop Kitten Abuse~
Since I put dinner out late yesterday I figured I’d serve dinner early this evening. (feeds kitten slice of meatloaf that ‘accidentally’ fell on the floor) I have meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, steamed broccoli with cheese sauce, yellow string beans with a hint of lemon thyme, baked sweet potatoes with extra butter and just a small crust of torched brown sugar, rosette dinner rolls, iced tea, chocolate chip chocolate brownies with Tahitian vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and crushed ladyfinger crumbs atop, pear pie, and SoCo martinis. Who wants eats?
Nyahmmm… That’s what I call a little night snack. Thanks, Vicki!
Thanks for allowing me to dream while I sip my diet coke. Hmmm…700 miles? I think I can get there before the next dinner… π
–Vicki–
You keep this up & I’m just going to have to move in.
*don’t want to sound ungrateful, but, do I have to eat the sweet potatoes? Everything else sounds wonderful, especially the broccoli & cheese
Yummmmmmm
I’ll have some meatloaf and mashed potatoes. But you can keep the yucky gravy and all the rest of that stuff. I’m sure somebody else will eat my portion. π
Works for me Vicki, when can you move in!!!???? Hugs and Purrs, Lynn

I love them!
**’Virgin Chicken’ Off The Menu In Beijing**
BEIJING (AP) — Hungry visitors to next summer’s Beijing Olympics won’t have to choose between “steamed crap” and “virgin chicken” if Chinese authorities succeed in ridding restaurant menus of mangled English translations.
The Beijing Tourism Bureau has released a list with 2,753 proposed names for dishes and drinks, designed to replace bizarre and sometimes ridiculous translations on menus, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Friday.
Foreigners are often stumped by dish names such as “virgin chicken” (a young chicken dish) or “burnt lion’s head” (Chinese-style pork meatballs). Other garbled names include “The temple explodes the chicken cube” (kung pao chicken) or “steamed crap” (steamed carp).
“These translations either scare or embarrass foreign customers and may cause misunderstanding on China’s diet habits,” Xinhua said.
It’s the latest effort by Beijing Olympics organizers to clean up the city and ensure that the best image is presented to the hundreds of thousands of visitors expected next summer.
Etiquette campaigns are afoot to stamp out bad manners such as jumping ahead in line, spitting, littering and reckless driving. The revised menu names are part of an effort to ban unintelligible English, known as “Chinglish,” that abounds on signs everywhere.
A team set up by the Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Beijing Tourism Bureau has been working on the menu names for more than a year, Xinhua said. Translators developed names for dishes based on one of four categories: ingredients, cooking method, taste, or the name of a person or place.
For example, a dish with mushrooms and ducks’ feet will be listed as simply “Mushroom-Duck’s Foot.” Others proposed names include “Fish Filets in Hot Chili Oil” and “Crispy Chicken.”
The tourism bureau is soliciting public opinion on the translations. Once a final decision is made on the list of names, they will be used in restaurants across China, Xinhua said.

Don’t mean to sound unfluffy….
I still have a problem when there are animals still getting sick & dieing from food imported into our country
Maybe it really is steamed crap
Sorry….Promise….No more unfluffy
And don’t forget the poison toothpaste ahe lead-filled toys!
Most of those translations are just funny to me. I’m aware that some people get upset, but you know? It happens. We probably mangle stuff in other languages just as badly all the time. Learning to look past that is part of the real communications process.
Besides, the only way to travel happy is to plan ahead, relax, and take what you find. Otherwise, you’ll spend your whole trip in a knot of frustration and won’t have any fun at all.

I should comment on little Tiger Tummy. He is just precious!
I once had a little orange kitten like that. My brother, who was a teeneager at the time, went down into the sewer to rescue a kitten that neighborhood kids told him was down there mewing. I am older than my bro and lived out on my own, so he brought the kitten that he dubbed “O’Riley” to my house. The kitten rode on his knee the entire way. Since O’Riley was so teeny we nicknamed him “the little kitty” and eventually just “little kitty.” Later when he reached 20+ pounds people thought that we called him that as a joke. He lived to be 18 years old and spend much of that time sleeping on the couch like an overstuffed pillow. He like to visit the school on pet day and would walk in on a leash, much to everyone’s astonishment.
Great information here…

http://www.hsus.org/acf/fighting/dogfight/what_you_can_do.html
To answer FondaHonda’s question posted earlier today. I teach German to children aged 12 – 18 (beginners to A-Level, otherwise known as university entrance level), and French to the “babies”, reception to year 3 or 4, in other words to children aged 4 – 7ish.
I am also pastoral team leader KS3 which means that I look after the welfare of all the children in school in Years 7, 8 & 9, (ages 11 – 14), and in my spare time…………
Quick, pass the kitty again!!
Wow, Polly’s mom, you are quite the teacher! I bow to you expertise. Thanks for all you do for the children. Hugs and purrs, Lynn

Kate the Grate, saw that you are in Long Beach, I grew up in Bellflower and my parents still live there. Its a small world isn’t it, enjoy your weekend.
Kittypaw, you have my sympathy and condolences on Thumpers passing over the bridge. He knew love and caring because of you, and will surely be waiting with Chester and everyone else for you.
As for your daughter, that is a tough call and I know it pulls at the heartstrings but you laid out the rules of the house and she choose not to accept them. Its hard when they grow up, become adults, because we as parents want to be there for them. But on the other hand, we as parents also have the expectation of a nice life without a lot of unneeded grief (doesn’t always happen but we can want it) from our children. I say this from personal experience, my mother is a very nice, naive person who has let two of my brothers, 48 & 43 still live at home while not working and mooching off of her social security when they can. All because they are her sons and what else can she do, according to her..sigh.
Cutie!
Yesterday someone asked me why I might adopt someone from Africa when there are children in the U.S. that need help too.
Ben and I went to Africa about two years ago. We went to an orphanage and heard about a little girl whose parents were killed. She had been waiting for a home ever since. We met her and immediately fell in love. She was sweet and playful. Ben and I knew that she should be our daughter. We delayed the adoption because of many things: Ben and I moved, Ben’s dog was sick, and my career was finally taking off. We had planned to adopt her in 2008.
There are many orphan children in the U.S. that do need our help. But after meeting Adelle there is no other child I would rather adopt now. Caitlin and Christopher are all for it, and I’m sure if Jacob could understand he would be all for it too. I’m about 80% sure now. If I do adopt her she will be coming home at the same time she would have been if Ben was here.*
More power to you Christine, I could not adopt, but my sister is thinking of adopting or fostering. All kids need a home, regardless of where they live.
I have a daughter (Kaitlin) and that is enough for me. I think it takes special people to raise kids, I just think I am better with the 4 legged kind. My mom suggested, when she brought the kittens, that I go back to school to get a Veternarian degree. I just don’t think I can work that hard for a degree again.
PS I am glad you are part of our growing family……
Hello Christine,
I am so glad you have joined our TDK family. It is nice to see you here and to read your posts.
I love the name Adelle. How special that you and Ben fell in love with her and wanted to adopt her. Awwww…. How fortunate she is to have your love.
I’m so sorry about Ben, and your family has my prayers, thoughts and hugs too! I love hearing about your family.
I hope all goes smooth with the adoption. How old is she now? Do you keep in touch with her? I look forward to hearing more….
Have a great weekend!
Thank you! Edelle is almost six years old now. We do keep in touch by letters and email. Luckily she does speak much English, more than Caitlin and Christopher could. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for your reply Christine.
Oops, got the name wrong… Edelle, still a very pretty name. That’s great you keep n touch with her. That is a plus that she speaks good English.
Bless each one of you!
Good night! π
Foster Fuzzz
SOOOOO cute! I do not have any orangies in my foster litter π Probably a good thing, I would have to keep one!
The babies are growing quickly, and developing personalities. I love them all and hope they all get good homes through PAALS. They got thier first shots last weekend, and will get the second in the series next weekend so they can then be altered and then put up for adoption. One of the litte siamese, the darkest one (Parker), got his front paw tangled up in string from a towel that was in the room. The limb was swollen and he did not really walk on it for two days. Boy did I feel awfull! He is using it now, and walking and climbing. When he jumps off things (Has learned how to get over the fence I have in the doorway to keep them corralled) He shakes and licks it like it hurts. There was nothing the vet could do, but wait and see if the limb recovers and that it did not die, which it did not. He may always have some problems with it. But I tell you that boy can climb!! I walk into the room and he climbs my leg to get to me. I don’t want it to be a habit, but it is hard to break when there are 5 trying to climb you. (the room is a no short zone!!) Several are still really pretty small and may be behind the adoption schedule, Marie and Hudson (aka Freckles).
Any suggestions to break the finger biting habit?
To break the finger biting habit, don’t feed them from your fingertips. Also, definitely DON’T play with them with your hands! Use a toy on a string or stick, but don’t use your hands as a tease toy. That’s a very quick route to scratching or nipping at your hands.
When I raise kittens, I teach them that hands are for petting only. If they’re feral, I’ll start out with having them lick food off my fingertips to get them past their fear of my hands. But my hands are never used as toys or playthings. If they scratch or bite my hands, I’ll make a brief, loud, irritated sound. That’s usually enough to act as a deterrent, if I do it consistently.
Good luck!
testing .. sorry folks i have not very familiar with these blog thingies
I’m Kittypaw’s rescue buddy. Just wanted to say i appreciate your support and thanks for your prayers, purrs, and hugs! We have been very blessed with the 3 adults and 5 lil guys that we have been able to catch. I know that Jumper is in a better place and it didnt occur to me until Kitty said he is there with people who care just like we did when he was here. That made it easier to deal with what happened. So once again i thank you all!
Hello Trayce,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the site! My heart breaks for both of you for losing sweet Jumper. :'( I’m so sorry for what he went through and especially for your breaking hearts. Awww…..
Many hugs to both of you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers as well.
Hope to see more posts from you! π
Thanks so much! Actually we lost Thumper. Jumper, Thumper’s brother was socialized (by Kittypaw) and now lives with me. It is quite a family of ferals we have. π Makes me smile everytime Kitty and I are able to walk so close to Momma and talk to her and she lets us get a little closer everytime. I know she wont ever be socialized but it still feels like we are building bridges.
Trayce, hey girl, welcome to the site. I am so glad that Kitty told you about us. Please come and visit often and know that our prayers are with you both right now. Try to have a good weekend and know that your sorrow is ours as well. Keep up the good work you are doing. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Hi Trayce,
Glad you’re with us. I am so sad for you and KittyPaw regarding Thumper. I was broken up just reading about it. So, so sorry.
Positive and healing energy to all who need it. And even those who don’t. We all deserve a few days of r&r, and I am looking forward to mine.
What a curious little fuzz ball we have today. And yes, there are 2 kitties in the background. I pulled the pic to my desktop and opened it in Photoshop so I could see it as closely as I could. And there are 2!
I’ll be happy to share dinner with you Vicki, but no meat, thanks. Yum to the rest of it.
Good luck with the adoption Christine. I hope all goes well. You have a lot of courage to take on such responsibilities.
MerD, try clipping little kitties claws. They may not be able to climp so easily without those baby needles. Ouch! I clip tiny babies claws to take the edge off.
I’ll be around for a few more hours, then it’s 3 days off till I see y’ll again.
Good evening Artistabobbie,
Nice to see you here. I hope you have a wonderful 3 days off! I am like you and don’t care for meat. I eat free range chicken on occasion. I cook it for the cats though. I was brought up eating meat, but then met a vegetarian family and wow, what wonderful food!
How long have you been a vegetarian?
Hugs to you!
artistabobbi, glad to see you on the “night shift”! Hope all is well and you get some rest and relaxation during the next 3 days! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Hi Bunblebee and Lynn,
Yeah, I’m one of THOSE night people. I enjoy reading comments from both of you guys.
I’ve been a veggie for 20 yrs or so. I went from eating meat 3 times a day to none. I read Robbins book Diet for a New America, and that was that. They were taking bets where I worked about how long I would last. Hah! I fooled them all.
But, Huddy’s Mama, I loved crispy bacon and rib-eye steak, too, and although I have substituted soy bacon, you guys make my mouth water at times. – But I just can’t.
Happy Labor Day!
Hi again, hey we all do what we do. I couldn’t be a vegatarian, I do like my meat and eggs. But heck, what works for one may not work for the other. Sorry your mouth waters, blame HM, it’s ok!!!!!!! I don’t always get on at night, depending if I can hit the computer at work. Love talking to you when I can. Happy Labor Day to you too. Talk soon, hugs and purrs, Lynn
Cuteness overload for Tiger Tummy! I put in 5 more votes for Gimpy….he looks just like my precious Peebee!
I’m 14 hours late (was here at midnight but was unable to post for some reason) but better late than never, It’s Spring today, goodbye winter. Happy Birthday to my daughter.
Love wee Nelson, it was kismet that he was fostered by you.
Hey, Antipodean moonshadow, glad you have spring coming as we are all heading to fall to winter. Enjoy the spring season and pray for all of us that will be getting snow and ice! Happy birthday to your daughter, many more happy and healthy years ahead. Stay in touch. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Lynn from PA. I’ll think of all of you with snow and ice coming soon. We don’t get snow where I am, just cold and wet. But we do get Christmas in the sun.
Imagine what the menu would be for a hot sunny Christmas.
JCL
Antipodean Moonshadow, NZ — it’s ironic reading your comments about the beginning of spring for y’all, because I was just thinking about that warm and cozy feeling we all get when spring has sprung!
Or something to that effect!
Enjoy your spring as I face another “bone-chilling” winter here in the subtropics of the American deep south.
— The CatWrangler from Louisiana
Bumblebee, are you still here?
Oh, bumblebee, where are you flying to tonight??!!
Hey, Lynn,
I posted behind your post behind my post.
great, friday night and a holiday weekend and you expect me to get this one!!!!!!!!!! It’s ok, posted behind your post of my post behind your post! Got it!! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
I was finally able to cast my votes for Gimpy and Bob. Go, Gimpy, Go Bob. !!!!!!!!
Yea, me too! I couldn’t forget! I hope since Bob is on this month, it won’t ruin his chances for Sept.? What do you think?
Here are hot choc chip cookies to share. They have walnuts and raisins in them too. Oh so yummy!! π
What the heck happened to Bumblebee? “Night shift down one employee.” Will have to review and decide on proper disiplinary action on the absent Bumblebee. Maybe clipping her wings will bring her to responding at the appropriate time!! Just kidding girlfriend, hope all is well. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Oh Lynn,
I was looking for you.. Gee…. I go away for a bit and there you are! I am making choc chip cookies for all of us! YUM!!!
HUGS to you! Glad you are feeling better sweetie! π
Hugs to you girlfriend and where the heck were you??!! You know not to fly off and get lost when we are talking with the rest of the night shift!! Just kidding. Am feeling much better, thanks to your words and just moving the attitude around. Sometimes, the answers are the simplest ones. At least this time! Give me the cookies!!! Love ya, Lynn
Sorry I was “absent” :o] I’ll try better next time!! π Thanks for missing me!
Forgiven, as always! Love Lynn
Ha ha!!!!
Bumblebee must have left for dinner with Vicki.
I haven’t seen Bumblebee. I didn’t know you were vegetarian; will you help me think of meat alternatives to prepare for dinner that are not Tofurky? π
I am not a total vegetarian. I eat free range eggs and organic milk, etc. Once in a great while I will eat some meat, but most of the time it just tastes bad to me for some reason. Maybe my hormones? They have free range ground beef where I work. Haven’t tried it yet.
Wish I had tons of money, I would give the dog and cats all organice, free range food…..
I have that thyroid problem so stay away from the hormones, as I drink a lot of milk.
Could be, will have to ask Bumblebee about that one. Dinner was wonderful, so who could blame her?! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
What is going on with TDG? First I had no kittens for 5 days, (severe cuteness withdrawl) then it took me a few days to find comments.
How cute the little orange baby is. I have 2 orangies, one long haired, and one short
Hi Cncl, I see that by your post you are having a problem. It could be that you are typing in TDG when this site is TDK. I don’t know if this is the problem, if it is, find thedailykitten.com and save it to your favorites or add it to your Yahoo page. Welcome aboard and glad you found us anyway! Have a good Labor Day weekend. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
I was thinking the same thing. And yahoo had no kittens for a few days.
Yeah, had the same problem here. But as long as I clicked on the main heading of the daily kitten, I could recoup what I hadn’t seen. Just didn’t have the daily names of the new kitty’s. Hope she can solve the problem. If not, hope she or he, sorry to make an assumption, will come back and let us help her or him make it right. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
I know Kittenmaster was working on TDK earlier today when I tried to read yesterday’s comments.
I was reading his blog and such and reading about “Penis restaurants” YUK! He is such a character!
Kittenmaster you rock! π
ok, Bumblebee, no wonder you weren’t here! Penis restaurants, don’t know if I wanna go there! If it’s ok with you, then it’s ok with me. BTW, how do you get into his blog. Now you have my curiosity peaked! Hugs and purrs.
Oh Lynn,
You make me laugh! Since the site wasn’t on cause of repairs or whatever, I went over to Kittenwars I guess? There is an article and as I was reading it, his name came up and I clicked on it. Then onto other sites and such he had on there. He is too funny and such a wonderful guy! How fortunate we are to have him.
Thanks Kittenmaster….. Do you know how wonderful you are???? π
Lynn I was reading about that around 9am. I am really making choc chip cookies, for real! Wish I could give you some. Too bad I cannot send them through the computer.
Just push them through the mouse, the cat will get them and then kittenmaster will post them, I will download them through the daily kitten and all will be well!!!!!!!!!!! thanks hon, Love Lynn
Oh, Lynn, That is TOO funny!!! Ha ha!!!! π π
I have a few snacks for the night crowd and for those who may have missed dinner. There’s meatloaf sandwiches, a cheese tray, whole-wheat crackers with caraway seeds, sweet gherkins and cornichons, dill pickle chips, a cruditΓΒ© platter, sliced apples with honey yogurt peach dip, chocolate chip cookies, s’mores, your choice of either 2% milk, rice milk, or soy milk, and chocolate martinis. Who wants eats?
Hey Vicki, thanks for the snacks after dinner! Still a bit full, but some pickles and veggies sound real good right now. Thanks for the offerings. Sure you don’t wanna move in??!! Hugs and purrs Lynn
Oh, I see you already have choc chip cookies. Wanna try mine? They have nuts and raisins in them as well. Really yumm I gotta say. Mmmmmm……
Hey, Bumblebee,
I left you a post earlier.
It’s behind my long post.
Thanks artistabobbie!!! π
Vicki,
I’m gaining weight just reading the list.
Gimme cheese, cheese, cheese ‘n crackers. Never had a chocolate martini. But chocolate! Yum! Fruit!!!
Margaritas in my part of the country.
You guys are too funny! Food in the morning, with the 1st shift and you guys on night shift! All sound yummy and taste fine! Not into fruity drinks, will take my beer and just graze around the table if that is ok. Keep the vitals coming! Love the variety of all the food. What a wonderful site this is! Some much food, so little stomach room! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Yes, this IS a grand site! We are so blessed to be a part of it and be loved by so many wonderful kitty lovin people!!!
Lynn, I am so glad you don’t have to rush off to bed right now. I am the one who has to get up earlier tomorrow am than usual. Ha ha… I am not the least bit tired. I am a night owl. Hoo Hoo….. π
Hey girl, up way past my bedtime but glad to be hanging, think it was just what I needed. Smile on my face and happy as H*ll to be talking with you. Sorry you have to be up early, why? Don’t know if I know what kind of work you do. I know you said before you were a night owl. I, however, have to be up early during the week, so I am not. thanks to the long weekend, I can hang for a bit here. However, have to lay new tile on my kitchen floor tomorrow and can’t stay up too much longer, or God only know’s what it will look like. See you in a bit. Lynn
Lynn dear,
I am a cashier in a food store. My hours vary each day. Awww I am touched that you are glad to be talking with me. π
That is so sweet. I feel loved…. I have to work tomorrow.
Do you have a computer at home? I guess so huh, otherwise how would you be talking to us. Duh! :/
I wish I could come and help you lay the tile. Wouldn’t we have fun!? π
Bumblebee, good for you. Love the cashiers at the food store. I have seen people treat them badly on many occasions and have the deepest respect for their job. I like to bag my own groceries, since alot of the stores down my way don’t know how to train the baggers how to do it. Example, don’t put eggs on the bottom and canned goods on top. Don’t throw the tomatos in and anything else on top. I have fun at the Acme I go to here. Have a favorite cashier and it’s a race to see who gets done first, me or her. I am proud to say, normally me. Have alot of coupons and that takes up her time and allows me to “win”!!! Have been offered jobs as a bagger at 3 stores in the last years, but I just laugh it off and have fun with the game. Don’t know if I could be fluffy with some of the customers.
Yes I have a computer at home, but don’t always go on at night, since I spend some of my day at work on one. Just when I need a fix of my friends, do I come on. Yes we would have great fun laying the tile, I am sure. Wish me luck!! Mobile homes are not squared out very well, so I see alot of cutting in my future!
Ok, dear friend, have to go to bed, almost midnight. Will talk over the weekend, I hope. If not, have a good one and will catch up to you next week. Enjoy and don’t work too hard. Hugs, purrs, and love, Lynn
Night night Lynn, my Pa. buddy!!
See ya tomorrow!!
HUGS to you!
Good Night, Buddy! See ya later, Lynn
I have to get up before noon tomorrow, too. That’s early for me. I am often still reading when the sun comes up.
By the way, this is the only site I have ever blogged to. ever.
Hear that kittenmaster!
I know that you work odd hours, artistabobbi. I understand why you are on late. And if no one is up, since most of the posters are early in the day and afternoon, you have no one to talk to. I don’t envy you your hours, and don’t know how you do it. What sort of job has you keeping these hours and do you like it? Will hang with you when I can. This is the only site I have every blogged to also and the only one I do. Kittenmaster has done many of us a service just by his love of kittens. Through him, many of us have found friends, comfort and a safe haven to let out any and all problems. He has no idea what he has done for many of us here. KM, know that we love you and thank you for having this website. Without you, I don’t know what some of us would have done. Happy Labor Day! Bobbi, have a good day tomorrow. Will try to catch you over the weekend. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Amen Lynn,
You said it all so purfectly!!
We love you kittenmaster!!!!
I am a graphic artist for the Dallas Morning News. Been in the business a long time, here for 8 yrs or so. We have a small night shift 4 – 12:30, but we’re getting off early tonight because of the holiday, AND work is done.
Makes it hard for the weekend to try to keep normal hrs.
Yeah, like the job and I have good bosses.
Hey Artistabobbie,
I work a lot of weekends, but most of the time there is nothing going on at home, and we get paid $2 xtra per hour on Sundays. So it’s worth it.
I also like my job, the bosses and co workers. I get along well with everyone.
Do you work weekends too?
No weekends for me, and strictly volunteer for the holidays. The paper has to get out 7 days a week, so we do have light coverage on the weekends, too.
What do you do, bumblebee?
I’m a cashier at a grocery store. I used to work in the snack bar before that for a couple years. I made the homemade soups etc. Fun!
I enjoy cashiering.. Most of my customers are nice. I treat them as best I can and try to be understanding. Old people or ones with a cane, I especially fuss over… They always appreciate it. π Hey, we’ll all be old one day…..
Glad you don’t have to work weekends… I don’t really mind most of the time. I work most holidays as well, as I get paid an extra 4 hours for that if I work it or now. Nice.
Sounds nice. I already AM old – I could retire, except I just bought a car, and I want to pay it off first.
I know several people who cashier, and most like it a lot. I don’t think I could stand that long.
We, we just got the “go home” signal, so it’t over for me.
Have a great weekend, and don’t work too hard.
bobbi
Can’t bring the kits to work, though.
Bumblebee and Bobbi, gotta go now. Very tired and loved the talking back and forth. Glad you both like your jobs and Bobbi, glad that you are getting some time off. Don’t know exactly what graphic artists do, “very computer illerate here”, but look forward to hearing about it. Hope you both have a good weekend and will try to connect over the weekend.
*supervisor for night shift allowing employees to go about their merry way in light of the holiday weekend and turns a blind eye to any and all activity til Tuesday evening, enjoy!*
Have a good one girls, talk soon. Much love, hugs and purrs, Lynn

Sweetie pie! I want him!! π
Evening all, especially to all the late night workers (aka midshift). This is my preferred shift even after the powers to be changed our hours from 10 pm – 6 am to 12-8 am (the two hours sure make a difference in sleep patters, now they bite for sure). The advantage is less people around, it gives me a chance to read all the days comments on TDK, and my body does better sleeping during the daylight hours.
All three of the little guys shown today are cuties, I do admit to having a special affinity for orangies. 2 of mine are orangies, the other two are half meezer and dsh….and you would know that Haje is definitely half meezer – he talks constantly from the time I come in the house, and even wakes me up wanting to talk, sigh. They are family though, as much as my grown children are.
Have a great morning, back to work for now, ciao
Hey, its dark !
No, actually, it’s midday on Saturday!!!!
Awwww ur so cute Nelson (Tiger Tummy), who are the lil kitties in the back???
Only a couple of hours until the next kitty. Whoo hooo!
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to stop in to see how everyone is. I have had another great week, although I got my heart broken again (!), but not by a human, this time- I had gone to the humane society to see a customer, and a friend from another dealership was there as well. He got the opportunity of a lifetime, to be lead tech at a new dealership in Colorado. But he couldn’t take his cat with him, so he was returning him to the HS. I held him (the cat, named Thomas), and he fell asleep in my arms- but I am only allowed 2 pets in this complex, so I had to give him back. I have gone by to check in on him, though, he’s fine, and I am surprised no one has taken him home yet…so very kind & mellow.

I don’t mean to sound judgemental, but why on earth could he not take his cat with him? I would not consider any position, even “the opportunity of a lifetime,” if I had to leave my cat behind. Imagine how bewildered the poor kitty is, wondering when his owner is coming back to get him. When people tell me that they could not bring their pets with them when they moved I always ask, “And what did you do with your children?”
With that pudgey little tummy, he looks like a “Full Nelson”
Tee hee hee
HOW CUTE XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
HIS HE FOR SALE LOL
Thank and Bless you for fostering this cutie and finding a forever home for Nelson. Looks like just in time, he needs a little fattening up.
