Huddy’s Mama (said in a sing song voice) I’ve got bacon! Coffee too! Eggs? Steak? I have whatever you are craving if you will share little Sara in all her Calico glory!
Missed you yesterday!
Ha ha! You beat me to it – I was fetching my stash of bacon so I could tempt Huddy’s Mama into the sharing circle!
*takes Sara to the sharing circle*
She’s a calico so she won’t mind. They are mellow kitties.
And yet feisty cats, too. My late calico showed everyone that she was the boss.
My late calico, Kirby, was a “one-woman” cat. She didn’t like ANYBODY else in the whole world, and she let them know it! When I had a friend take care of her (at home, in my own house), she would attack Gloria, hiss and bat at her whenever she could. (Kirby didn’t have front claws, so she didn’t do any damage there). Fortunately Kirby didn’t bite, either, so Gloria didn’t mind caring for her. I always wished she was more friendly with other people. Max is so friendly I have to get him off people (especially men), Molly is a little more subdued. I have always had and alway will have a special spot in my heart for calico kitties. Bless you, Sara, you’re beautiful
Bob’s only when he wants to be, and except for his Mams, he seems to prefer men, like Max. I don’t know why, he hasn’t spent much time around guys – maybe that’s why they are more interesting? His favorite guy is still his uncle who disappeared!
Hmmm, that was supposed to say “only friendly..”
Yikes, more coffee needed – STAT! “except for his mama”!!!!
Double shot mocha latte coming right up!
Ahhh, much better – thanks, ppearson!
It’s those ‘finger gremlins” again.
Bad gremlins!
Don’t blame the fingers! It’s the keyboard goblins, I tell you. 😛
I think calicos are more voicey than other cats. Miss Daisy lets me know just about any thing. Particulary when her food dish is getting empty. Calicos are love muffins, too.
I’ve got ribs on the grill!! Share little Sara with us HM!! We missed ya yesterday!
I missed you guys too. Seems like forever since I’ve been here. But it’s been a couple of days.
Had to go to the doctor on Friday and learned the PT has messed me up too bad to have my shots. So I get to go 9/6 to get my shots.
So that’s another day off. 🙁
I was so mad I started crying (not a big cryer) and the man friend felt so bad for me he was my humble servant all weekend.
Awwww… Sorry Hm…. Big hugs to you sweetie. Bless that Man Friend for taking such care of you!!!
I also missed you!!! 🙂
I oughta give him a medal.
I was fuming after we left the doctors and I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up some medicine and I’m sure with the words I was using there was a blue cloud over my head, know what I mean?
Some lady overhears me – I promise you guys, I was not swearing that loudly, she was just being nosy – and comes over to me and launches into this huge spiel about me ‘needing to give my life to God’ and ‘if I was a good Christian I wouldn’t use that sort of language.’ It was the LAST STRAW!!
I told her: “Lady, if you don’t stay outta my business and leave me the (expletive) alone, trust me when I tell you you will be going to see God very soon.”
It was none of her business.
I’ve been a little unfluffy every since that happened.
Been there, done that. And being able to tell someone to back off lifted my spirits considerably. Didn’t you feel a little better afterwards?
I really did!!
I SO understand about the crying. I messed up while on vacation and left one pill out of the 20 I take in the morings out of the pill container I packed. (I do the individual daily pill containers for trips.) I had packed an extra day’s worth in case the plane got delayed, etc but missed the one pill which turned out to be a blood pressure pill. I didn’t realize it until Saturday and got so mad at myself I was I was partially crying. The EMTs who took my blood pressure trying to tell me to calm down didn’t help. (They were threatening to send me to the ER).
😆 Good he made you feel better when you got home.
Aaargh! Why is it that the ones who are so fast to scold others about not acting like a good Christian are so rarely examples of patience, compassion, and love? A good person would either mind her own business or say something like, “Something’s really upset you–is there anything that I can do?”
*hugs* to you and *hsssssss* to her.
Ann,
Yes, isn’t that true!
I sorry you had such a hard time HM. I hope things get better soon. You are right Ann. Christians should behave like Chrsitians, walk the walk not just talk the talk. There a saying, somthing like “your behavior is speaking so loud I can’t hear what you are saying”.
Going to church doesn’t make you any more of a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.
you’re quick this morning HM
Such a pretty watercolor kitty
I had a calico once that was the most beautiful cat I ever saw, but she wouldn’t have thrown me a rope if I was drowning.
You can’t go by looks!
Terrific Tuesday, TDKers! Another
great kitty to start the day!
I do so love calicoes.
Pretty kitty!
Me, too. And this one’s gorgeous.
That skinny long tail is so silly, I love it.
OMG – too cute for words
What a precious little calico – sleeping so sweetly! So deceptive! 😉
Good morning Tdk family for breakfast kids are making Bacon and pancakes
Sara is soo cute! Named after my grandma
Hi Dorie –
My Grandmother’s name was Sara too! My dad was the oldest of 12 kids – wonder if we’re related!!
Hey Joan,
My family is very big and goes back to Bull Smith ( smithtown was named after him) i’m his 12 generation and i’m in the family history book so are my kids (13 generation) so yea we could be related,
Works for me! Hey ‘cuz!!!
back at ya cuz!! 🙂 see ya at the next family reonion!! LOL
Hello Dorie,
Welcome back. We missed you. I commented on your post last night too.
Hi bumblebee
waves hand as best as I can with Chucky helping me type, He has been a mush since I got back. As soon as I sit it’s his que to climb on my lap and get loving! So not like him!!! He missed me, Actually missed me!!
Just darling!
Has anyone heard from Karin? She didn’t post Sunday or yesterday, that I could see. Hope the interview went well on Friday… and that all is well….
I heard from Karin yesterday. She’s waiting to hear about the interview at the end of this week. Let’s all keep our fingers and paws crossed for her!
Go Karin!
And Go Gimpy!!!!!
Missy, where are you?
Hi Great Dane, hi Bob!!!
Hi Huddy’s Mama!!!!!
Sorry to hear about your medical troubles – and sorry to admit you had me laughing at your story about the lady scolding you and telling you to find God! I feel bad, but I would have loved to see her face after you told her off!
Hats off to the man friend – he sounds like a keeper! I’m glad you have him in your life.
Bob wants me to say hi to his pal Huddy – Hi Huddy!
*Huddy waves a friendly paw and a stumpy tail in Bob’s direction*
🙂
OMG!! Squeeze-squeeze-squeeze!!!!
🙂
She looks like one of those toy sleeping cats that are in a basket and when you turn on a switch, they breathe. Very lifelike! Are we sure this one is real? She’s just too cute! 😉
I think Sara is simply resting up for another session of “kitten”. She’s gorgeous…On my packing to move, I’m up to 75-80 percent done…3.50 days to go…I am already so tired of moving…final tally on the books was 32 boxes (copy paper sized)…
Hi Cheri – moving is no fun, but it sounds as if you found a nice place, so it’ll be all worth it, right? How are the kitties, are they freaking out yet or are they having too much fun with the boxes?
the 15 year old is having fun scratching on the cardboard and hiding amongst the boxes when it is time for her pills…
both girls used to play “box hockey” (moving the empty boxes from one side of the room to the other, sometimes with one of them in the box…so cute…
Those toy kittens (and puppies) give me the willies!! We have a store in town that always has one in the window and it creeps me out everytime I pass it…. I look the other way now…
The variety store in the building where I work carrys those—a co-worker came to me and said “There is one down there that I swear is a real stuffed kitten-it was made in China and you know I wouldn’t put it past them to do that!” So I went downstairs with her and looked at it–it is not real, it’s rabbit fur and it’s all out of proportion, really ugly–no one has bought it yet it looks so bad.
Hi TDKr’s – Sara is right where I would like to be today, curled up with the body language saying, “don’t bother me, I’m sleeping!”.
Hi HM – I’d love some bacon this morning. I have bagels to share…
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….bacon
Hm, save some for little Harley!
Sorry, Harley………*shares with Harley*
Now that is utter sweetness! And I love the name, it fits the picture perfect kitty to a T.
Aw! So cute! She looks very much like my calico, Sarah.
Whoooo!!!!! I can post today! I couldn’t post at all yesterday, try as I may!
Happy belated Birthday to those I missed yesterday. Kitten Whisperer and Sandi
Oh what a cute little calico, and I just love her name!!! Goodmorning all.
Good morning TDK family!!
What a precious little sleeping beauty this morning! I’ve got the Kahlua for the coffee this morning…..Baileys for Great Dane!!
*borrows some of Great Dane’s Baileys*
What?
Just some, not all. 😉
Having a bad mental health day… need all the perking up I can get.
Okay, we’ll share!
Coffee and Bailey’s!!!!! You’re great LeeAnne!!!
Kahlua? Count me in! Morning everyone. I saw the comments about yesterday’s kitty with the “boa” and just had to think of Tim Curry in Rocky Horror.
Catwoman, how are you today? Rainingwolf. feeling better?
Its just a jump to the left!
Tim Curry was amazing – even without a boa:

How Cute!!!
Can I share if I bring mimosas to the sharing circle and some of my mom’s orange cinnamon buns? Please!! PURRR
Did you say cinnamon buns, Tiger’s Mama? PLEASE join us!
Today’s stupid joke
A young reporter went to a retirement home to interview an aged but legendary explorer. The reporter asked the old man to tell him the most frightening experience he had ever had.
The old explorer said, “Once I was hunting Bengal tigers in the jungles of India. I was on a narrow path and my faithful native gun bearer was behind me. Suddenly the largest tiger I have ever seen leaped onto the path in front of us. I turned to get my weapon only to find the native had fled. The tiger lept toward me with a mighty ROARRRR! I soiled myself.”
The reporter said, “Under those circumstances anyone would have done the same.”
The old explorer said, “No, not then — just now when I went ””ROARRRR!”””
That was badd!!
**”She’s the boss!” fuZZ***
What a darling baby! What beautiful colors, so soft and sweet.
How are you, Rosie?
….I am Great…as per usual……duzza……
I my gosh, what a sweetie.
Penny, Gir, Kuja, CC and Ashe..say hi. Ashe is still upset with me for her vet trip yesterday..got all her shots and tested for kitty diseases, clean bill of health so she gets to mingle with the other kitties now.
Awwww, poor little Ashe! I’m glad she’s healthy and she’ll get over being mad at you, Chuck.
Bobby kept me awake last night, so I ended up giving up on sleep (temporarily) and taking the Bobster outside to see the lunar eclipse. Needless to say the little guy didn’t care about the moon, but loved the impromptu trip out in the middle of the night. Several night creatures were chased to within an inch of their lives!
Of course when we went back in, the Bobster wanted OUT! He would just not be quiet. Hmmmmm, it may be a while before the two of us go explore nature in the night again!
Hey Bobster..it’s not so fun outdoors you should talk to Ashe.
The vet suprised me I thought Ashe was maybe 3 mos old beacuse she is so small, but thevets said 6 – 7 mos because of the number of adult teeth, so she gets to go back in 3 weeks to be spayed and get her boosters.
Wow, Chuck! How much does Ashe weigh? She must be tiny if you were so far off in guessing her age.
I’ve given up on letting the Bobster go out without a leash, because as he got used to it, he’d take off running as soon as we got outside. Now I put the leash on him and at first he tries to get away, but soon gives up and puts up with it. We stay in the backyard, because the day we tried walking on the sidewalk, a car came, the little guy freaked, I picked him up, and he scratched the heck out of me! No more of that!
She weighed 5lbs on the dot.
My Sheba was only 5 lbs 10 oz. last visit–a real small Himi.
When I nabbed Romeo (that took awhile) he was about 6 months old and was so tiny the vet didn’t even have to stitch him when he was neutered. He weighed about 3 1/2 pounds.
You can bet he’ll remember that! Hope you didn’t start something. I’ve let Max out on the patio with me a few times, and now he constantly goes to the door and meows pathetically (poor baby!)
Yeah, I know, Max and Molly’s Mom! I’ve got some sleepless nights ahead of me! I’ll need loads of coffee during the day!
Great Dane, you are in for a lot of sleepless nights now that he’s gotten a taste of it!
What is it that terrifies cats so much about going to the vet? And then they act all upset for a whole day and make us feel guilty. It’s almost like parenting human children. 🙂
Well heck, I hate going to the doctor, so I can see why the Bob hates going to the vet!
I second that….
I’ll take the dentist over the doctor any day…..
It’s easy to understand.
You take a cat out of its environment.
You take him to a place that smells funny, sounds funny, and probably has barking dogs.
The cat is put on a cold metal table, and proceeds to have a strange person handle him all over – without even the decency of letting the cat sniff the person’s hands.
The person may or may not do uncomfortable things to the cat, such as shots or taking a rectal temperature.
If the cat’s sick in the first place, add the misery of not feeling well on top of all this.
Cats don’t get nice treats from the vet, after visiting. They also don’t usually get praised for behaving well.
If he reaches out and scratches or nips out of fear, he’s glommed onto and overpowered for any remaining procedures – a move nearly guaranteed to make him more fearful.
If he doesn’t need to stay at the vet’s, he gets put back in his crate and taken home. He may or may not get carsick along the way.
If this is a cat’s only experience with travel and veterinarians, who in their right mind would expect him to be happy about it?!?
Well said Anncetera!
Awwww, Anncetera, I may never take the Bobster back to the vet now!!!!
And why DON’T they give treats at the vet’s, that would be great! (well not for the Bob, who doesn’t like treats, but for the rest of the kitties – and pups).
They may not give cats treats at the vet’s because they often are too nervous to eat. However, if you’ve tried treats on your own cats (like Greenies), there’s nothing to keep you from taking them with you and giving your kitty a treat at the end of the visit. (Provided your vet doesn’t need your cat fasted for some reason, of course.)
Ferrule gets vice grip butt at the vet. They were barely able to take his temperature and the worm check just couldn’t happen
It may be an unusual organization but I spend a little more for veterinary care at KC Cat Clinic.
All they see are cats and rarely employ aggressive force to control a nervous kitty.
Last visit, the doctor allowed Tommy “Spot” (Spot because as a kitten he was one shade darker than the rug) to rub her arms throughout our consultation before removing him for his shots and blood draw for his senior kitty baselines.
She commented on how he was comforting himself by marking her with his cheek glands and again on how brave he was during the hurtful procedures in the lab.
I can’t say he loves trips to the vet, but they are not as traumatic as they could be.
I used to have a vet that would break out the squeezie cheese (one step up from cheez Whiz) and make a line down the table when it was time for shots or other uncomfortable procedures. Gracie would work her way down the line and not notice the shots as much. Sometimes she would take cat treats and stick them together with a dot of the cheese. She would also start of the visits with some play time with a feather to get Gracie relaxed and more comfortable. Having a vet who is a true cat person does make all the difference.
My vets also go to great lengths not to traumatize the animals they treat. One vet tech was fired after I asked her nicely not to carry Juliette by her scruff. I also explained to her that Juliette’s vet had told me that her heart rate was about 250 per minute before they actually did anything to her so being treated in a rough manner could literally cause a heart attack. It’s not as though Juliette is vicious. I didn’t trust this girl so when I heard her coming back I walked out into the hall and, sure enough, she was holding Juliette by her scruff at arms length. I pitched a fit right there in the hall in full view and/or hearing of everyone. I nearly had a heart attack myself. She got fired and now can’t hurt animals any more. That crap about their mothers carrying them like that doesn’t cut it with me. When their mothers carried them they weighed ounces not pounds.
It’s a wonderful thing to have a vet who works specifically to help cats get through the strangeness that is a vet visit! The KC Cat Clinic is a great place. I’ve been fortunate to know vets who go out of their way to make cats more comfortable during their visits. I also employ a few tricks to help my cats deal with visits. One of those tricks is, as soon as practical, letting the cat out of the carrier in the exam room, and letting the cat sniff and walk all around the room. This is done while calling the cat’s name, and petting the cat whenever he or she comes toward me. Getting out of the carrier, and oriented to the location, seems to go a long way toward establishing a minimal comfort level.
Ooh, my Vet, er ah.. Camo and Kaddie’s Vet is super cool! She does pet and give praises to all her “patients”. She lets the pets come to her then she gives them all kisses and hugs. She is really really good with her patients. She gives the dogs treats, and usually will give you treat to give to the cats since most won’t take anything from a stranger. I think I’m truly blessed to have her take care of all my furr babies (that includes the dogs, Roxie Baby and Coco Crispy!)
At my vet’s there are two different vets working on different days. They never tell you who’s working when when you’re making an appointment, which is annoying. It’s not really that I prefer one guy over the other, but I’d like to have one vet get to know him and take care of all his visits and treatments.
My babies have an awesome vet also. She’s very gentle and they’ll all go right to her. She talks the them and pets them while she’s examining. None of them like getting shots, of course, but Huddy acts like he doesn’t even feel it.
So does Bob! I have been wondering if he feels anything at all, because he doesn’t “say” anything or even flinch!
The one vet guy calls him “Kid”, that’s kind of funny!
Huddy never makes a sound or moves or anything. He just keeps on purring.
Maverick acts like you’re killing him and Sebastian wants to turn around and bite the offender!!!!
Both boys are very quiet during shot time, I don’t know why. Camo acts like he is dying in the carrier on the way to the vet!
….”she says from a cat’s point of view….”
Well, I’m glad she shows the dog who’s boss! What a lovely patchwork-quilt kitty. I hope she’s nice to the fish.
It’s always so hard to believe that kittens like Sara, when they’re sleeping, are such wild little zoomers when they’re awake!
Well, tonight Max (formerly Jellybean) goes to his new home. Yay!!!
He’s turned into a regular little talker. And this last week he’s learned a new trick; he’ll look up at me, I’ll bend over and greet him, then he’ll crouch down and leap right up to my chest! He’s learned that I’ll catch him, so he doesn’t grab hard or scramble over my shoulder. He’ll just leap up and trust that I’ll catch him, hold him up to my chest, and pet him. He rewards me with throaty purrs. Right now, his feet are HUGE – he’s going to be a big ol’ cat when he grows up.
He goes to his new home with a Cat Dancer, 3 foot scratching post covered in sisal rope, red dragon stuffed toy, jingle ball toy, collar, tags, vet records, catnip, and diatomaceous earth. He’ll also have a supply of cat litter & food, to help with transitioning to his new home. And I’m including a towel that I will have slept on for several days, to help him with his transition with a little familiar scent.
He’s going to get a lot of love tonight! I’m going to miss him terribly, but I hope I’ll get to visit him a couple times per year.
A triple Yay for Max and anncetera!
Yay for Max! Happy endings are the very best kind.
Awwww, Anncetera, Jellybean/Max sounds like such a sweetie – It must be hard to give him up! It’s great that you’re sending his things with him to help him get settled in his new home!
Speaking of toys, last week I found something Bob didn’t yet have! I got him these catnip puffs from PetsMart. There were 5 of them in a little bag for a couple of bucks. The Bobster went NUTS! I gave him two of them to play with and he was thoroughly entertained. He chased them all over, sniffed them, licked them, bunny kicked them etc. It said on the bag that when the catnip wears off, to put the little puffs back in the bag and after 24 hrs. they’ll have absorbed more catnip for the kitty to enjoy. Fun toy!
Excellent! I always store small cat toys in an airtight container with catnip, just to ‘recharge’ them.
You can store cat toys? Ferrule has some kind of dimensional gate thing worked out. All toys vanish except for the very wet sock used for making catnip tea 🙂
BTW: the sock is a pair of my son’s outgrown socks. I covered on in catnip, rolled it up and shoved it down inside the other and tied a knot. that silly cat loves it. He throws it at me regularly. He likes to keep it in the water bowl much to Emerson’s displeasure. Hence the ‘catnip tea’
I can store *some* cat toys, but only if I get them rescued before the kitties completely destroy them! And the container goes in a closed cabinet.
Max has destroyed, so far, cage-style jingle balls, one Cat Dancer, and a feather toy. Red Dragon is being eviscerated. Amelia shows that small, dainty kitties are far from helpless; her speciality is chewing through the shoelaces used on toys. She’s gotten pretty efficient at it; only takes her about 10 seconds to chew completely through.
I’m shocked! There may be another toy out there that the Bob does not (yet) have! What is a Cat Dancer?
A Cat Dancer is the one and only cat toy that we unconditionally guaranteed your cat would play with, when I managed a pet store for 3 years. We never had to refund a single one.
Click my name to see one; they’re the simplest doggone toy, a bit of wire with twisted paper bits on it. The packaging’s illustration shows how a cat plays with it (you need to hold onto one end).
AHA! I’ve seen those at PetsMart! In 35 mintes when escaping office (Yep, I’m counting!) I shall hop on the bike and go get one for the Bobster since you recommend it, Anncetera!
Bad for my economy, by the way, to have PetsMart on my way to/from work! But good for the Bob!
Please tell us if the Bobster plays with it!!
Happy endings make me cry. Max is such a lucky baby.
It is so incredibly hard to give him up! He has been the most endearing kitten since my cat Booger, to whom I was very, very attached. He will have a happy home, and I hope he soon attaches in a similar manner to Victoria, his new owner.
Congratulations! I’m sure he’ll be happy in his new home. You’ve really thought of everything to ease the transition.
*hugs* for missing him
Cool-you did a good job with him Ann.
Thank you. I think I’m going to cry after I leave him tonight. He’s carved out a niche in my heart, and that will be a bit empty. I will have more time and attention to give to Amelia and Violet, however, who haven’t found new homes.
Awwww… Anncetera,
I have tears just reading this post. 🙁 That is SO sad… I am so sorry you have to give him up, especially after being so attached. HUGS to you sweetie.
Bumblebee, it’s really the best thing for him. He will have only two other kitty companions, which means he’ll get more attention than he would by staying with me. He will have those two kitties to play with. His new owner loves him and will treat him well. This is a win-win situation, but I’d be lying if I said I won’t miss him terribly.
(If that’s the price to be paid, for him to have a happy, long life, I’m glad to pay it.)
Someday, remind me to tell you more about Booger. In my lifetime of having cats, he was my very favorite.
my last cat I got was from a “foster” home for the CNYCC. The foster mom and I hit it off great. I still send her updated pictures 3 yrs later. She cried when I took home my Freckles-but then I “knew” she was loved and well taken care off. But then again-I gave her a week to say her goodbyes-that way I had a week to explain to my current cats about their new sister.
YAY for Anncetera and Max. Good for you for sending things to help him settle in. I do that too. I know you will miss him. You have done a good thing finding Max a good home. Blessings to you.
Thank you, Kittypaw! It must be hard to be letting go of Savannah and her babies, after working so hard to give them a good start and fighting chance in life.
Yes, I will miss laying on the floor on my tummy while they play king of the mountain on my back and head. Zoom figured out he could get under my t-shirt and drives the other kittens nuts chasing around the moving lump under my shirt. My only regret is the wall is not mirrored so I can’t see all of this commotion, I can only feel their excitement.
Well, shoot, if LeeAnne in FL has ribs on the grill and Tiger’s mama has orange cinnamon buns and mimosas and everyone else is fixing breakfast food, all I need to bring is the pitcher of Godiva chocolate martinis and my James Bond film collection. Did Casino Royale come out on DVD yet?
Which James Bond??? 😛
I am not very picky on that but I’ve seen a mass fight break out when people couldn’t decide who’s the best Bond.
Best Bond in my humble opinion, is Brosnan.
Have to disagree, Chuck, I still like Sean Connery.
I dug Sean Connery, but I’m partial to Roger Moore. Anybody ever see the movie “ffolkes?”
Connery was good, I just think he has become a better actor as he got older..
and much better looking
Mmmmmmm! Sean……
LOL! You are a clever man! You just won our hearts. A cat-loving guy with a good taste and healthy self-esteem.
I loved Ffolkes. And a most appropriate tribute for saving England. Ruth, Judith and Ester.
Great villain role for Anthony Perkins.
I keep trying to find it, but to no avail. 🙁
Here is a place to start
http://www.amazon.com/Ffolkes-Roger-Moore/dp/B00009AOBJ
Sean Connery does it for me. I like older men (of course I liked the younger Sean too) of Scots, Brit, Welsh, or Irish descent…
What’s the matter with you, Miu, that you have to ask? PIERCE!!!!! of course!
I have to say, I do not understand the Pierce phenomenon. He always seemed a bit effete, not very manly, to me, especially in his feeble attempt to fill the testosterone-filled shoes of Sean Connery. I really think the throne remained empty until the advent of Daniel Craig. He, like Connery, is incredibly masculine, and much more true to the character of 007 as written in the books. The reference by “M” in “Casino Royale”, to Bond as a “blunt instrument” is much more akin to the character that was introduced in the Fleming books.
Sorry, but the Pierce thing is grossly overrated. I will now prepare for the slings and arrows of response to come hurtling my way–
Kate
I always thought Sean Connery was the best, but I agree with Chuck that I think he has become a better actor – AND has become even sexier – as he got older!
However, I also thought Pierce was very, very good – another one who has gotten sexier as he got older.
That said, I really like the latest James Bond, Daniel Craig! He is not pretty, but he has that sort of rugged appeal – sort of like Steve McQueen. Yum!
Pierce Brosnan was the sexiest Bond, Sean Connery was the smoothest Bond, WTF was up with George Lazenby as Bond? Roger Moore was so-so as Bond, and Timothy Dalton got stuck in the worst Bond movies. I haven’t yet seen Daniel Craig as Bond, but I heard he was truest to Ian Fleming’s vision of Bond.
But you’ve seenthe pic of him emerging from the see in the blue trunks, right?
‘Nuff said. Phwooaarrrrr!!!!!!
*ahem*
I meant sea…. (I think I got carried away!! 😉 )
Madcatwoman, was he still emerging from your ‘see’? 😀
Didja get all “hot and bothered” there, MCW?
All the Bonds were good but I think Connery takes the crown. (While I sneak away with the uber-sexy Timothy Dalton)
Sean, the original. I also preferred Michael Keaton as
Batman.
Michael Keaton is Batman..but the guy they got for Batman Begins, can’t remember his name was ver good.
Christian Bale.
There is only one Batman — Michael Keaton. WTF was casting thinking when George Clooney was cast as Batman in Batman and Robin? Val Kilmer was the sexiest Batman, though. Speaking of the Batman movies, why was Harvey Dent, a/k/a Harvey Two-Face, played by Billy Dee Williams in the first film, but played by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever?
Okay, now I’m confused! I never saw any of the Batman movies (!), BUT: if George Clooney played Batman, how can you say Val Kilmer (Yuck, by the way!) was the sexiest?????
I don’t get it – George Clooney – yum!!!!!!
*drooling now, at thought of George Clooney*
Vicki, maybe it was because he had 2 faces.
ROTFLMAO!
Anybody worth their weight knows the only true Batman is Adam West. Come people, recognize!! *Laughing at self*
Ugh, I think Timothy Dalton was the only Bond I didn’t like…..
Timothy Dalton was the s*****est Bond. He needed his Licence to Kill permanently revoked.
Check him out in Jane Eyre. You will melt. I promise, Vicki.
I liked the “Jane Eyre” movie that was on Masterpiece Theatre (PBS).
it did.
I’ll take a martini thank you
Hubby and I made tortellini with marinara last night. Marinara starting from garden grown tomatoes. Noodles from organic flour and organic eggs. Lots of work, but oh so worth it.
Wow, sounds absolutely WONDERFUL MM……
mmmmm sounds good, Makes me glad I brought Spaghetti with extra sauce for lunch today.
Sounds great, Meezermama. I cooked last night, too and that only happens about once a month! I made turkey chili. I decided to try to give the Bobster a little browned turkey and he LOVED it! Funny, the little guy doesn’t like many things, but since he likes deli turkey I figured maybe he’d appreciate ground turkey. I took some leftovers to work and before I left Bob was going nuts attacking the tupperware container and trying to open it! Bob’s a cutie, but there is NO way, I’d try to give the little guy chili!
Oh Great Dane,
Bob is just the most adorable little guy and I just really enjoy hearing all about him! Thanks for sharing!! Hugs to both of you!
Thanks, Bumblebee! I enjoy telling Bob stories! Every time he does something funny my first thought is that I’ve got to all all my TDK friends about it!
You really must set us up a Bob cam.
Bob would be a STAR!
Bob is already a star on TDK.
Awwwww, I’ll tell him that!
yes it is on dvd not one of my favs but a good action movie
this refers to the bond question
What, not to the Bob movie?????
that would be a great action movie
Would be action/biography/comedy/drama movie!
Is little Sara sleeping innocently as we believe? Or do I detect one eye
parially opened and watching and waiting?
Sara… A beautiful name for a beautiful kitten. She has a prettiest face and a delightfully pink little nose. The weather has turned cold and damp here, we have a fall/autumn already. I need a cozy fireplace and a big soft recliner where I can cuddle with Sara.
Where the heck are you Miu? We are having a “break” in the heat wave here. That means it will only be in the upper 90’s this week instead of triple digits as it has been for about 3 weeks. Can I come stay with you until the end of September? Maybe by then it will only be in the 80’s here in Memphis.
Miu is in Finland, KittyPaw.
Oh darn. That’s an awful long way 🙂
Upper 90’s!!! Hey girl, you are welcome! PS. Don’t forget your wool underwear. 😛
Thanks Miu. I’ve never had a pair of wool underwear 🙂
My mom said I was to be named Sara with an ‘h’. I love that name.
Cutie Patootie kitten… many huggs and purrs ……..
*I have amaretto and rice pudding w/raisins, can I come too?*
amaretto and rice pudding w/raisins! I’ll take a big bowl!! Yumm!
Wow, that sounds good.
Hi everybody! I’ve missed you terribly. I haven’t even had time to lurk. Things have been a little out of control to say the least and I’m about to take a 3rd part time job. I’ll never get caught up on what’s been going on with my TDK family. Let me know if there is anyone I should be praying for. What a beautiful kitten we have today. She looks like she is sleeping with one eye partially open so she doesn’t miss anything 🙂 We trapped another female feral on the lot last week. When they spayed her she was pregnant (not very, thank goodness). I hate to think of kittens lost but growing up on that lot is very difficult. The one who had the kitten with the infected eyes is showing up with only one kitten now. I don’t want to think about what happened to the others. The one we trapped was only about 7 months old herself. There’s a Tortie we haven’t caught yet. You know that has to be a female and if one female is pregnant any other unspayed ones probably are as well. She, also, is very young. We are setting traps tonight and tomorrow. APA only spay/neuters on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Keep your fingers crossed. Karin, I hope your interview went well. Rubia, those toy breathing kittens give me the creeps 🙂 I was glad to see NFL’s stand on the Micheal Vick although I wish they had fired him outright. The only good to come of all this is it got international attention. I’ve been seeing articles from all over the world on MSN. New laws are being made, old ones are being acted upon, people are paying attention. Go NIKE for canceling that contract. Michael apparently found Jesus on the way to his hearing and, you know, I hope he really did. It could happen and he could do a lot of good if he has really had a change of heart. My positive attitude is battling with my natural cynicism. See y’all later 🙂
I want to thank you for all the work you’ve done for ferals. Try to find a little time for yourself too! Three jobs – that will soon wear you down. 🙁 I hope you’ll find an other kind of solution to deal with your finances.
I hope I do to Miu. I am whupped (Southern for “whipped” or exhausted :)). Savannah and her kittens (Pat, Zoom, Bobbi Bear, Misty and Curly) will be going to House of Mews soon and I will not be fostering anymore for awhile. I changed the kittens names when they got old enough for their personalities to show. I have to focus on the ferals. The more we trap the smarter the others get. My goal is to have no more kittens born on the lot. One of our managers agreed to get in the “dunking tank” and employees could take a shot at dunking him for 5.00. One of our drivers gave us 20.00 and challenged the other drivers to match. so Trayce and I ended up with 130.00 which will spay/neuter, test and vaccinate 3 more ferals. I do love my main job and the people I work with.
Kittypaw, you’re doing marvelous work! You’re preventing a tremendous amount of suffering; that’s a kind of calling to a higher purpose in life. Fundraising for the ferals will certainly help defray the costs that you’re personally assuming. I’m so glad to hear that Savannah and her kittens are going to be adopted out from House of Mews! All she needed was a decent break; I’m glad to hear she’s so much healthier than when she started her pregnancy.
Hang in there. As far as trapping goes, is it an option to leave a trap out every day, that food goes in daily, but the trap is locked open to prevent tripping? That’s the best way to accustom a cat; they go into a trap for food, eat, and have nothing bad or unusual happen for days or weeks at a time.
I’ll try that Anncetera. It would be easier if they were located somewhere else. I can only gain entrance to the lot Mon-Fri 7:00 to 5:30. That means the traps are set at 5:30pm and checked the next morning at 7:00am. I can’t hang around and try to at least muster up a little of their trust like I could if they were on my own property. Even if I could hang around the lot it is too dangerous. This is an industrial area in the middle of a residential area of town that turns into gangland at night. On the weekends this industrial area is pretty much deserted. A friend of mine told me her police friend told her if she had to be in this part of town after dusk not to stop at redlights. Just slow down and if nothing is coming keep going. Actually people get robbed and carjacked here during the day too. Our beautiful city was 3rd on the FBI’s list on violent crimes committed. Thanks to 16 years of “service” from our “esteemed” King Mayor Willie Herenton. It’s beyond me why people keep voting him in. I guess all the gang members and drug dealers registered to vote. Excuse me while I put away my soapbox. It’s almost time for another election for mayor.
I know the kind of neighborhood you’re talking about; drove through such neighborhoods when I lived in Chicago.
Is there somewhere on the empty lot a bit further back from the edge, where the cat trap/s can be set up out of sight of most potential troublemakers? I’d be terribly nervous to set traps at 5:30 pm and check them again at 7:00 am, mostly because of jerks who might harm the cats while they’re trapped. But leaving the traps for several days, rigged to stay open, and then setting them, would probably help habituate the more leery ferals to their presence.
Also, do you have covers (fabric or tarp) created for these traps? Just curious…
Well, luckily the lot is fenced in, locked and electrified. There are also security “beams” criss crossing the lot. We have a lot of cars, wreckers, expensive equipment, etc out there. So it makes it safer for the cats too. I do have covers for the traps. I set them with covers sometimes and without sometimes. We have trapped 3 with a cover and 1 without. Betty (at Tom’s Town) pointed out that cats basically see straight ahead. If a trap is covered it’s obvious they are going into a “tunnel” and some just won’t do it. An open trap gives those cats more of a sense of “openess?”. The very next time I set traps after we had that conversation we got one in an uncovered trap. Ya never know. I’ll try anything. If we don’t get any tonight or tomorrow I will set the traps locked open until next time APA is open.
Sometimes what works well is to have the trap covered only across the length of it; keeping both ends open, so the cat can see right through it. That way, they don’t seem to think they’re being trapped, but have an escape route. (They don’t, but they usually don’t figure that out until after the trap is closed.)
As long as the traps are not visible from the street or sidewalk, the cats have a much higher margin of safety from potential malice. And that’s a good thing!
You might be surprised at how quickly some of the cats will become habituated to traps being around. Good luck!! And bless you for the work you do.
Hey Kittypaw,
That is great news about the money for the ferals! What a blessing! 🙂 That helps when you love the people you work with and the job. I love the people I work with as well and the job.
We are very blessed Bumblebee 🙂
Was wondering where you’d been, Kittypaw! I’m glad you had a little time to come visit with us. You are doing a wonderful job with the kitties on the lot!
I saw the interview with Vick last night and I didn’t believe a word that bastard said! Sorry to say it, but I don’t think people who can do things like he did to animals can change just like that. What made him realize all of a sudden that what he did was so terrible? The threat of a prison sentense? The loss of a high-paying career? A good publicist?
Grrr!
It was the publicist..trying to get in a little image repair before the jail time.
I know you are most likely right but I think if one of Charles Manson’s people could change maybe Michael could? Don’t get me wrong. I have no pity for him at all and I wish that his punishment was more appropriate to his crimes. Like throwing him in a pit with those poor dogs he abused. But I am trying to hang on to a shred of hope that he could change and do some good when he gets out of what I hope will be a very long jail term.
I hope in addition to jail that he is sentenced to counseling and truly does have a life change. Anyone who kills animals in the way he did is SICK and need intensive psychiatric help
This is just my opinion, but I indeed think Michael Vick is sorry.
Sorry for getting caught, that is.
Yep!
Uh-uh, don’t scare us cat-loving Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Earth-religionists and such like that.
WHILE I BELIEVE VICK SHOULD BE PUNISHED IT SHOULD BE IN LINE WITH THE OTHERS INVOLED IN THIS OR ANY OTHER PERSON IN THE COUNTRY IT IS NOT HIS FAULT HE WAS PLACE ON A PETASTAL HIS FANS DID THAT
Agreed, provided that it’s recognized that he bankrolled the operation. He doesn’t deserve anything harsher than anyone else who committed such crimes, and who’s in a position to gamble on professional (legal) sports.
And who lied about it.
Hi GOYS. I agree that Michael should be punished for what he has done and be punished the same way as anyone else. His money and fame have no place in this. However, being put on a pedastal did not make him do the things he did. The acts he performed and condoned were vicious and brutal and those kinds of things come from within us. He did not get that way because his fans loved him. I agree with ppearson (see above) that he should receive intense therapy in addition to his punishment with the hope that would help him overcome the part of him that caused him to think the things he was involved in were O.K.
Go KittyPaw!
Just got some WEIRD information about my mom. She’s been doing really well on chemo, but the doctor wants to put her on maintenence. If she goes on maintenence, her survival rate drops to 10-12 MONTHS. If she stays on chemo, it’s possible that the cancer will go into remission. She is having NO side effects (other than losing her hair) so I don’t understand why he wants to stop the chemo. I told my parents that I’d get a second opinion. Mom said she would when she got back from up north on the 11th. Please pray for her and the rest of our family. Love to all and thanks Terri
Terri,
You have my prayers! And a big ((HUG)) I know only too well what your going through! Get the 2nd opinion, It will make your mind at ease!
Peace
Dorie
Awww, sorry about your mom, Tiger’s mom! I agree with Dorie about getting the second opinion – the more information you can get, the better!
I’m thinking of you and your mom – hope she gets better soon!
BTW Bogman’s new mama says hello and he is doing Great!!! He has settled in fine and has even developed some new talents. I’m not sure I want to know what they are!!! haha lol
Tiger’s Mama,
Wow, such a blessing….. I am so happy to hear that. Awwwww…..
Awww, Go Bogman!!!! …..and I for one would like to hear about his new “talents”!
Good for Bogman! I also want to hear about his new talents. Find out and tell all 🙂
I want to know too
What kind of chemo is she getting, Terri? Sometimes the chemo impacts other parts of the body. It can be harsh even if there are no outward symptoms. Did her doctor give a reason for wanting to change? The more imformation you have the more power you have. Lots of white light to your mom. I know you want to keep her as long as possible.
Oh Tiger’s mama, I’m so sorry. I would definitely get a second opinion. I’ll be praying for your mom and her doctors.
I am no doctor but I know chemotherapy increases (at least) the risk of sepsis and myelosuppression (sp?) which makes her an easy/easier target of all kind of infections. Ask the doctor what makes her/him think chemo shouldn’t be used any more.
I pray for you and your Mom.
Love and hugs to you. That’s downright weird, what the doctor said. Definitely go for the second opinion and ask the first one exactly why he wants her to go into maintenance. A lot of doctors still simply announce their opinion rather than explaining it.
*hugs* to you and prayers for your family.
She must get a second opinion–or they need to give a reason why. Of course, we are praying.
You mean to tell us that if your mom drops her chemo, she could be in Heaven by next year and the doctor is suggesting this?! I’m lost: I thought doctors existed to save and extend life. If I were you I’d ask your mom to find a different oncologist, because that makes absolutely zero sense to me.
What a sweet baby Sara is!! Smooches on her little head.
I had a calico once, named Patches, and she was so sweet and innocent, until you got her mad and then, boy, could she swear up a storm! My dad would often threaten to take her into the bathroom to wash her mouth out with soap! What a little character she was!
How, pray tell, did Patches “swear up a storm”?????
Awww, Sarah is a real cutie. No wonder she is loved.
Do all calicos have such colorful personalities? I’ve never had a calico, but kitties like Sara make me wish I’m adopted by a calico some day (with all due respect to my three wonderful, colorful cats).
I am currently owned by a Calico so I can only go by Gracie. She is Miss personality and has the most facial expressions of any cat I have owned. She is opinionated and stubborn at times and sweet as sugar other times. when company comes we never know if she is going to hiss or want to wallow on them. Life is never dull with a calico.
That describes my Calli perfectly.
She does have a “catitude”.
Sara is beautiful. Looks so sweet sleeping!
I’ve long heard about calicos having feisty personalities. I grew up with a huge, beautiful calico cat that was as mean as a snake and, ironically enough, my mother named her Precious. Lucky for Precious, I love snotty cats.
We had one. She wasn’t right in the head. She liked to pee in hubby’s shoes. And sometimes on hubby himself.
LOL!
Sara Smiles FUZZ
Sweet dreams are made of FUZZ
Way to cute.
The little female cat I have here, Spaz…. is a loving girl. She went in and laid on my bed in Oliver’s spot, and wouldn’t let any other cat on the bed with her growling and hissing. It was funny. Of course Perry is having a fit she is here. He hisses and swats at her. The other cats are fine with her. She has been behind my dryer, scratched the chair, and sharpened her claws on the rug in several places. The chair is used by all the cats. She just made herself right at home! Oh, she also comes when you call her. I’ve been giving her lots of attention as well.
Kisses to Spaz – and to the other kits too!
Good Morning Lynn, my Pa, buddy!!
I saw your post last night. Thanks for thinking of me. Sorry I missed you.
HUGS
My calico, Patches, is a little spitfire from the time she was a tiny kitten. Love the markings on Sara, what a beauty!

**Animal Rights Activists Bark at Foxx Over Dogfigthing Comments**
Animal rights activists have lashed out at Oscar winner Jamie Foxx after he spoke out in defense of dog fighting ring leader Michael Vick on TV. The American football star has admitted to funding a dogfighting operation as part of a plea agreement to lighten a possible prison sentence. The disgraced Atlanta Falcons quarterback has also revealed that “collective efforts” by him and two others caused the deaths of at least six dogs. News of Vick’s plea agreement, which he will officially file in a Virginia court on Monday came a day after Miami Vice star Foxx’s ill-advised comments about the controversy. The actor told U.S. TV news show Access Hollywood, “It’s a cultural thing… I used to see dogs fighting in the neighborhood all the time… Mike probably just didn’t read his handbook on what not to do as a black star. I know that cruelty to animals is bad, but sometimes people shoot people and kill people and don’t get time… I give Mike the benefit of the doubt.” Foxx’s comments have enraged People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals president Ingrid Newkirk, who has blasted the actor for attempting to justify Vick’s sordid secret life. She fumes, “It is cheap and dirty and wrong to call this a cultural thing, unless Foxx believes that cruelty is a black thing – when it isn’t. It may be his thing, but it is not a black thing.” Vick, who was bombarded by animal right protestors when he arrived in court on Friday, faces 12 to 18 months in prison for his part in the illegal dogfighting ring.
Grrrrrrr!
Geez, can they just drop the “race card”? I am so sick of everything being about race and believe me, in the south it is always about race. People like Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton, not to mention Memphis’ own mayor Willie Herenton make sure of it. Evil people are evil people no matter their color. Jamie Foxx just insulted all African Americans. I’m sure there are many many African Americans that do not want to be “culturally” lumped in with the likes of people like Michael Vick and others of his ilk.
Well if he had any sense he’d just shut up. Black people didn’t invent dogfighting.
The south has a history of racisim and that’s why people make it about race. It hasn’t been that long ago that itmes were really different.
I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s just something that happens.
I know when people slight me or aren’t very nice to me I often wonder whether racism is involved. Do I live my life that way thinking that people hate me because I’m not white? No of course not….still, you wonder from time to time. You can’t help it, and if you’re not a minority, you’ll never understand it.
I’m not being unfluffy, I’m just trying to explain something that most people find inexplicable.
Now, why people listen to Jackson and Sharpton is beyond me. But I can say truly that I represent myself and I don’t need the NAACP, LULAC or anybody else to speak for me. I can do it myself.
You are right Huddy’s mom. I cannot imagine what it is like to be any other than white. I was brought up in a household where there was not hatred for other races but there was a clear message that we were better than people who were not white. A teacher named Mrs Foley in the fourth grade disabused me and other classmates of that notion. I am forever grateful to her when I think of the friendships I would have missed if I had continued on that path of arrogance. I long for the day when we can all just be people even though I know I am being very idealistic.
Thanks for understanding so much what I was trying to say. Sometimes things don’t come out right – but you got it.
*hugs to Kittypaw*
And Mrs. Foley must have been some teacher. Good for her and lucky for you to have someone in your life.
You sound like you have a very good head on your shoulders.
I too, would love it if we could all just be people. But like you said, that’s being idealistic. Still it’s ok to hope.
As a Christian and a black woman, I choose to be black on my own terms: I treat pepole the way I want to be treated (most of the time, but I do slip occasionally; I’m still human), I try to keep my brain active, I don’t sweat the fools who try to ‘teach’ me how to be ‘black’, especially other blacks who have chosen a misguided lifepath, the small group of friends I have are of all races except maybe Asian (I haven’t been around many Asians in my life, although nearly 2/3 of the world population is Asian), I try to talk to God as much as I have the courage to do so, I’m developing my own tastes and interests in different things, — oh, wait, that’s what everyone is supposed to do. My mother, the color of deep chocolate, taught me to hate other races than black. That went over real well when I had to go to school where most of the teachers were white. 😛 She never figured out why I got in trouble with my teachers in school. I don’t speak to her any more because she thinks I’ve committed an unforgivable sin: I have a preference for white men. One would think I told her I f**k horses, but that is SO not the case. I can’t help it: other men are not bad people, but I like vanilla-colored men. My point is, to lump me with other blacks is unconscionable, not to mention erroneous; if the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (with his played-out, James Brown-looking hairdo) choose to lump me in with Michael Vick, I don’t give a s**t, because I know deep in my heart my mission, as is the mission of every Christian on this planet, is to spread the word of Christ and to care for God’s Earth and all of His creatures.
I think you are admirable, honest, and just plain good.
My family is so mixed it’s almost impossible to date outside your own race. Note I said almost:
Of course I was the first one to do truly so – the man friend is Jewish by birth – lol.
I have family members who were praying for the day me daughter “brought home” a boy who wasn’t white. I say wasn’t white because those family members don’t like hispanics, asians, etc either. Well, “it” happened and the young man (who was black) got the same scrutiny any other young man would get from me. He passed muster and she was allowed to date him. The same happened with another young man who was 1/2 Spanish and 1/2 Italian and the one whose family didn’t have much money and this young man was going to be the first one in his family to graduate high school. I taught my daughter that it doesn’t matter what color someone is, how much money they have, if they are attractive or plain, if they have a handicap, what their religious beliefs are as long as the person is a decent, kind, law abiding person who treats her with respect. I have to admit I warned her that there would be people who would give her a bad time for having friends that were poor, or a different faith or color and those judgemental people were the ones she wanted to avoid.
Vicki, I have a gentleman friend who has similar tastes. He’s black, but seems to prefer the company of white women. (It’s a well known preference, apparent to himself as well as his friends.) If we lived closer than 5 hours away from one another, we might very well have had a long-term relationship. As it is, I count myself lucky and blessed to know him and enjoy his friendship.
In my opinion, color or race is one of the least important things about a person, along with other external attributes. It’s one’s mind, heart, and actions that matter most of all.
If more people believed this, and behaved accordingly, racism would soon lack any power in the heart of mankind.
Ask him to bring an overnight bag, complete with wine, roses, Calgon, satin sheets, and his toothbrush. 😉
Satin sheets ! I have satin sheets on at the bed at the moment because they are so warm to sleep in. My cat Shadow had snuck into the bed during the night seeking a warm spot to dream of mice. Upon waking in the morning she stretched and promptly slid out of bed with a thud. I peered over the edge of the bed carefully and received a very accusatory look. Cats and satin sheets don’t mix well. She didn’t like me laughing either.
Well said Vicki 🙂
You are today where the thoughts of yesterday have brought you and you will be tomorrow where the thoughts of today take you.

Such a pretty little girl. I miss kitties so much …these are my only ones for awhile. My forever cat escaped after tearing the screen away from my casement window never to return despite being microchipped and spayed. I took in a oh so precious 4 week old tabby for fostering that I got way too attached to..but reluctantly returned him when the time was ready..only to be notified later that he had ringworm and they had put him down. I have been mourning ever since…plus I was informed due to the ringworm the fungus would be in my carpeting for a year..and was advised not to get another cat until after that. I wanted to submit “Otis” photo in memory, but only have prints. Just wanted to chime into my favorite kitty site. (I have probs with kittenwars…hard to say any kitten is not ever so cute.)
A professional should be able to remove the fungus from your carpet. I never heard of ringworm being a reason to put a cat down. Anyone else know of this?
I’ve never heard of that..there is medication available to treat it.
They put him down for ringworm? That’s crazy! Ringworm is not that big of a deal especially if it is caught early. They just need medication and baths/dips. We have rescued some at Tom’s Town that had lost ALL of their fur to ringworm when we got them and they healed just fine. It took some work it took awhile for their fur to grow back but we didn’t kill them! I think they are being a little dramatic about the year long wait but just to be safe I would call a reputable carpet cleaner and have the carpets properly cleaned. Better safe than sorry.
They do it frequently in shelters, even low kill, so it does not spread. 🙁 It is treatable but is also highly contagious.
Thank you..I was feeling guilty having returned him the AHS, a co-worker also told me she had treated her cat to the tune of over a thousand dollars and still had to put him down because he was just getting sicker and sicker. I know my little guy was asymtomatic, but I also know now he had it because I do too. He was just the sweetest baby. If they had given me the opportunity, I may have taken him back and tried to treat him.
My Cinders had ringworm last year, and we had to quarentine her alone in a bedroom, for 6 months, while we treated it. Then we had to clean that room with a bleach solution, and it was an awful chore. Cinders was so lonely, I hated leaving her, but now she’s okay, the others don’t have it, and it’s in the past. The treatments were almost useless at first, but we kept bathing her with the special shampoo, leaving it on 15 minutes (the hardest part), and wishing we didn’t have to do it to her. My vet told me there was a faster treatment, but the FDA took it off the market. Long story short, shelters won’t generally treat it due to the need to keep the cat away from any other cats, and we were told, that meant closing air vents, and using a hepa filter also. It’s not a good thing, but somewhat understandable, under the circumstances.
How do kitties get ringworm? It sounds awful, is there anything you can do to prevent it?
It’s not really a worm. It’s round patches of red scaly skin. I believe a looong time ago people thought the round ring it can cause on the skin was a worm living under the skin. It’s also contagious but not as much as most people think. I have cared for, picked up and snuggled cats and kittens with ringworm many times. I have had it twice. Once was a patch on my wrist and once was a patch on my shoulder. When i say patch, I mean the size of a quarter. I went to the doctor who gave me some cream. I used the cream twice a day for 10 days and voila! it was gone. For vanity reasons (not that I’m that gorgeous or anything) I do not snuggle them up to my face or head. Cats and kittens that have ringworm do need to be isolated from other cats. Sometimes by the time you notice the hairless patch it has spread. That means you have to then watch all of the other cats in your care very closely. But with treatment the outcome is fine.
Oh yeah. To prevent it, keep your cats inside and immediately isolate any cat you think might have it and get that cat to the vet ASAP.
Great Dane: It’s a nematode.

Kittypaw – of course you’re gorgeous!
And thanks for the explanation!
Please join the ASPCA in sending a message of support to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Inspector General, USDA, letting them know that their efforts are not going unnoticed.

On this day in 1907, Harry Houdini made headlines when he escaped from multiple locks and chains while underwater. It took him 57 seconds. In the years that followed, Houdini amazed his audiences with ever more confounding escapes. He was a self-educated Hungarian immigrant who rose to worldwide fame, and he had a very simple explanation for his success. “My mind,” Houdini said, “is the key that sets me free.”
He grew up in Appleton Wisconson. They have an interesting museum and the top floor is dedicated to Harry Houdini. If I remember correctly the home he grew up in burned down. Couple of interesting old homes you can tour in Appleton too. The best one is the Hearthstone Historic House. It was the first home in the world to be powered by hydroelectricity. He owned a paper mill and ran wires from the powerplant at the factory to his home. Hard to believe now since we take lights for granted but the whole town turned out to see the lights the first night.
Very interesting!
Here is a very inspirational and uplifting article about Bob Love, ex-NBA All-Star. Happy tears (even if you are not a basketball fan).

What a man! Thanks for sharing, Dee.
Why doesn’t the mainstream media splash this sort of story eveywhere instead of the stories that have people saying “all athletes are thugs.”
*shakes head*
There’s a lot of decent athletes out there who aren’t going around slashing people’s throats, dog fighting, doing drugs, driving drunk.
Why O why don’t we ever hear ANYthing about them?
It’s sad.
I agree it is sad. But why does the “News” only carry the car wrecks, the earthquakes, etc. There are good people in the world that do good thngs. All networks should set aside time for “Good News”.
Very sweet pics!

Now that called for a really big “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww”, Dee. Wouldn’t you like to have one of those to snuggle with?
Too Cute! I want one!!!
Good morning all! Just in time to say have a good day to everyone, and that today’s kitten is so sweet-love calicoes! Brought some coffee(very strong!) for Great Dane, some bacon for H’s Mama, and great stacks of prayers for Karin and a successful outcome for her interview! If I’ve forgotten anyone, apologies!
Thanks, Rainingwolf – hope all’s well!
There’s always room for bacon.
*hugs to Rainingwolf*
Hope you are doing ok.
Good Morning dear Rainingwolf! How are you feeling today? Hugs to you.
A bit better, thanks for asking. Had dinner with my mom and my 2 sons last night-that gives me a pump up like nothing else!
And now I’m heading off to bed, The only thing I dont like about Hubby’s wing shift is needing to go to bed at 8-9 am! Seems like the day is so much shorter. Night all!
Nighty Night Rainingwolf. I’m glad you are feeling better.
There are two reasons why people fail. One is irresponsibility. The second is fear.

Goodnight Rainingwolf,
That is so nice you got to have dinner with your mom and two sons! Glad you are felling better too! HUGS
Funny!
I WAS in the express lane at the store quietly fuming. Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the checkout line pushing a cart piled high with groceries. Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward, looked into the cart and asked sweetly, “So which six items would you like to buy?”

Oh, if they would all do that 🙂

**Lifeline Helps Woman During Robbery Attempt**
Police Say Suspect Tried To Grab Deputy’s Gun At Arraignment
POSTED: 5:52 am PDT August 28, 2007
UPDATED: 8:53 am PDT August 28, 2007
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — A man who is accused of trying to rob a 90-year-old woman also tried to grab a deputy’s gun before his arraignment, police said.
John Leonard, 36, of White River Junction, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges that he tried to rob a 90-year-old woman Sunday morning, reported WPTZ-TV in Plattsburgh.
Police said Leonard broke into Layla Onsruth’s house early Sunday morning and demanded her car keys. Onsruth said she hit Leonard with her cane and activated her Lifeline device.
Police said they were able to respond within two minutes thanks to the Lifeline service.
Deputies said Leonard was in a holding cell awaiting arraignment Monday morning when he lunged for one of their guns.
All deputies and officers ran out of the courtroom to help the deputy who was responsible for watching Leonard, the television station reported.
The Hartford police chief said Leonard was not able to take control of the firearm.
Police said Leonard will be charged in connection with the attempted robbery and attempting to disarm a police officer.
**Antibacterial Soap No Better, Study Says**
Researchers Worry About Resistant Bacteria
POSTED: 8:33 am PDT August 28, 2007
Antibacterial soaps sold with messages about protecting you from disease doesn’t kill any more bacteria than regular soaps, researchers say in a new study.
Researchers from the University of Michigan reviewed 27 previous studies from the past 26 years. They found that soaps with triclosan — the commonly used biocide — were no more effective at preventing illness or at reducing bacteria levels on hands.
They said that there was also evidence that some studies showed that different species of bacteria have also been shown to develop resistance to triclosan, which could make them harder to kill later.
Sara is adorable!
My little calico, Maggie, is eleven years old and the love of my life — but she sure does have cattitude! She runs the world, and heaven help any of the other cats who don’t remember that. But when there’s some good Irish music on the radio, she comes to me and asks to be picked up for a dance, and she’s as sweet as can be. I adored her from the moment I first saw her, as a tiny feral kitten, sitting atop the garbage dumpster at our old house. She was the first of the too many cats I offerend for adoption but then couldn’t part with. (Fortunately, I’ve also sent along many others to new homes.)
Folks, I now need help with some of those kitties. We now have NINE kitties in the house, and we are being forced to move — fast. I need desperately to find new homes for some of the yearlings I’ve called “The Lost Boys”. You can see one of them by clicking on my name, above. The two youngest kittens, including former Daily Kitten “Allie”, are due to be adopted by TDKer Jadete in TN, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. (You can see them here: http://www.catster.com/cats/615205 )
But I have a vengeful landlord, and no hope of finding another house where I can have this many friends in residence. Please write me offlist at mediacenter(at)ix.netcom.com if you might be interested/able to adopt one or more. They are incredibly sweet kitties, who have had round the clock love since they came indoors (I work at home). They are all neutered males, just about one year old. There’s a CocoPuff (pictured at Catster), Eddie (a small charcoal tabby who loves to kiss), and Charlie, the mellowest orange tabby on the planet. This is breaking my heart, and I’m busy beyond belief, so please only wite if you’re a serious candidate for taking a kitty. I’m in east TN, but can deliver within a reasonable radius if it means my friends are going to be safe and happy.
I’m going to have to walk away from another ten feral cats that have come to depend on me for kibble and water — including six small kittens — but there’s only so much I can do and still get out of this house with my own kitties and stuff. Please help me help the few who are already tamed and loved.
I won’t be around to read more comments here today, but will check in again later. Thanks for whatever you can do.
Prayers for success in what you are trying to do–God Bless!
I want Cocopuff…….and really i will take all that do not find homes…….honestly I have 24, but Emma just went to the rainbow bridge…………….I work at home, and everyone is well fed and well cared for………….are your cats used to lots of cats …… I hope you concider me, there is alot of pets here but no one lacks for love attention and care.

I’ll be praying for the best outcome for you and the kitties, Angela.
Oh Angela, I will pray for a good outcome from the rotten situation. Some people just suck!

**Miss Teen South Carolina Makes Her Mark With Flubbed Response To Geography Question**
POSTED: 10:33 am PDT August 28, 2007
UPDATED: 10:48 am PDT August 28, 2007
COLUMBIA, S.C. — This time, the question was a little easier for Miss Teen South Carolina.
After being stumped by a Miss Teen USA pageant question on live television Friday night, Lauren Caitlin Upton’s confused, mangled response has been drawing a lot of attention.
The 18-year-old got a chance to redeem herself Tuesday on NBC’s “Today” show when she was again asked why one-fifth of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on a map.
“I would love to re-answer that question,” Upton said. “Well personally, my friends and I, we know exactly where the United States is on our map. I don’t know anyone else who doesn’t. And if the statistics are correct, I believe there should be more emphasis on geography.”
That was much better than her previous response, which included “U.S. Americans” and mentions of South Africa and “the Iraq.”
A YouTube video of Upton has drawn a couple million hits and thousands of comments, many of them with harsh remarks for the Lexington High School graduate who plans to attend Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.
Upton was taking her flubbed answer — and the attention — in stride.
“Everything did come at me at once. I was overwhelmed and I made a mistake. Everybody makes a mistake. I’m human,” she said Tuesday. “I seriously think I only heard about one or two words of the actual question.”
Upton’s former principal Creig Tyler remembered her as a well-rounded student.
“She took college-prep and honors courses and performed well,” Tyler told The (Columbia) State newspaper.
Miss Teen Colorado Hilary Carol Cruz won the crown. Upton was third runner-up.
Cool!

**Hulk Hogan’s Son Caught Speeding Three Times Before Crash**
Nick was driving at high speed in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday when he lost control and struck a palm tree.
Tuesday, August 28, 2007
Wrestler Hulk Hogan’s 17-year-old son Nick had been caught speeding three times before Sunday’s horrific car accident that left him and his friend hospitalized.
Since September 2006, Nick Bollea has been busted three times for unlawful speeding for traveling at 115mph in a 70 mile zone; 57mph in a 30 mile zone; and 106mph in a 70 mile zone, reports TMZ.com.
According to police, the wrestling superstar’s son was driving a Toyota Supra at high speed in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday when he lost control and struck a palm tree. Bollea and his friend John Graziano were flown by Medivac helicopters to a hospital in St. Petersburg.
Bollea has since been discharged after being treated for minor injuries, but Graziano remains in a critical condition.
Idiot!
The boy grew up in Florida; how the hell did he let a palm tree beat up his car?

**Six of the Most Expensive and Extravagant Spa Treatments in the World**
http://inventorspot.com/articles/6_spa_treatments_6141
For people with more money than common sense!
Here are my “Six slightly less upscale spa treatments”:
1. Wrap your face in aluminum foil, preferably the sheets used to wrap the gyros one gets at 3 a.m. after a night of painting the town red,
2. Get a massage with cubic zirconias,
3. A malt-liquor bath,
4. An Arbor Mist bath (if you’d rather bathe in ‘wine’),
5. Get a salmon-roe facial, and/or
6. Get a button mushroom pedicure.
Anyone silly enough to throw their money away like that instead of investing in their future, their heirs’ future, and the health of the Earth deserves to, I mean, is welcome to enter my ‘spa’. 😆
Thank you SO MUCH for the pic of Sara – we have our own gorgeous calico cat called Button, but we never knew her as a little kitten – think this is about as close as we’ll get, they’re very alike!!

**Wayward emu corralled in parking lot**
Tue Aug 28, 12:09 AM ET
WEST BEND, Wis. – Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers: The emu in the parking lot is not for sale.
Employees of a Wal-Mart Supercenter used shopping carts to corral a wayward emu outside the store Monday about 6 a.m., West Bend police said.
A manager fed the emu grapes and apples in an attempt to calm the bird inside the makeshift enclosure.
Richard Takacs, the owner of 3-year-old Myron, speculated the bird had been chased from his nearby farm by a coyote.
Emus can’t fly, but Takacs said he wasn’t surprised when police contacted him from the store, about two miles north of his Meadowbrook Market and Pumpkin Farm.
“They can run 40 miles an hour, so that was just a quick sprint for Myron,” Takacs said.
Two other emus from the farm also bolted from their pen but were found unharmed in a nearby pumpkin field.
Takacs retrieved the apparently frightened Myron from the 24-hour Wal-Mart and placed the bird by itself in a pasture so it could feel safe and relax.
Emus can grow up to six feet tall and weigh as much as 100 pounds.
West Bend is in southeastern Wisconsin, about 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
Sara is to die for, love the calicos, they are the bestest. of course, every day TDK only has the cutest kittens. I guess that means all of them! Does Darwin mention cuteness anywhere as an evolutionary strategem?
As a survival mechanism for babies, I would say that would be #1 on the evolutionary must list. Not sure if it ocurred to Darwin though.
It’s nearly dinner time where I am, and I’ve slaved over a hot cyberstove to fix dinner. There’s meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, buttered corn, peas, carrots, broccoli, spinach, greens, yellow squash, baked sweet potatoes, whole-wheat dinner rolls, iced tea, blue Kool-Aid, and blackberry martinis. Who wants eats?
I’ll do anything if I don’t have to cook! count me in, I’ll help you wash up
Drool! I’ll take a plate with everything but the greens (too bitter) and iced tea to drink. Vicki, you could come to my house and cook any time! I’ll even do the dishes.
Well, Vicki, I’d love to take you up on everything with the exception of th blue Kool-aid. Blue Kool-aid?
Relax; it’s Ice Blue Lemonade Kool-Aid, a (supposed) berry-lemon-flavored elixir.
I will never drink koolaid again after what I saw it do to dirty sheeps wool. Take dirty wool( just off the sheep.dirt shavings and all) and packet of kool-aid put into gallon milk jug(top cut off) Fill with water. leave soaking for 24 hours. the wool is clean no dirt shaving and is dyed the color of the Kool-aid Permanently!!
Once I saw that no more Kool-aid I wonder what my insides look like!!!
Dorie
I made Beef stroganoff……a crisp green salad with cucumbers, tomatos, avacados….and blueberry muffins
DIG IN 🙂
Sara in repose?
I could have sworn I had spelled everything right in that response–darn finger gremlins again!
Hi TDKers….I’ve just browsed thru the over 300 comments…gotta get on earlier in the day! Sara is so sweet. Reminds me of that old song, Sarah Smile.”
I’m very excited because I uploaded a photo of my darling Wolfie to TDK today, and he is in line in the queue!
awww sweet Sara is a very beautiful calico girl living a very busy life it sounds… 🙂
She is adorable and I love calico’s. I have 5 here in my brood and if #6 should happen it will be a calico for sure.
sara is cute i wish i hade a kitten like her
Hi TDKers, KM, Alex, and lurkers
I’m so happy for you anncetera about Max nee Jellybean has found a good home. I know you will miss him.
And Kittypaw, you are fantastic. Where do you get your energy?
Good luck Angela with the adoption of your kits. Hope everything goes your way.
Sara is such a pretty baby, and the blue cover shows her off beautifully. I don’t know about calicos, buy since they’re females, she sounds very female, to me.
I had a bout with ringworm in my house. Someone else’s cat brought it in, and I had a very multi-cat house hold. I ended up filling a 3-gal garden sprayer w/a 10% bleach and water solution, and spraying my house every day for six mos with the stuff, to kill all the spores, which can get everywhere.
Treated my cats topically and finally got rid of the stuff, but some of the 4-mo old kits came back down with it when they went to their new homes – from stress. It’s really a pain and a mess to get rid of, but it isn’t a reason to put down any babies. I would have been really upset about that.
Well, Vicki, you shook me up with that like you posted a little farther back. http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/ (this one). Be prepared for a shock, if you’ve never seen animal cruelty pics before. Shook me up and I’ve seen a lot, some personally since my daughter has been an animal control officer for many years.
Enough of that. Good thoughts and energy to those who need it.
Keep things fluffy, folks.
I’ll be around for a few more hours.
Ok another cutie. Yahoo, finally fixed it self. Yea.
Keep up the good work Kittenmaster.
Love all the kitties.
Kathy
it’s fixed here too in NY but after all the kitten names it says 4 hour ago? Yahoo!!
Evening all, hope it was a good day for you. Angela, wish that I lived closer to help you, prayers and good thoughts that you get them adopted.
Silly question for all the gurus out there, how do I view all the comments on TDK? I only see what is showing, and that is only a portion of the comments.
Hit “Refresh” every so often and it will post any new comments. Also, when you post a comment it will update any new comments that were recently posted.
Hope this helps. It is what I do.
Lovely Calico markings! May the Lord bless you, this baby, and all your other companions always. 🙂
Oh! Calico baby! 😀 I’ve got two calicos at home – Loki and Kelsey – and I miss them like crazy, Loki especially. She’s the top cat in the house, and she lets you know it! What a sweet little baby Sara is – she looks like a little koi fish. 🙂
Little Sara…oh so sweet. And cute markings to boot!
Awwww Sara you are adorable!!!
Oh so sweet! Enjoy your new life, Sara – it sounds like you’ve got a lot of lovin’ comin’ your way! 😀
