What a wild looking bunch of kittens!
Max went to his new home last night! Yay!!!
One of his roommates, Trixie, has shown a distinct interest in playing with him. Based on early interactions, I predict they’re going to be best buddies in 2 months or less. Trixie shows patience and complete non-threatening behavior, and Max is insatiably curious about Trixie (while being too anxious to play with him yet).
And yes, I miss Max already. But it appears he’ll be very happy in his new home, once he gets adjusted to his surroundings and his new roommates.
So now I’m working with Amelia and Violet, to help them become accustomed to greater amounts of change in their surroundings. It’s slow going, but they’re getting more comfortable with it.
Anncetra, you are a great person with a big heart. It is so hard to get so attached and then to let them go. I get extremly attached to the scared ones and form such a bond. I know you feel hapy and sad at the same time. You are doing so much good and I am so proud to know you.
Please let us know how Savannah and her kittens’ adoptions go. And you’re right; the extra effort needed for sickly or scared kittens tends to form tighter bonds. That can make it even harder to let them go to their loving homes.
How wonderful that he’s got a good home. *hugs* and congratulations!
He’s got a great home! Not many people I know would rip up all the carpeting from their living rooms (due to past cat urination issues) just to help make sure the new kitten didn’t learn inappropriate elimination habits. But it’s been pulled up, the enzyme cleaner has been liberally applied, and there’s are plenty of well-scooped cat litter boxes in the house. Max will have a great time with Trixie!!
Again, awwww. Love happy endings!
That is great news and I am so glad that Max seems to be happy in his new home. I know how much you will miss him but just like our non furry children, it’s hard to let them go but a great feeling that you gave them the best start you could. Congrats!
what sweet widdle babies!!!
I’ll take them all!!!
Ann, you are such an awesome person.
Even though I got the first comment in? 😉
I didn’t feel awesome last night. I was sorry to be leaving him, but by the time I left, he was playing with a toy held by his new owner, and with his soon-to-be-bosom-buddy only a couple of feet away. I suspect his transition will be a relatively easy one, once we got over the worst of the ‘this-is-a-scary-change’ stage.
Awww, Go Max!
Hey, Great Dane, if you picked one up, did the Bobster play with the Cat Dancer?
Anncetera you are a wonderful person to help the kittes. I bet it is hard to let them go when you learn their personalities and they show you some affection. I couldn’t foster kittens as I would want to keep them all.
Hey Huddy’s Mama, I was thinking of you last night! Why do you ask? Because dinner last night at my kitty corral was BLT’s. I ended up fring up 2 lbs of bacon to feed my hungery bunch. Sorry I couldn’t save any for you but you know how it is, when does bacon EVER make it to the left over section?
😀
Too funny!! 2 Pounds of bacon? Wow, what a snack! lol
Aw, HM, won’t you share some of these babies with me? We’ll keep them for a while, then we’ll give them back to the sharing circle, ok?
Of course I’ll share this bundle of cuteness.
POUNCE
POUNCE!
Pouncepouncepouncepouncepounce
I love these kitties!
I love the orange ones best, of course!
I would take everyone of them! If only I could………Back to the land of fat Elvis
Wow, the one in the front looks a lot like my Perry when he was a kitten… Then his color really lightened up.
Happy Wednesday everyone!
i want to scoop them all up into one big group cuddle!!!!!
A whole bunch of cutness..better have the medicinal chocolate handy today.
thudthudthudthudthud….
Heres the chocolate..moves Cheri to sharing circle with kittens.
Thu-ploof! (lands gently next to the pile of kittens) Hey guys, the sharing circle starts here! Breakfast buffet and coffee are right over there, help yourselves!
Thanks! I think some scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, and a big ol’ endless cup of coffee sounds great right now.
I’m eyeing that scrambled eggs, cream cheese, and crab meat casserole, I don’t know about anybody else….here, lemme give a bit of crab meat to the kittens….YUM, kitties…don’t be grabby, there’s a lot here for everybody…
Aaaaah, was looking for the coffee!
I could use some breakfast this am..no time to pick some up. I have been having a tough time with my current temp job and have decided to find something else. I am going to quit my 6 month temp assignment where I do very little for the people I support to take a six temp assignment back at my old company where I worked back in 2005. The only reason I am going to do this is for the fact that there are permanent job opportunities and if I can wow the VP I will be working for, maybe she will hire me permanently. I don’t know how to tell my husband but I am going to tell him tonight when I get home. He is not going to be happy with me but I need to work where there are job opportunities and where I feel my skills are utilized. Now, if I get a job offer from Nintendo, then none of this has to happen and I can just take perm job offer with the understanding that it will be my job for the next five years no matter how I feel about the job, people or the company.
I meant to say quit the six month temp job to take a six week temp job at my old company. Keyboard gremlins.
I am sure I am doing the right thing by doing this with the understanding that it could all backfire today. I will resign from my current six month assignment today and start the six week tomorrow but if Nintendo comes through with perm offer then that is where I will go. So much in so little time. I have a nasty headache and if it wasn’t going to around 85 degrees today, I would be at home.
I am never satisfied and it is wreaking havoc on my jobs and situation. Could use a hug right now. What a mess I have made.
**Majorly supportive hug**
Big hug!
*ginormous hug for Karin*
If you feel you’re doing the right thing, I’d say you ARE.
I don’t think I’d say you’re ‘never satisfied’ though.
Karin, I wish I was there to hug you and get one back. I’ve got some job problems, too. While I love my job at the funeral home, it’s only part time and being a single person who totally supports myself (and have no retirement), I HAVE to have a full time job. Fortunately, I have a very understanding boss who supports the move (it’s a new business and he can’t afford to put me on full time right now.) But at 63, it’s hard to convince a company that you plan to stay with them for a long enough time to make it worthwhile to them. I know I have to work until I’m 66 to collect my maximum social security, and I really don’t know what I’d do if I retired!! I’ve worked all my life (well, since I was 17).
I don’t believe you’ve made a mess of anything–look at the experience you have! Wishing you relief from your headache, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the Nintendo job!
Love ya, Jimmie
Max and Molly’s Mom, I hope you can find a p/t job that pays as well as you would like it to pay and that would work out with the p/t job at the funeral home. It is hard to work two part time jobs. Will think positive thougths that something comes your way.
Big Hug!!
Huge hug for Karin, chin up honey, keep a possitive attitude and all will work out for the best. Don’t forget we are always here for you!
–Karin–
You haven’t made a mess of things. This is just one of many tests given you. God woouldn’t give you what he didn’t think you could handle. I clearly understand when you talk of being an important asset to the company. How can anyone be happy at what they’re doing if they don’t feel they are making a difference.
Hang in there baby 😛
–BTW Karin–
*Here’s a cyber Motrin (if that’s strong enuf) for your headache. Hope it goes away soon. Just curl up w/Sylvester & take a nap when you get home. Then maybe tell the man/friend about the job change. At this point, your welfare comes first.
Great big hugs for you…. {HUS} You have to do what you feel is right for you… hubby will either understand or he won’t. From the sound of things you’ve been down that road with him before. Hang in there sweetie! We are here, and we care.
Thank you for the hugs. I appreciate your support in more ways than one. My husband seems to think, hey you have a nice easy temp job but it isn’t easy as I have to look busy but not look like I am surfing for a perm job or typing on TDK.
I am now suppose to transcribe some meeting notes that were already partially transcribed by someone and I picking up where she left off. Problem is I cannot figure where she left off and the meeting is about dosages, treatments on a drug trial.
Just finish off today and resign at the end of the day. Tomorrow I start a new temp assignment at my old company.
Karin, you have to do what is good for you as far as the job goes…the kitty crew send headbonks and purrs..here have a bowl of Chuck’s “Almost” Famous Taco Soup..cures all ills!
Sounds yummy Chuck! Thank you.
Hi “Crazycatman” Chuck,
What is “Almost” Famous Taco soup, is it anything like my Chuckwagon soup? No pun intended, that is just what it is called. I use chili seasoning, chili powder, onions and tomato sauce. I also use, potatoes, carrots, peas, corn, green beans and red beans or pinto beans, plus hamburger and add some macaroni noodles.
Won’t be taking the temp job at Autodesk. Seems my past has come to bite me. I left the position back in 2005 because my cat was dying but they have decided to put it as a negative in my employee file. So basically am going to write that company off to history and move onwards and upwards. To tell you the truth, that lightens my load immensley. I do have an appt in SF tomorrow and SJ for a seven month temp assignment at Adobe. Think positive for that as well as the hopes that Adobe contacts me tomorrow latest Friday to hopefully offer me a permanent job. Okay…a huge weight is lifted off my chest now. Phew!
HI all, What a bunch of sweeties!!! Can I please share and I brought fresh squeezed orange juice for mimosas from the Sunshine State!!!
Gosh, I really miss that fresh squeezed orange juice from Florida!
When my Mom and Dad were alive and lived in Florida, they had a friend who worked for the Indian River Fruit Co. and he always brought over a gallon of orange juice when I was coming for a visit. Sure do miss that juice!! I understand it was made from many different varieties of oranges, which, of course, made it sooooooo good.!
OH My Gosh!!! The company I used to work for (YUCK BTW) was the parent company for IRF. oh my!
What a bunch of cuties!
Hey, guys I need your kind thoughts and prayers today. My landlord (from whom we are buying some rental properties) is causing all sorts of trouble for me and my man-friend, even though we’ve done nothing wrong. He’s using tactics that I think are illegal. Adding to the trouble, my man-friend has been diagnosed with PTSD, and so the landlord’s actions have him really distraught.
It seems like some people just like to make trouble and make others miserable, and the landlord is one of them, the big bully.
Have y’all consulted a lawyer yet? Seriously, if you think he’s doing stuff that’s illegal, do you really think you should be buying rental property from him?
Not yet, but planning to. We had been working with this guy for years, and he only recently started being so, well, unfluffy, shall we say. I’d be happy just walking away, but my guy …
One way or another, this will all work out, but my man-friend’s having a really tough time right now.
Prayers, purrs and positive vibes…. The mean dude WILL get his eventually….
I’m so sorry about your man-friend having a tough time of it. He should do whatever he can to remember that these difficulties are due to the landlord, not him. It’s okay if he’s upset, but he shouldn’t ‘own’ any part of the overall problem that doesn’t originate with himself.
Hang in there, and definitely get a consult with a lawyer.
Catherine, I am sorry you are going through all this grief from the landlord. I would definitely suggest visiting a lawyer for some advice as to how to proceed if this landlord is doing some illegal stuff to you. Hugs and purrs.
{{{HUGS}}}
Thoughts, prayers, headbonks, and sandpaper kisses and or course lots of purrs from us!!!
Sorry for the troubles..people like that make me crazy, tell the man-friend to hang in there no need to let the bully landlord to get him all worked up.
My kitties send leg rubs, headbonks and purrs!
Hissss and *scratch* to the land lord! Don’t let him bring you down.
Oh, yuck! *hugs and headbutts* to you two and *fffffft* to the landlord. Are there local groups that might be able to help your man-friend?
Hi Catherine –
Much positive energy headed your way; purrs and headbonks too.
If a lawyer is not in your budget, call a Realtor. They know what legal and whats not, and if they don’t know, they know who to call to get an answer. In the process, you might find someone better to do your real estate business with.
That’s a good idea. I hadn’t thought about Realtors.
Catherine, I sorry for your troubles. Big bullies get their comuppance in the end. I will say a prayer for you and your man friend to get things worked out to your satisfaction.
Thanks, everyone. When the world gets me down, it’s nice that I can come here and talk to people who care about their fellow man — and I can look at cute kittens and get medicinal chocolate.
Yikes! How terrible of that landlord. I send you my prayers & wish things get better for you & your man-friend soon!
I’m sorry Catherine. I hope it all works out for you. some peole DO just like to make trouble. They are so miserable they have to share!!!
*hugs and prayers to you and the manfriend*
I second the idea of calling a local Realtor. I am a Realtor in Georgia and I could try to help, but the laws may differ state to state. If you’d like my opinion on the situation please send the details to Catwoman1737 at aol dot com and I’ll see what I can do.
These are such a wonderful varied bunch…you must have had more fun than a anything imaginable…and you are so generous for sharling your home and your love..
I love the little gray one in front, looking DIRECTLY in the camera for his/her beauty shot! 🙂
5 times the cute! what an awesome story…
have a great day y’all.
THU-FFFF! Whew, I landed on ppearson!
Beautiful set of rainbow kittens! I’ll spend the rest of my day here!!! – ppearson, are you still alive???
Ouch! I’m ok, just startled. I’ll scootch over so you can pet the kitties too. HM has her two-pound bacon snack and Great Dane has her coffee. Catherine, here is a big plate of chocolate truffles for you and the man friend.
One Popokie are you out there? Just wanted you to know I am still sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Cheri, you too, for your move. Sending lots of fluffy thoughts and hugs to my TDK family and their kits. (permanent, fosters and ferals alike)
Oh yeah and Karin too on the second Nintendo interview.
Still waiting to hear from Nintendo. I wish they would contact me today. The waiting is driving me nuts!
Miu, if you spilled the coffee ppearson brought for me, you’re in BIG trouble!!!!
Great Dane, relax… there’s PLENTY for EVERYONE!!
Here Great Dane have a drink..it’s called a “Nutty Irishman”
1 part Baileys
1part Frangelico (hazelnut liquer)
pour in glass over ice
Oooooooh, now THAT’S more like it! Thanks, Chuck!
Thanks ppearson… I’m here. Lurking.
Lurk away, just know that I am thinking about you and sending good coping vibes your way. ((Hugs))
Bless you… I have your email written down both at home and at work. I have not forgotten your offer. 🙂
Hope things get better for you One Popoki. Hope you were able to work something out with your HOA. Hugs and purrs.
This picture made my day. How sweet.
This group is so adorable they brought tears to my eyes. Just look at the expression on each precious little face.
Catwoman, how are you today?
I am well, Sharon, thanks for asking! I hope you are the same. Like several others on here I am working two jobs. One as a first-year Realtor and the other is contract work for my former company, Lancome. I worked for Lancome today (and will again tomorrow) and what a ride it was home from Cumberland Mall in the rain.
Awww… What a beautiful bunch. Savannah also has 2 oranges, 2 greys and a “semi tux”. Curly is black with white paws, white streak on his chest and a white soul patch.
We had a cat in the trap today:) 🙂 🙂 Nothing can spoil this day! Tomorrow, Shadow, one of the socialized feral boys will be neutered, tested and vaccinated so next week he can go to his new home with his new papa Brian. Brian has been waiting for weeks for this new addition to his family. Then I can concentrate on Hunter who now loves to be petted and purrs like a large truck and Pufflett who will climb all over me but is still skittish about being petted. My specialty is scared cats so (s)he will come around. Hopefully, Pufflett is a girl or (s)he may have gender issues caused by such a girly name 🙂
That’s great news, Kittypaw!
I hope Brian’s excited about Shadow! And I’m sure Hunter and Pufflet will both come around soon. Have you tried plain yogurt on fingertips with Pufflet yet, to be licked off? It usually helps them see fingertips in a more positive light.
Brian is very excited. He took the first kitten, Twisty, home for the night so I could get prepared. Twisty was the one my partner just nabbed with her bare hand one day and was scratched to pieces for her effort. She didn’t let go though 🙂 Well Twisty cried and cried so Brian wrapped him in a towel and rocked him ALL night that night which was the only thing that kept Twisty from crying. Thats the kind of person Brian is. He is also a co-worker so I can hear Shadow stories and know how he is doing. I have tried the yogurt. Pufflett was not impressed. She (I’ll assume Pufflett is a girl for now) will bat my hands and lick my (plain) fingers. I can even stick out one finger and stroke her toes. She is following the exact same path Hunter did. About 1 1/2 weeks ago Hunter just came up and plopped down in my lap. Until then we had only gotten to the point that he would only allow me to pet him when he was eating. I find it is usually like a lightbulb switches on. You work and work at it and it seems to be going so slow. Then poof! They “get” it. Did you ever see my story about Lil Hunney? If not, I’ll post it again. It’s been 1 1/2 years since she passed and I still never know when I will start bawling for her.
Oh geez, I just this minute got an email from my daughter who wants to move back home tonight. Nothing like a little notice. Sigh….. Y’all pray for me to have strength, patience and not to fall apart in my much too crowded house. My daughter is not a terrible person. She and I are just so different and she can push my buttons like no-one else. I matured very young, moved from my mothers house when I was 18 and was way too proud to ask for anything. But I managed O.K. My daughter just breezes through life and when she screws up expects someone to pull her irons out of the fire. I hoped I had let her fall flat on her face often enough that she would grow out of this (she is 20) but there is always someone there to make things O.K. for her. I swear, if she stood on the side of the highway and her lip trembled cars would be lined up for a mile with people trying to “make it better”. She’s also a slob. She wasn’t raised that way but I swear I never thought anyone would live the way she is willing to live unless they were mentally ill in some way. Sorry to freak out but difficult days are coming and I need prayer. Lots of prayer.
Prayers coming your way! Before you let her come back to your house. Set some rules that she has to agree to IN WRITING or she is not welcome to come home. Include keeping things clean, paying bills, and anything else that bothers you about her. Make it tough to be at home and maybe she will make a good effort to get back out on her own. Have in writing the consequences for not doing her share to be a good roommate, because at 20 she should be treated like a roommate with responsibilities and not like a child. Good luck.
Good idea Ppearson. We had a contract when she was a teen. It was better than not having one. This one is going to be much tougher and I have no qualms about kicking her butt right out the door now since she 20 and not 16.
Kittypaw, definitely draw up a contract. And yes, if she repeatedly violates it, getting kicked out is not an unreasonable course of action.
(The penalties for violations should be spelled out in the contract.)
Great ideas by Anncetera and ppearson about the contract and rules. If you your daughter cannot agree to the terms then she shouldn’t move back in. Hope you both can work it out. Positive thoughts, hugs and purrs to you Kittypaw.
Of course-prayers and {{hugs}}.
KITTYPAW IN MEMPHIS,
I feel your pain about the daughter thing mine can and will push my buttons when ever she can(she’s 27). And yes she lives at home! AHHHHH!
I now know why certian animals eat there young!!
Keep your chin up, If ya don’t you’ll trip!
I give you a lot of credit with all you do with the ferrels, if I did that I couldn’t let them go
peace
Dorie
My parents informed me when I graduated from high school, I could stay with them and work or I could go to college. I went to college but since I wasn’t that motivated, I dropped out, moved back in and went to work. I will had to do my chores, etc. I ended up moving out age 20 and basically was told in so many words that I could never move back in. That was 24 years ago.
You all have heard about my mom’s little boy dog that thinks he is a MAMA CAT. Talk about issues!!
Tiger’s mom, I must have missed that story. It must be a good one.
I moved in with my parents to help take care of my mom (she has cancer) with Tiger and George (who has gone to her furever home). Tiger was only about 8 weeks old and missed his fur mama. He started to nurse on Bailey who is a minature lab and a little boy to boot!!!!
*dives into the middle of the adorable kitties for a huge dose of kitty attacks and kitty purrs before rushing off to school for her psychology and art history classes*
Family fuzz! These babies will do fine, they’ve already learned to pose
for the camera.
What a precious hand full of different colored fluff!
I have a question if anyone can help.
A friend complaining that her 7 yr old neutered female cat has started to urinate in places other than the litter box – in shoes, clothes, on the bed, bathtub and with an occacional tinge of blood. Is this a urinary infection?? and are there any over the counter remedies she could try – like a fish antibiotic?? Or is the only option a trip to the vet.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Blood in the urine? Straight to the vet for a uti.
Sorry, my comment shows up further down, but I advise seeing the vet as soon as possible.
any trace of blood in the utine go straight to the vet. urinating out of the litterbox is a common symptom of a uti. the kitty is trying to tell her something is wrong. utis can be deadly if not treated quick enough.
On a similar note, I noticed at Petsmart that there is now a litter designed to detect UTI’s. Has anyone used it? Sure seems like a great idea to determine if you need to go to the vet, or just give extra love and clean out the cat box.
What a pile of sweethearts – I wanna dive in and snuggle.
Hi TDKr’s – hope y’all have a great day!
Hi Cuz!! what’s new?
I spent my day mowing the lawn, weedwacking and gardening(5 hours). took a shower and then walked outside in bare feet and got stung on the toe! I’m highly allergic and had to give myself a shot of epinephrine, called the doctor as my foot really swelled up but, i’m breathing ok, he told me to take benadryl and he knows me soo well “stay off the foot” so i’ve been bored most of the afternoon. I can’t sit still and stay off the foot, that’s not me!
take care cuz
Dorie
A trip to the vet is called for. Sounds like a urinary tract infection to me, but it could be something more serious. If it’s successfully treated with antibiotics, then it’s a good idea to take note of which antibiotic and what dosage seemed to work, in case it recurs.
Vet visit is the first step toward getting this straightened out, the sooner, the better; inappropriate elimination is not a habit you want a cat to learn.
Good for you for being concerned!! I trapped a mom and kittens in San Jose about a year ago – got mom fixed and all babies adopted. Plus helped to get 20 other feral cats in the neighborhood fixed and released. Thanks to you for the kittens (and mom) who will now have a much better life in loving homes!!! ( :
Good for you, Amy! That’s a bunch of kitties who are busy having better lives today, because of you.
**Helmsley’s dog gets $12 million in will**
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070829/ap_on_re_us/helmsley_s_pooch
What the hell is the dog supposed to do with the money? It can neither spend nor invest $12,000,000. Some rich people sure are weird.
Maybe she really was “The Queen of Mean.”
I agree, Vicki, think of how many pets that money could really help!
Some thoughts for what the dog can do.
1. Corner the market in pig ears.
2. Give it to a spaying and neutering initiative–for cats.
3. Finally get a collar with REAL diamonds, instead of rhinestones, which are far too common and humiliating to wear.
4. Avoid tax because only the little dogs pay taxes.
5. Get a squad of mercenaries to follow on walks and take out those annoying squirrels for good.
😆 love it
Me too! 😆
Too funny!!!!
Only poor people are weird….rich people are eccentric.
So is the middle class weirdly eccentric? 🙂
We certainly ARE!!
–You guys are too funny 😆

Somehow, deb, this sounds more like a man than a virus (with a few exceptions, of course).
Aren’t most men mainly comprises of testosterone and viruses? lol
Of course this doesn’t include our own Chuck and Instinct. They have proven to be virus free for a long time. We just need to make sure they stay that way!
I don’t know about Instict, but I have good anti-virus software.
Chuck, any man who loves cats (animals in general) and can keep up with this mostly female site is on the top of my “good” list.
Exactly what I was thinking!
That’s hilarious Debsterwiz!
I’ve got one along those lines.
Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0
Dear Tech Support:
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slowdown in the performance of the flower and jewelry applicatons that had operated flawlessly under the Boyfriend 5.0 system.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9, and installed undesirable programs such as NFL 7.4, NBA 3.2 and NHL 4.1
Conversation 8.0 also no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.
I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate
Renee-I’ve always said that marriage ruins beautiful friendships.
–Max and Molly’s Mom–
That includes long-running domestic partner arrangements also (22 yrs. so far). 😆
Susie in CA,
The only difference between a partnership and marriage is a piece of paper, and maybe an expensive ceremony. 🙂 In your mind you probably feel married. It’s hard for me to explain. No offense intended. It doesn’t bother me that people live together just as long as they care for one another.
Good wishes are sent your way for good health.
From the ASPCA
**HAPPY BERGH-DAY TO YOU!**
Stick a candle in your morning bagel, give your pet a big hug and help us celebrate the birthday of ASPCA founder Henry Bergh next Wednesday, August 29. Bergh, born in 1813, founded the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals—the first organization of its kind in the Western Hemisphere—in New York City in 1866, and set to work on the society’s mission to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to all animals throughout the United States.
The comforts that Bergh gained for creatures just during his lifetime are enormous in scope. In addition to helping to pass a much more effective anti-cruelty law for New York State, Bergh inspected slaughterhouses and stables, lectured in schools and spoke out against dog fighting, vivisection, horse racing and circuses. He advocated humane alternatives to live pigeons at shooting events, and supplied daily drinking water to the horses who pulled carts and streetcars in Manhattan. By the time of Bergh’s death in 1888, humane societies had sprung up throughout the nation—among the first to follow New York City’s lead were Buffalo, Boston and San Francisco.
He deserves many candles. Thank you, Dee.
I want that one, and that one, and that one…
Morning all, isn’t this just the eclectic bowl of kittens and love the names!
Renee, thanks for the tip of refreshing to see some of the other comments…..;D
AZDeb & the horde,
You are welcome for the tip! Glad to be of service and that it worked for you. I’m always learning something, especially about computers. I’m one of those, if I find out something new that might be of interest or help someone, I like to pass it on. Sometimes it is just a simple tip but could be helpful.
what beautiful kittens, all rescued with their mum! Thanks so much for saving them from growing up feral. I’d take the little black one myself if I could!
Me, too, but don’t the gray tiger stripes have the prettiest eyes?
–catless in t.o.–
Would you mind me fantasizing you taking all my black kitties & adults honme too?
I have 3 back kittens,from 2 different litters, & 3 adults,& that’s indoors.
It would surely lighten my load & I think you’d have fun w/them as well. 🙂
Done! I now virtually have six cats. My house is now full of pretend feline love and hijinks!!!! Thanks so much for making my daydream day!!!
Naww, what an adorable armfull of fuzz! I love the way it looks like they are *all* saying, “aren’t we cute! pet us!” at once.

What a buffet of kitties!!! All of them are so sweet!
Good thing I don’t have to choose one because I would never be able to decide.
All you can snuggle – one low price!
bless your heart for taking in that mamma kitty and her ADORABLE babies!
What great names.
That’s just too much cuteness in a single picture. Must have been tons of fun having five rambunctious kittens in the house.
Hi Y’all– Angela Motorman was supposed to bring over the kitties Teddie and Allie today, but she is stuck in Chattanooga dealing with her horrible landlord! (See her post from yesterday) Just like Catherine in Waco, this guy seems to be a real you-know-what. Send good thoughts her way please so she can keep the house she and her hubby are living in. Hopefully she can bring the kits on Sunday. Just so happens the cat from across the street came over with her three kits today, and I fed them. I think she wants me to take care of them because the people across the street sure aren’t! They are practically starving!
Mama kit knows where she and her little ones will be taken care of. Blessings to you, Jadete!
Stuck I am today, but I am coming on Sunday, Jadete! Now don’t let those cute kitties from across the street blind you to the overwhelming adorableness of Teddie and Allie (aka Steed and Mrs. Peel: http://www.catster.com/cats/615205 ). I’ve been telling them all about you and the adventure they’re about to embark on!
As for the kitties across the street: Do they nominally belong to a neighbor? Maybe you can talk with the neighbor. My next door neighbor here took over two years to come around on the question of caring for local ferals. We had a series of horrible arguments, but after the second time that a kitty got killed in front of her house, it was like a lightbulb finally switched on and now she wants me to help her (who will provide funding) to trap and neuter all the females around here. Yeah!
And back in Ohio, I had a next door neighbor who had grown up on a farm and was sure “his” cats were fine outdoors in the middle of winter and could find food just like “barn cats”. I had to get animal services to come school him about city life and laws…and still, he didn’t really get it until “his” cat had kittens under the plastic cover of the window well by my front door. At that point, I left a note on his door telling him I was keeping her and the kittens until they were old enough to adopt and momcat could be spayed.
It worked out fine, although he got a little testy as the kittens got older and his kids wanted to see them — I let the kids come over but made it clear that unless he was ready to do the work of getting the kittens adopted, they would stay in my house. Eventually, they were all adopted, Momcat was spayed, and when she went back home next door, the owner finally “got it”. She (and her older neutered male companion) now live indoors for the most part, and never spend the night outside. Plus I still get to visit one of the kittens, adopted and adored by a friend.
And relations with the neighbor were better than before!
So, try talking: it can’t hurt, and might work.
See ya Sunday, with bells and ribbons and kittens!
Oh, how I’d like to be there for this happy meeting! All those kitties–don’t think I’d ever go home!
I have had NO luck with the catster adoption page, seems that every one who writes me is just wasting time sending out messages and is not really interested. I am fully frustrated with that! How has your luck been?
MerD,
Same here, unfortunately. I’m glad you commented — I t
hought it was just my presentation. But all I’ve gotten from Catster was noise as you describe. And requests to be “friends” — even from the CocoPuff entry, which as yet has absolutely no information on the page! I said yes to the first two requests, but I can’t see why any more.
BTW, Craigslist — which is great for finding rental housing, and some other things — is a total waste of time for finding homes for kittens. Maybe this will change in time, but for now I’m going back to leaflets and the local daily newspaper.
Angela Motorman,
Brandi Lee mentioned something about taking your kitties, if you don’t find homes for them. You can ask her to make sure. I read it the other day when you posted. Good luck. I wish I could take CocoPuff but I have so many already and it is a handful. I have about 16-20 cats. He just melts my heart. I had a cat like him when I was a kid. She lived to be 14yrs. old.
Angela,
I will take all of the babies that are not spoken for.
as I mentioned before I have 24 cats 7 dogs 2 turtles and one mighty ferret………… I am not a horder….most of my cats were bred here. I bred but never sold, I gave. I started rescuing shortly after….. I have many, but no one goes with out. please contact me, so that we can work out who needs a home. I even will transport back to you those you wish to keep after your move and transition if thats what you want……………. brandi dot lee at kmsi dot us……..jinxedfairy2003 at yahoo dot com
contact me directly and i will give you my phone number……..we can work out the details…………
–MerD & Angela Motorman–
I understand your frustration. And of course, the kittens just keep growing & growing till they’re not adoptable.
A nice glass of chablis usual helps alittle w/that frustration.
*and I don’t mean to make light of your feelings. I do understand
None of my kittens have been adopted via Catster. It seems to generate wonderful feelings, but no good adoptive homes.
I’ve had more luck with associates at work, friends involved in mutual hobbies, etc. than with Catster. I’m torn as to whether or not to put up a sign at my local public library.
I knew when I took these guys in, that if I didn’t find them homes, they’d become my kitties. When there are only 3, and I only had 4 to begin with, that’s not unmanageable. 1 has found a home, and Mama Kitty will end up going back outside this weekend (with another stray coming indoors; no net gain or loss). Seven kitties, when 3 months ago I had only 4. Sigh. I love them all, but I’d really like to see the two kittens get into good homes.
Just as a general note, please never ever post or let anybody else post notices for kittens (or any other animal) “Free to good home.” Among other dangers, they can go to labs or to fighting dog trainers, where they’re used as bait. People also tend to mentally devalue something they got for free. You can make part of it refundable after they neuter, or neuter first and use their payment to pay for it, or give it to the local animal society, but make sure they pay something.

That’s what I was thinking! For Great Dane. She’s got to have her coffee fix for the morning and Bob! I voted for Bob and Gimpy several times this morning. They are adorable! 🙂
Tiger, Baily (the he/she dog/cat), and Muffin all voted for Gimpy and Bob. Let’s keep Gimpy as #1 this month, Bob #1 next month and then… TIGERBUTT!!!!!!

they are adorable!!! i would adopt a boy cat if i saw those precious little faces haha 🙂
Is there a problem with male cats? My 3 guys are just as wonderful as the females. Is there some sort of stigma attached? I have never brought a cat home based on it’s sex.
All my cats are male. I started off with a male and didn’t add a female because of litterbox issues a couple of my friends had when they tried to mix males and females who werent raised together. So I’ve stuck with males every since. I will not have a female cat for the reasons mentioned above.
Wow, I’ve never had any problems. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.
I don’t know, I’ve got 5 females and 2 males and the only time I have a litterbox problem is when either Sami or Rusty don’t feel the box is clean enough, and thats rare if at all. Sounds more like a catittude problem.
Yeah I have to agree..I have 3 males 2 females and that is the only time I have a problem as well.
Man, I feel so jealous of you guys. I’ve neither the room or space to have so many. All of mine have been ferals or dump-offs,or abandoned by owners.
Without the help of the few vouchers & help from the beautiful people here on TDK helping me,I probably would’ve lost my marbles by now.
BTW,Thanks Kittenmaster for this site 😛
Hey..I would bring everyone I saw in if I could. I was out to dinner with a friend the other night and there was a little tortie in the parking lot when we left. My friend wouldn’t let me go get it. So I went back later looking..if I had found it I would have 6 now.
A man after my own heart! Last week when I was taking out my mothers trash, I spotted two tuxies and if I could have gotten close enough I would now have 9!
My two babies are both dark — Rotley is black and Ruggles is a superdark mahogany. They are the funniest and most affectionate little boys, and when we chose each other, I had no idea what the sex was until the assistant told me. I just fell in love at first sight. Rotley came home in February 2004 and Ruggles became his “brother” in October 2004. They fight, play, sleep together, yell at each other, and when one gets locked in a room by accident, the other little boy screams until I come running. They are pure joy.
It could just be a bias against female animals on my part. I do know that I have one. I almost didn’t take Khalua once I found out she was female, but she was the only dog so it didn’t matter. (Khalua was my 120 rottweiler – she’s at the rainbow bridge now).
She and Sebastian were raised together and sebastian used to ride around on her back.
Now that’s a funny image. Wish you had a picture of them riding off into the sunset 🙂
Susie, yes I do feel blessed to be able to afford and care for my babies but honestly, most of them were either left with me and the owner did not claim or I took them in because it was either I take them or they were headed to the SPCA or being dumped in a field somewhere. I have one who just showed up and moved herself right in! Only three of my “tribe” did I say, yes lets keep or take this one. Does it matter how I got them? Nope. I love them all just the same. My little patchwork family is the best!
–debsterwiz–
I’ll bet your in the same row-boat as myself. With (at last count-19) cats & kittens, they seem to be eating better & more than I do. 🙂
It’s a good thing they all like Rice & potatoes, because I mix alot of them into their food.
I have all females, not by my choosing (we know THEY chose ME!). I know of others who had problems having more than one male, even though they were neutered.
–crazycatman–
More times than not, even after nuetering, male cats have territorial issues. They tend to spray when their ‘space’ gets invaded by other males
Hmmm..I have always had my male kittens neutered as soon as the vet would allow and have not had problems. I do know that if you don’t get them neutered before they start spraying then they will continue, but that is why I always did it early on.
It’s also a fact that some cats, male & female, even after being spayed or neutered will continue to spray. That happens more in multiple-cat households.
Your blessed w/some cool cats –crazycatman–having so many males w/out any of those issue
That must be why my kids call me “Dr. Dolittle” : )
But I have also had female cats act the same way, unless they were spayed before they started spraying.
I’ve only ever brought a cat home based on sex to avoid dominance issues.
–Andi–
I know what you mean. The only dominance problems I’ve had were w/torties or black cats w/siamese flowing in their veins. 😆
My recently departed ‘Julie’ was Tortie, & as far as I was concerned,if she wanted to be queen,& the others bowed down to her, then it was her throne. She managed to keep them all in line, bless her heart. I’ll truly miss her.
I have had no dominance issue with my tortie, Penny. But, she doesn’t really like the other kitties she just tolerates their presence.
I have had several male cats and several times in my life have had mixed tribes. Thierry is as sweet and docile a cat as there ever was and is happy to leave the girls to figure out who is alpha cat. Former male cats Heathcliff (siamese) and Pelphrey (Maine Coon) were also big cuddle bugs. We get all cats spayed or neutered as soon as a vet will allow and have never had spraying issues. Some people are afraid of adopting male cats because of the spraying issue, but a little education can change minds.
exactly–ppearson–
Most spraying problems I had were the outdoor ferals. You have to nip that fast w/repellents or they can distroy your shrubbery
Hey Susie:
I have a group of 5, and only one female, because she really is extremely territorial. The boys are pretty easy-going, but Desdemona will NOT tolerate another female. I did have another girl, Miranda, but Desdemona made her life so miserable that Miranda ran away from the house and would refuse to return.
I think that if I were so inclined, to get more cats, I would definitely get more males. Desdemona also has no compunction in taking out her bad temper on me, and it hurts my feelings (she is my soulmate).
I don’t think that there is anything inherent in girl kitties that makes them more desirable; I think people take them with the intention of possibly having kittens in the future, and boys kitties have the “tom” reputation to overcome. My boys are adorable and very loving; Desdemona is a full-on “rhymes with witch” but I adore her and am willing to do almost anything to cater to her every need. (This does, I realize, say much more about my pathologies than hers).
I think all kitties are great, and we should all have as many as possible – this is the only reason I would ever consider getting my own house.
**Fatty Knut Put on Strict Diet**
July 31, 2007
Knut, the world’s most famous polar bear, is off the scales after eating too many snacks and has been put on a diet. The Berlin Zoo said Knut’s handlers have been told to stop feeding him extra rations of croissant, fish and meat.
Former polar bear superstar Knut, whose celebrity has waned since he stopped being a cute cub, has been put on a diet because he is getting too fat, the Berlin Zoo announced on Tuesday.
“Knut has become noticeably round,” zoo vet Andreas Ochs said. “So we shall be feeding him restrictively.”
That means no more croissants and extra portions of fish and meat for the shaggy youngster, who turns eight months on August 5.
He is now believed to weigh around 60 kilograms but the zoo can’t be sure exactly because its scales only go to 50 kilos.
Ochs said Knut’s helpers will make sure he doesn’t snatch any extra rations from the kitchen table or from baskets while he watches them prepare his dishes.
Being a few pounds overweight is common among zoo animals because they don’t get to move around as much as in the wild. Berlin’s lions and tigers are forced to fast for one or two days each week to prevent them getting too chubby.
“We can’t do that with Knut because he’s still growing,” said Ochs.
OMG, so cute, I want them all!!
Very cute bunch of kittens.
It’s always interesting to see how “diverse” a single litter can be. The black kitten with the orange and grey tabbies. Part of what we can love about cats.
–Need alittle info from anyone–
My man/friend(questionable) is finally going in for some help on his depression issues. I do know that they don’t prescribe anything w/out a counseling first. Is it usually a one- time counseling,or do they expect follow-ups? I’m asking because when it comes to counseling of any kind,he thinks they’re all quacks,& doesn’t believe in it. So I don’t think he’s going to be honest w/the doctor or w/me about the outcome.
Any info on the subject will be gladly accepted. 🙂
Susie, medications can be prescribed after the first visit but the maintain an active script for the stuff he will need follow up visits. Sorry but when dealing with controlled substances, they have to do what they have to do. If he isn’t honest about what he is going thru, they won’t prescribe anything at all.
I send prayer and hugs to you that he comes to his sences and realizes that it is ok to accept help when you obviously need it.
They tend to expect followups. I know, I’ve been there and I’m pretty much with your manfriend about psychiatry XD I have no use for it and believe that the whole thing is an expensive, self-perpetuating setup that discourages self-reliance and looking within for answers.
When my ex was put on anti-depressants, they wanted at least 6 sessions, I believe. Certainly more counseling before a script is refilled too many times. That was over 20 years ago, but I doubt things have changed much in the venue.
Good luck to you and to him. If he’s fighting the counseling things may get a bit rocky.
–Thanks all for your input–
It gives me different perspectives. I just got a call from him as I was typing this. They said the first visit was enuf for now because the prescription he was getting was a low dose. What bothers me is that it’s Prozac. I don’t care for some of the results people have gotten using the stuff.
One good note: He got his bone scan results,& Yipeeeee, the results were negative. The cancer hasn’t gone to the bones. The tests for the surrounding organs & lymphnodes will be in in about a week. But doc told him it’s looking good all the way around. I’m crossing my fingers & praying like I never prayed before that those tests show a good outcome.
Thanks all you guys & gals for letting me talk of this. It’s the only place I have to turn to.
{{{HUGS}}}
Susie:
I take Prozac, and have been for a while, and I have not had any adverse side effects. Some of my friends (I like to hang out with other depressives) have had bad consequences – one of my friends got insomnia, and she said that while she felt so much better, she hadn’t slept in three days.
Please remember that these medications are accretion based. That means that it may take up to a month for him to feel any difference, as the chemicals build up in his system. Try not to let him quit before that happens.
My mother was bi-polar and both my sister and I have significant depression issues. My sister, an addict in recovery, has consistently fought the need for medications, whereas I embrace them readily. I don’t like feeling bad, and, as Oscar Goldman said, “We have the technology”.
It is good to know that the cancer front is somewhat more optomistic. Hang in there, drop me a line when you get a chance-
Love,
Kate
Aww Susie, major hugs to you. It is wonderful that inspite of your manfriend being a bear at times, you do support him in his quest to feel better. I am glad to hear the scans of his bones are cancer free. Hope that he keeps getting negative results on the scans/biopsies. Good luck with the anti-depressant. Each person has to figure out which anti-depressants can help them as each drug reacts differently with each person. Hopefully he can find the dosage that helps him.
My PCP keeps trying to put me on it, but I cannot function of those kinds of scripts. No follow ups, no counseling, no nothing. Just the script. Threw mine away, Got kittens instead 😆
–MerD–
You made me laugh out loud. As I was reading your post,I looked over to see my Cowboy smack Runt’s kitten Spider across the head because he was getting in his face. I can see what you mean by getting the cats instead. 😆
Susie, it depends upon the doctor, but most physicians are reluctant to prescribe anti-depressants long-term, if the depression can be treated effectively with counseling.
Even if the depression is treated by a physician with medication only, there will need to be several follow-up visits to determine if the medication is working or not. Even if it is working, there may need to be additional visits to determine if the proper dosage has been achieved.
If he doesn’t believe in psychiatric counseling, he needs to be honest with the doctor about that. That limits the doctor to only prescribing pharmaceutical therapy (along with suggestions for nutrition and exercise). Personally, I’d hope your man friend would be willing to pursue whatever treatment that would lift the heavy burden of depression from his daily life. But if he will not accept psychiatric help, he needs to be straight with his doctor about it.
(His doctor is not out to hurt him, and his doctor is not a quack. If his doctor will not assist in such a way that his condition eventually improves, then he needs to find a new doctor.)
–anncetera–
I agree w/you whole-heartedly. Just getting some good test results back, I good hear a 200% jump in his attitude for the better. All along I’ve been telling him most of what you’ve stated. While I’m pumping him up,I’m secretly screamibng in my own depression. So TDK has been good therapy for me since I don’t have insurance to get my own help.
I grew up always believing in the power of positive thinking,so I’ve had an easier go of getting thru the hard times. It sure does a number on your immune system tho.
Susie,
It’s important to grasp the distinction between psychiatric and psychological therapy. All anti-depressants should be prescribed by and followed up under the occasional care of a psychiatrist — they are MDs — but the kind of therapy most folks need for depression is best done by psychologists. I would strongly urge your friend to give such talk thereapy a try. Look for a specialist in cognitive behavioral therapy. Their specialty is helping folks learn how to cope, not digging into the supposed traumas of childhood.
So much has changed in our understanding of mental health in the last twenty years: what I’m saying here is now conventional wisdom in medical circles. If you find some shrink who says it require years of therapy, you’re talking to the wrong doc. Likewise, if this drug doesn’t work, and the prescribing doc claims that means drugs aren’t the answer, you also need another opinion.
Most depressed patients are most successfully treated with a combination of drug and talk therapy, and when one drug doesn’t work, the second or third one may well work wonders. Remember these keys points: much depression is anger turned inwards. Most depression is really the loss of inability to cope and balance — successful therapy teaches how to regain and maintain balance, resilience, coping skills.
Finally, whatever docs are seeing him for physical ailments should be aware of all this. Depression is a clinical symptom, and may be related to other illness.
Knowing he’s having such problems may be an important clue they need to know.
And as for you: girl, get thee to a doctor! You know the rule — put the oxygen mask on yourself first. You can’t help anybody (even if you think you can) when you’re screaming inside. Take care of yourself. Nudge him to trust docs who can help him learn to take care of himself better. You can both be living a much happier life in a short time — believe it!
–Angela–
Well written & positive thought-provoking. Have you ever thought of going into the profession of psychology?
Wonderfully written, Angela Motorman. I agree with all you have mentioned.
I think it depends on who they see..some will prescribe on first visit other will not. But, there will be follows to see how the meds are affecting the individual. This is based on experience with ex and oldest daughter. My daughter does have individual and group therapy but that also depends on who they see.
I wish you and him good luck. If you go into it thinking that you can’t get any help from the couseling then he probably won’t get any.
“… If you go into it thinking that you can’t get any help from the couseling then he probably won’t get any.”
This is totally true. The most insidious thing depression does is rob the patient of the ability to imagine that things could be different. I am a scientifically-minded skeptic, but even I advise friends that the promise of therapy and medication to help end depression is something you just have to take on faith — because the proof won’t be obvious until the patient has started to heal. It’s important to seek out and listen to people who have been over this road — who did not believe until they’d stuck it out for a while and one day realized that black cloud had lifted, and they could dream and take initiative again. There are a million horror stories about both
bad therapy and wrong medications, but don’t let those [which are mistakes by individual doctors, not failures of the meds or the therapy per se] scare you away before you listen to some success stories. Find those folks who’ve been helped, and stay in touch with them.
I, too, wish you both all the best luck — and preseverance!
Thanks all for your input. This place is such good therapy!
{{GROUP HUG}}
anyone else for it?
Susie, I am one of those people who has been “helped”. If you want to discuss it sometime, you have my email but just in case – lioness zero three six at yahoo dot com
Hugs and purrs.
I don’t go for counseling at all, but I am on medication and have been for a long time (having a nervous breakdown at 12 will do that to a person).
I used a counselor for about a year, but then I figured out that all they do is ask you how you feel. Look, if you felt right you wouldn’t be paying them that horrible hourly salary they get. lol
But I don’t go without my meds – ever.
I had a nasty little incident a few years back because I quit taking my medication and vowed never to go off it again.
Everybody is different though. It’s according to what makes yuou feel best. There is no ‘right way’ to treat depression.
HM, your experience is similar to mine. I’m on medication and probably will be for the rest of my life. Psychiatric counseling is good for helping me learn coping skills, but with very few exceptions, it’s not been helpful with achieving the kind of paradigm shift that would be needed to eliminate my depression.
Bupropion SR is a wonderful thing; it’s almost like it ‘corrects’ my brain chemistry back to a normal response to various stimuli. It doesn’t mean I’m ecstatically happy or anything, but it means I have normal, healthy patterns of thinking and feeling. It seems to be precisely what’s needed to effectively treat my depression.
However, everyone’s different, and what works for one person may not work for another. I encourage Susie’s man friend to seek whatever treatment works best for him.

He told me himself,he’s never been able to accept turning 60 a few yrs back, which makes sense. That’s about the same time his bouts of anger started.
Susie, it sounds as though he has an issue with having turned 60 years old. He may want to give some thought as to why that might be. Were there things he’d expected to have completed by then? Things he’d hope to experience or accomplish, that he’s giving up on? Sixty is just a number, like any other; how is it different from 59, or 61?
He can figure a lot of the problem out himself, I’m sure, as long as he knows what questions to ask himself. Me, I don’t personally attach that much importance to chronological years, but I know I get very disappointed at the thought of not being able to do something because of (insert whatever age-related reason here).
I hope he figures out what’s bothering him so much, and finds a way to move past that. He could have a lot of years left; it’s best to not spend them being angry or bitter, but rather in pursuit of whatever will make him a happier or more content person.
They are the sweetest little ones. Love that darker stripped one. Very nice of you to care for mom and babies and foot the expense of nutering. Very generous of you.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! 🙂
Good one debsterwiz 😆
Didn’t see that one coming. 😆
LOL That was great!
Hilarious! Thanks Debsterwiz. I needed a good chuckle.
Adorable!
*melts* – cute overdose!
Quite a coincidence we should have multi kittens today; I was listening tothe radio on my way home from work, and they were asking what the collective term for a group of kittens was. The answer was so boring I can’t even remember it, but I vote for a fluff of kittens, or maybe a cuddle of kittens – whaddya think?
I think it depends on how many there are: For example, my foster group of 10 KITTENS are a HORDE! 😆
I like a “cuddle” of kittens!
How about a “snorgle” of kittens?
Clowder or kindle.
Personally, I think the name for a group of kittens or puppies should be a CIRCUS!
I am glad everyone is enjoying the picture of my little group. I do have a question for anyone living in the East Bay of CA. I returned the momma cat to where I found her and she is now back with the 2 other ferals in her group. All of these cats are fixed and depend on me for food, but I’m going out of town for a Breast Cancer Walk next week and do have anyone to feed them for me..
Does anyone in the group have a suggestion???
Contact alley cat allies, http://www.alleycat.org
They may have references in your area.
There are a couple Bay Area folks who post here who may have better suggestions. Good Luck!
–CA Dee–
If I had a decent running car & could afford the gas,I’d jump in a second to feed them for you.
Maybe Karin in Alameda is closer & could help?
Otherwise I agree with caroline’s suggestion.
Best of Luck & WELCOME to TDK
If you can’t get a friend or neighbor to come and feed them I would go to Walmart and get one of the 5 gallon dog waterers (they aren’t expensive) and maybe one of the hoppers that you can put a bunch of food in and put it in a sheltered place that is not really visible.
Good idea ppearson
Where are you located, CA Dee? If close enough, I would be willing to go and feed them. Lioness zero three six at yahoo dot com
**Shuttle Astronauts To Carry Lightsaber**
Original ‘Star Wars’ Prop To Be Sent Into Space
POSTED: 2:20 pm PDT August 28, 2007
HOUSTON — Astronauts on space shuttle Discovery will have a little something extra in their gear when they blast off in October: Luke Skywalker’s original Jedi lightsaber.
As part of the 30th anniversary celebration of “Star Wars,” NASA has agreed to carry the prop weapon into orbit and jettison it in space.
collectSPACE.com said the lightsaber will be handed over to the space agency by Chewbacca at the Oakland Airport, not far from George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch.
It reported the priceless piece will be greeted in Houston by a group of Stormtroopers, along with R2D2.
**Farm Makes Milk For Lactose Intolerant**
A-2 Milk Costs More Than Regular
POSTED: 11:00 am PDT August 27, 2007
OMAHA, Neb. — A Nebraska farm has made a breakthrough in providing milk for the lactose intolerant, television station KETV reported.
Studies suggest that more 30 million Americans are lactose intolerant, but some Firth, Neb., dairy farmers said they have a product that many of those people will be able to digest.
It’s called A-2 milk, and is made by special cows that produce a unique kind of protein. These cows are pinpointed through DNA testing. About 30 percent of the animals produce the protein exclusively.
The Nebraska farm is the first in the country to identify the cows, bottle and sell their milk. Hy-Vee and some other groceries stock it.
The station put it to a taste test. Several adults called it rich and sweet. Child testers also gave it a thumbs-up.
A-2 milk will cost you more. A half gallon is $3.89, as opposed to a half gallon of regular milk for $2.19. Hy-Vee dairy manager Jason Brandt said that many customers who haven’t been able to stomach regular milk are ready to pay more.
Consumer will find A-2 milk in skim and regular fat versions, and in chocolate.
We’ve has the A2 milk here for a few years but it seems to have disappeared now, or I’m just not seeing it. (Note to self, get glasses)
Boy, what a tough act to follow (Stormtroopers). I put a new photo of Hermes on his Catster page today, it’s at the bottom. All 20+ pounds of double-thick-fur purring and drooling fuzz.
Judy
Hermes is a handsome big cat!!
Hermes is one big mad looking kitty in the picture. Hugs to the big Hermes from Karin and Sylvester.
ILOVE ALL BUTEVALL
–Judy–
Is that Hermes w/other kittens,or is that Hermes w/his mommy?
Either way,I adore the smooshy,kissable faces. 🙂
Hi Susie! The one with the catpaw over the side of the box and a kitten, is Hermes as a kitten, with his mommy Alta reaching for him. I just love his little smooshy face too! He’s so cute when he’s asleep.
He is a big boy! 🙂 More to love??
OY! That’s what I tell myself when he lumbers up onto my chest in the night. 🙂
By the way, I love the sweet little siamese girlie on your catfamily page. I wish I could adopt another baby, but the man-unit sez TWO is the maximum….we have two humans in the house, and two cats. Parity is achieved.
Hi Judy! That’s what my husband said…then we met and adopted Eric, now we’ve temporarily fostered my Mum’s cat…think 4 is our limit though, at least til we get a larger house!!
My husband tried to put his foot down on 2 kitties maximum—> did you see that I have 15 living under my roof now? Granted the 10 will go off for adoption here in about 2-3 weeks. (It was easier to ask forgivness than permission) Besides, hubby and dog JOE were the only males in the house, the 2 dudes are to “level it out” 😆
Hey TDK’ers..I need some advice..? Can cats have hip problems from birth? My maskie, who is a year old now..we laughed at him at first the way he was walking..he swings his legs like hes got…yeah…and now the more i watch him..the more i wonder if hes having hip problems.. Could it be possible..?
Ontop of that..Hubby said “even if he does have hip problems, we can’t afford it” Now how rude is that? I consider maskie one of my kids..I cant just abandon him 🙁 So i’m so confused….
Maybe some Kitty Cosequin in the food?
Kitty Cosequin? I don’t understand…I’m really worried..I’m afraid what will happen to him..:( Really afraid..I got really mad at hubby..
Amanda, Cosequin is a Glucosamine/Chondroitin blend that has been flavored for use with pets. All of my cats take it as a supplement. I actually go to the drug store and get the people strength is capsule form and sprinkle a third of a capsule over 1 small can of catfood and then divide among the three cats. It is a little less expensive to do it that way than to get the cosequin from the vet (Or Drs. Foster and Smith) and because the cat food is so highly flavored they don’t miss the added flavoring. It will not only help with joint function it strengthens the bladder walls and makes them less prone to UTI’s
Amanda in IA,
Yes, cats can have hip problems and deformities or nerve and muscle damage. My Duchess walks with a limp because as a kitten she was attacked by a dog. The vet said, the dog bit into the muscle and nerves and caused some damage. There was nothing he could do at the time. He said, it would heal on it’s own to an extent. At the time, she couldn’t even use her hind legs to walk. Eventually, she healed and now just walks with a limp. I would at least take Maskie to the vet and have him examined, if you are curious about what’s wrong with him. That way you can decide from there what to do.
Agreed, agreed, agreed. You can’t really know what’s wrong without taking him to the vet. There may or may not be much that can be done about it, but your vet will be able to advise you. Your vet may indicate that chondritin/glucosamine might help (even though the condition probably isn’t arthritis). At the very least, one would hope there’d be some way one could ameliorate the discomfort, if the condition cannot be cured.
I will, Like I said, i never thought anything of it at first, the past few days i’ve been watching him more and more..its his left hip i believe that he is walking funny with.. Hes my baby boy, and i don’t want him to suffer 🙁 I really should get some pics of him up on catster along with his sister Gizmo..
Would love to see photos of both Gizmo and Maskie!

These kittens are adorable! They remind me of several of my own when they were babies.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LG! I believe you said it was the 29th?
I brought cake and ice cream for everyone to enjoy. Since I missed the breakfast buffet and it is nearing supper, I brought fresh baked ham for sandwiches, potato salad, fruit salad, baked beans and chips for the sharing circle. Enjoy!
Thanks, it’s still lunchtime here!
Sheba’s mom, you are welcome. I guess it could be a late lunch or early supper. I posted that a little after 2pm. I think there is only an hour or two time difference between me and Arizona. I know there is a 2hr. time difference between Arkansas and California.
Sheba’s mom,
Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! It was you, wasn’t it, who said you were getting married soon?
That means only the 2 orangies are left???
Lovely! All different colours 🙂
My, that is quite the variety pack of kittens!
Note to the person posting above with the cat urinating outside the box: I noticed Nora doing the same thing Sunday night, got her into the vet yesterday and sure enough it is a UTI. Don’t wait to bring in the kitty. These things can sometimes take awhile to clear up. She was due for her vaccinations too, so she had to get those as well – boy, is she grumpy today! Nibs was so cute; they never have been real “buddies” – don’t sleep together or anything – but she kept going up to Nora and giving her “nose kisses” – she knew Nora didn’t feel good and was trying to comfort her. The good news is that it is not as serious in a female cat. My Gibbie had a few bouts with crystals in the urine that completely blocked him up – scary!
Gimpy will be crowned on Friday, right? Do you get anything special, other than bragging rights? Then it is on to Bob for next month!
Those are some awfully cute kittens!
Hello, everyone! I am posting the email I received today from
Toni with BCFFA in reference to Chester’s Place. This group raised quite a bit of money for such a worthy cause! Thanks so much to everyone who made this possible.
I had trouble trying to get the photos on TDK, so I requested Kittenmaster’s assistance. Hopefully, everyone can see them shortly. The plaque is beautiful and the cattery is adorable! Chester would be very happy to see what a difference he made in the lives of so many kittens! And when you see the photos of the plaque–prepare to shed a few tears. Here’s the email from Toni…
Dee,
Pictures attached. Also sent a couple of some of our kitten in the cages directly under the plaque.
As you can see from the photos,. we have placed it on top of some of the stainless steel cages. This was the best place as far as being in full view was concerned. The walls are not conducive to holding the plaque safely and we most certainly would not want it to fall. It is secure in its present location.
Thusfar, about $800. has been received and we are most grateful. This money has helped spay and neuter many animals here.
We cannot thank you enough.
Toni
See, I told you Chester would be happy!

Wow, that is just FANTASTIC!!!!!
What a huge blessing to the kitties. I can’t wait to see the pictures. I’m sure Chester is smiling up there playing with all the kitties and giving them love.
Bless each one!
Hi Bumblrbee
How are you today?
Gremlins in the keypad!!
Hi Bumblebee!!
Thanks to Kittenmaster’s assistance, HERE IS CHESTER’S PLACE!
http://www.dailykitten.com/chesters_place/
I see Chester smiling down! This brought tears to my eyes!
Me too!! 😥 I’m sure Jerry is very proud of his “cat house” !!!!!
Beautiful… I plan to donate when finances settle… Thanks Dee, for all the work you put into this. Brings tears to my eyes.. So very happy I found this website. Thank you, too, KittenMaster !
You are welcome. I loved doing it. Jerry was a great guy and his memory deserves to live on. I’ll bet he’d laugh at all the fuss!
Did anyone else see kitty paws behind the very first pic of the plaque? But I don’t see kitty feet…
Had to go back and take a second look!
Funny Furry Friend Finding Fuzzzzzz
Or are those the feet of a stretching kitty?
Thanks, Dee for the pics. It’s every bit as beautiful as I thought it would be. Hugs and Purrs.
Thanks Dee and Kittenmaster, what a nice place.
THANK YOU DEE!! 🙂
THAT ABSOLUTLY RULES!!!!!!! Thank you to everyone involved. 🙂
YAY! How wonderful. The kitties in the cages seem to know they’re in a very special place 🙂
i love that picture….. if i could have that cat she is cute!!but i already have a dog ..that chews up cords and eat all the cat food but not her own, so ya…………………………………. I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!…. AND THAT CAT!!!!!!!!
Thank you DEE!!! You are amazing!!! Love Terri
Dee,
That is great!! Maybe one day i’ll go down to see the plaque! Or maybe we all can meet there!
ROAD TRIP!!!
who’s coming!!!
Wow-that would be a great meeting!!!
I’ll come Dorie but first need to get finances straighten so I can donate.
Has anyone looked further into starting a Paypal account that we can send money to for our “TDK Fund”?
Terri — Tiger’s mom — was going to set that up for us. She’s had a lot on her plate. I’m sure she’ll get around to it.
I’d be glad to help. Don’t you think it would be a good idea to have more than one person handling this? For instance, we set up the account, donations will be sent in (hopefully!), and we have our TDK fund. So perhaps we should have a treasurer and/or committee to decide who gets money and how much. Maybe put it out for discussion before we actually send money, just to make sure that everyone or at least most people are agreeable. And that way, more than one person will be resonsible for handling and disbursing money. Not that I think any one of us would be untrustworthy, but perhaps someone is ill, or on vacation or in some other way unable to hand the account in time of need.
Just some thoughts……………………
I agree! say a committee with a treasurer! say a committe of 5 (or more) 3 votes to help lets the money go to who needs it!!
Just an idea!!
peace
Dorie
I am an accountant and have already been asked to set up a Paypal account for the TDK family. I have done so, but need to have at least 3 others to help regulate the account. Please, if there is anyone that is willing to take on this responsibility, I would be ever so grateful for the guidance. Love to all, Terri
Hi Max and Molly’s Mom
How’s things?
I’m just fine, Dorie, thanks for asking. Hope the same is true for you.
Did we just get a solid pink background on the site? Directly underneath our comments? Looks nice!
It’s gone back to the way it was until January this year – it always used to be pink.
My memory must be gone–I don’t remember that! But, it looks very nice!
Kittenmaster thanks for the site!!
Love the pink………it frames the comments nicely.. 8)
Dee
can you please put the web site for chesters place on! I want to find out were it is and see what’s around it, as I really might visit it. I know i’ll probably come home with a new kitten!!! or 2 or 3!!
Jerry’s Place / TDK

Morganton,NC 28655
Thanks Merd
Where are you located, Dorie? Are you in North Carolina?
No I’m in Ny but my brother I just found out is only 2 hours from Morganton he’s in Rockwell and I have a sister in law in willow springs(ex sister in law) but still good friends! she’s 31/2 hours away. Both of them have been driving me crazy to come visit. I was thinking of going for winter break in February.
Here is the link for BCFFA, Dorie. I’d love to check it out some day, too. Toni’s husband, Ed, is a cruelty investigator (pic on home page). And I love how clean everything is! Toni said that she is very particular about that. They received a sterling state inspection a few months back. Nice place.

Thanks DEE!
Thank You Dee
Thank You Kittenmaster
And thank You Everyone who has been able to donate
Most of all Thank You Chester for watching over all of our babies 🙂
**anyone notice the little kitty footsies behind the plaque. How purrfect is that?
OML!!! They are all so precious. You will be blessed with many kitty angels watching over you. Thank you for saving them all from a hateful world. =)
Awwww these kitties are soooo cute I wish I could take them all home!!!
omigoodness 😀 SO CUTE! *puts them all in her pocket* Hooray for the east bay! ^_- *goes back to snorgling kittens*
Oooohhh—- Lots of smooshy kisses and tummy tickles for these sweet fuzzy-babies! I love it! 🙂
W/U with the lilac background?
Chester’s place is wonderful. It brought tears to my eyes to see it and to see how much money TDK raised. I’m glad to be part of such a good thing. Sometimes kittys walk with a limp because of how they are built–My Tessie is part Manx and her back legs are longer than her front legs. It gives her an interesting gait that worried me until I found out what it was. People still ask me what happened to your cat. busy week at work but lurking her gives me some much needed stress relief.
What a beautiful bunch of babies! Say that quickly five times!
evening y’all, just wanted to drop a quick note to say hi.
Sox’s mom how’s your english class?
well I have one last interview this friday at 10:30, if they don’t find me a good choice to their school it will be subbing for another year and hopefully a long term sub will become available.
So if all my tkd’er family/friends could send a few prayers up for me on friday i would apprecate it.
thanks.
Ange
You got it, Ange. Positive energy sending your way. Good luck.
Ange in MH, CA.
My prayers you get the job and a class of bestest students!
Peace
Dorie
Hi TDKers, KM, Alex, lurkers
TGI Hump Day!
Thank you CA Dee, for the pack of Beautiful Kits today. (And KM, too).
Each one is cuter than the next. I wouldn’t want to choose one – I’ld have to choose all!
Hugs to you Karin, Catherine, Kitty Paws, Susie and Shakira and positive energy to everyone who needs it. Group hug!!! My daughter and I live together, too. We bought our house together (she is 40), but we did set ground rules, first, some of them are still being followed and some are not. I really would like to live by myself again. Just me and the cats, and maybe one of our three dogs. It can be tough.
Welcome Lillies Momma.
Its almost 10pm here, and I’ll be here a couple more hours for anyone who wants to chat.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW all of them are so cute.
I love the black one best I m partcial to black kitties because my cat Lucky is black now with some gray at 17yrs. old.
what a gorgeous group of kittens!!! makes me reminisce about my babies…bless you for rescuing their momma and fostering them all. i hope they all get wonderful furrever homes and that they can be adopted together 🙂 they’re absolutely adorable!!!
I love pictures like these and I love the names you picked! I’d never be able to foster an animal because I’d fall in love with every one of them…
Too cute for words!! God bless you, their mom, and these babies always. 🙂
All good ideas. And yes, it does need to be governed. The committe would have to establish some guidelines — but no hard rules. I know you agree that this is about giving and helping — not about judging one another and deciding who is deserving and who is not.
Hmmmm….the above was supposed to post under the conversation about the emergency fund. Oh, well…….
it is a one chance in a million that you got this picture with all the kittens looking at the camra. It is a great picture and I think they all are beautiful, although my favorite is the light gray one. Why? Because I have one named Baby that looks just like her.
It was very easy to get a picture of all the kittens together. 🙂 Everyday I would notice the “nursery” would be really quiet and when I would open the bedroom door, there they would be, all curled up together…. They loved each other something awful..
I kept the 2 orange boys, who could resist? I find them curled up on my bed at the middle of the night, wrapped around each other… too cute..
I love this picture. I couldn’t resist posting to say what a cute group of fuzzballs. I’m glad to hear you kept two of the brood, I dont’ know if I would have been able to give any of them up. That’s why I don’t volunteer to watch over stray or work as a foster care home. I’d wind up keeping every one of them. hehehe
