Three handsome tux kits cuddled by the fire. I’m there!
What a beautiful bundle of kittens! They look so warm and cozy.
A beautiful picture for the December or January calendar. Three more of the formal attired babies are most welcome here. So precious.
Good morning TDK’ers. What a Purrfectly lovely trio of Fuzzbuts. they look so comfortable there in front of the fire.
I’m making a batch of Hot Chocolate for anyone who would like some. and yes, there are Marshmallows for those who want them… now only if someone would bring Bagels….
Ted
OK finally got my Catster Pages made for Stormy and Chessie. They kept after me to do that for them so that people could see how lovely they are.
http://www.catster.com/family/324230
They are lovely! Love the photo of them snuggled on the bed.
Morning, Greycat
Your kits are beautiful. Stormy is a great name for a Russian Blue! Have a nice weekend!
Yes, I agree. Your fur babies are lovely. Thanks for sharing with us.
Wow! What a lovely family you have. Sent a friend invite to you 🙂
Stormy reminds me of my kitty, Whiskers who also looked like a Russian Blue with amber eyes. Whiskers was only 9 lbs also. She has been gone two years to the Rainbow Bridge. Sylvester is my new buddy and is a tuxedo at about 12 lbs. He goes to the Vet on Tues for a checkup.
Welcome to catster, we just sent you guys a friend invite.
These tuxedo kitties remind me how much I miss having one in my life. They are gorgeous. Love the photo it is perfect for
a calendar!
Your kits are adorable. Chessie reminds me of my girl, Digit. Friend invite is on the way!
Beautiful kits Greycat, I sent them a friends invite. 😀
what a beauty!
or should I say beauties! 8)
Hi Greycat. Love the pics of the family. They are all so beautiful. I do so miss the Russian Blue mix that I grew up with.
Off Topic…
I was wondering if anyone has some ideas to help me. I am Sharon in Austell’s daughter.
About 4 months ago I moved myself and my 4 cats into a home with a roommate with 3 cats of his own. In the last couple of months his youngest cat (2.5 yrs) has started viciously attacking one of my cats (a rather small 10 year old). This is the only one of my cats she does this to but, Tikki is also the only cat who doesn’t fight back. Sydney, the roomies cat, will even come into my room and attack Tikki in my bed or as she hides under it. Tikki now can’t/ won’t leave the bedroom. She is losing weight and has taken many minor injuries from Sydney.
We have tried isolating Sydney in a spare bathroom for several hours at a time. We have tried physical punishment (which I don’t approve of but it is what the roomie does). I have squirted her with a water bottle, hissed at her and shaken cans of pennies (which scares my kids just as much as it does her.)
What else can I do? Oh yeah, both are female and spayed.
I have heard of people in your situation placing them together with treats, so that they associate positive things with each other. I have never tried it. Probably tough to do when you have so many cats. I am sure that if you cannot get a good answer today you can repost your question Monday. I notice much more traffic on this site on weekdays than on weekends. Best of luck to you. Sorry for your troubles.
Laura, does Chi mean Chicago? That’s where Kitten is. And that is a gret suggestion. Thank you.
“great” suggestion-bad keyboard
Yes, Chi is short for Chi-town (pronounced shy-town), which is an old nickname for Chicago. Where abouts is Kitten in Chi? I am at Irv Park Rd and Calif.
We are pretty close.
I am at North Ave and Kedzie
Do you ever have to go on vacation and have someone “cat-sit”? Next time I do I will likely try the vet tech who does it on the side (suggestion from this website, actually) but I wonder if you have other suggestions, seeing as how you are in same vicinity. I am always looking for the perfect solution. I had a friend who did it but she moved away. I wish family members were nearby. They know the cats and are so respectful of them and my junk. I guess the key is to find a person you can pay that will do it your way, then keep them forever. My mom hired someone and that perrson gave her cat meds and everything. wish they could come on vacation with, but that’s just crazy.
Kitten–you’re at North and Kedzie? I’m at Jackson and Kostner! We’re practically neighbors!
Perhaps the product Feliway might help. I have not tried it yet myself. My two females are not getting along either.
I’ll give it a shot and keep you posted. 🙂
Two weeks ago http://www.dailykitten.com/archives/958-murphy-and-molly.html#comments I asked help for almost similar problem. Read the hints addressed to Miu. I got lots of good advice that day and the next day.
I see definite improvement at my home and I hope those advice help you too.
Thank you for the link.
I am crossing my fingers that we can find something that works.
Hi Kitten, I’m sorry for your troubles. When I introduce a new cat to my house there is always a shake up in the hierarchy. From top cat on down, they reestablish. I’ve had to isolate cats for this, one of my most vulnerable, a blind, older tortie was picked on like that and reacted like that, I placed her in a room by herself. I gave her extra treats and attention and I left the rest that get along together until things settled down. I’ve had lesser squabbling cats get along after a while but you really have to watch those elder cats(as you know). I’ve heard of placing them both in a carrier at first far apart where they can see each other and giving them treats then keeping them separate until they are getting better along. I haven’t tried that one yet. There’s also feliway(sp) spray that supposedly calms cats down. But mostly it takes time. I’m sure they’ll have more info tomorrow too. Good luck!
😀
The thing that is odd to me is that the first month they all spent learning their places. Then thing were quiet for a month- month and a half. It has only been the last couple of months that Sydney has done this.
Dare I hope it is just the terrible twos and she’ll out grow it soon?
All the others still have moments of getting mouthy with each other but, on the whole it is a happy kitty house.
In my case the new introduction followed the formula: separation, Feliway, keeping in the same room under strict supervision, petting them at the same time, giving treats while letting the other one sniff, giving them lots of attention (and in my case playing practices.) Basically I’ve tried to make all the fun stuff happen when they are together.
you can try some felliway ,or take the attacking cat to a cat behavoirist to have the behavior trained out of him.
Your kids are gorgeous! We had a Russian Blue Persian named Moonshadow once -who knew full well he was the most beautiful cat in the entire world, says the hubby. He also suggests getting a litter robot if Stormy hates a used litter box. It’s a costly but wonderful device. We’re purchasing a second one with our crew expanding…
Mmmm, you just started that song by Cat Stevens going through my head “Moon Shadow”.Pretty song
We sent you an invite too. 🙂
You have beautiful babies! I admired especially that snuggle picture. Congrats for a happy family!
Sylvester just sent you a friends invite.
Good morning to all. Ted, what flavors of cream cheese should I bring with the bagels? Hopefully we can sit by the fire with Smokie, Vee and Groucho so bring them some treats.
Hi Elene-Has your son opened his new store?
Hi Teresa, thank you for asking. No but they just found a site and will sign lease next week after attorney review. His business partner more or less chose the name “The Bedroom Store”. Not catchy but they had to find a name that was available and legal, also wanted a domain name that wasn’t used. The business will be in a new little shopping area and they just broke ground, so he can’t open until September or October.
He and his fiancee will settle on their new home on Monday and will now be 10 minutes from me. This is really his big year; new house, new business and new wife all in 2007.
How exciting!! Best Wishes to him, his new wife, their new home, his new business and his wonderful Mom to a life filled with lots of love, happiness and success!
Likewise. So glad they settled on a name and if the name doesn’t glitter I’m sure their business will. Good luck to them.
How are you feeling today?
Here’s a platter of homemade bagles, real butter, cream cheeese, jams, jelleys, fruit spreads, and lox.
MMMMMM—– Plaaaater!
*she says while drooling in Homer Simpson’s voice*
YUUUMMMMM! 🙂
They are both beautiful! Basil is like Stormy with longer fur. I am partical to cats that are Russian Blues or crossbreeds. I love tuxs too. So this was a wonderful viewing to begin my day!
I love Russian Blues. We had Smog growing up and she would let me put my doll’s clothes on her and take her around the neighborhood in my stoller. Her ears sticking through the holes in the bonnet are some of our classic family photos!
I had a russian blue when I was growing up,his name was Pepper and he was the neatest cat. He was fierce though,he would actually chase dogs(large dogs) out of his yard.
I also can’t type!
Bagels, lox and butter or cream chese, and capers on their way!
I have lots of bagels! But only cheese and jalapeno flavored – Hope they’ll do!
Jalapeno bagels? Now that’s a new one. Just recently got addicted to sunflower bagels..
Thank you Greycat, I like whip cream in my hot chocolate. I have some nice biscotti to go with it and have enough to share.
I will bring the bagels! and of course cream cheese!!!
What sweet kits!
what a purrfect picture, finally getting some sunshine here after serveral days of rain my cats are “sunning” themselves
Nothing more appealing than a cat whose fur is armed by the sun. Or a cat whose fur is not, for that matter.
armed=warmed
Since I couldn’t comment above in your quest for a cat sitter….
I have a roommate and so far haven’t been gone but figure he’ll take care of my kids if I am gone. If we are both out of town at the same time…different matter.
If you’d like maybe we can grab coffee or something sometime. I’d be happy to take care of your babies should you ever need someone. And with my cats, my mom’s zoo and my time working at a vet’s office I am more than capable (and willing) to groom and pill even the most stubborn animal. 🙂 You can shoot me an email at kitten@mindspring.com and we can swap number and such….
–I love the way their whiskers stand out. And sometimes it makes it easier to see where one fuzzbutt ends & the next begins.
What a beautiful trio! So tempting to pick-up and do a group hug!
Oh ya!
thats a great idea! 🙂
those would make PERFECT christmas cards……
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Ssooooooooo Cute.
Well off to work now. Every one have a great day.
And to all those race fans. Have a safe trip if you go. lol
Good morning TDKers!
I am almost off to work too. Cooking chicken legs foir the cats right now. Gavin is sitting close to the pot waiting!!!
Have a great day everyone…..
TTYL…. 🙂
Wow, what beauties.
Smokie, Vee and Groucho together
On a chilly day with lousy weather
Are just saying “On a rotten day
When we stick together, we’re okay
But there are other kitties who have it bad
They’re left in the cold and it makes us sad.”
Oh! How sweet.
Good one. It’s really nice to have you back.
I love my cats,
There is a good-size TX contingent on this here site. I am from Houston. From where, may I ask, in Texas are you?
I guess Texans just have great taste! 😆
Ivory Bill,
I live about 60 miles north of the Dallas/Fort Worth in a small rural area. It is close to Decatur, TX if you are familiar with that area. My husband use to work in the Houston area a couple of years ago.
BRavo,BRAVO!
for some reason, your making me hungry!
Lunch isn’t until 1:00………
🙁
Great poem Ivory Bill. In my prayers every night I always say one for homeless people and animals that they might find a safe warm shelter.
As so many have said the photo would be great for a Christmas card or a calendar.
At risk of sounding political, maybe a photo of a homeless person might make a better point on a Christmas card……
Hi Ivory Bill! The TDK Bard awakes. I haven’t seen you on TDK for a while. Glad to see you back!
have we been having an invasion of the tuxedo’s in the last few weeks ???
(PS I’ll take a toasted garlic bagel smothered with cream cheese, and a hot chocolate (no marshmallows)…
I’ll have the same with some lox thrown on, please. And please pass the kitten on the right for some snuggling?
Three more beautiful fur babies to start off the day with.
Who could ask for more? Looks like a good place to snuggle on a cold winter day.
Tuxie trio! Those whiskers! Goodness they stand out.. They’re lovely! 🙂
Marx brothers FUZZ
Now its time for me to make a coherent restatement of what I tried to say last night:
Joshie has been diagnosed with too much T4 hormone (hyperthyroidism). The condition is manageable with tapazole (methimazole). The PDR makes the point that this stuff is extremely bitter, even for people. Pilling a cat is no fun time for us humans, and once they learn that this pill is bitter, it doesn’t make it any easier. There is a solution! My vet is hooked up with a veterinary pharmacist who compounds a transdermal tapazole, You just rub it on the bare skin in the little beastie’s ear and it gets absorbed. No more hassle and the cat is happy.
In my case (ok, Joshua’s case) it works great. He is sixteen going on nine now! It looks like he will be around for a while yet. I have to confess that I was at wit’s end with him (he is the all-time pill-rejecting cat, not to mention that the stuff makes him nauseous.) I don’t know if you all could tell how devoted I am to him (and I have had cats for forty years), but I was so depressed because even with all the cat who preceded him, I was dreading his departure, But it looks like he will be shredding carpets for some time to come
But the real good news is that this stuff is available in a form that the cat doesn’t hate. If you have or know of a cat who needs this medicine, try to find a vet who is hooked up with a pharmacist who will compound it. It makes med time much, much, much easier. Did I say that it makes med time much easier? I urge all of you with hypertyroid cats to go this route.
It’s very good to hear Joshie has improved so much. He has been diagnosed correctly and now has proper medical treatment. We can hear the relief in your voice. Please give him an extra smoochie for us and Mittens sends Big Purrs.
Thanks, Teresa….. we always knew the diagnosis; he just couldn’t tolerate the cure. I am just going on and on about the transdermal compound. Our previous vet never mentioned it, and I am trying to get the word out that any cat who has this condition does not have to swallow the bitter pill.
BIll…I’m surprsed your old vet never mentioned the transdermal meds! My Aria (Rainbow Bridge 2005) had the same problem–and that was the first thing the vet gave her. The vet made a strong point about “don’t touch the cream barehanded” b/c apparently it absorbs for humans just like kits–and Aria was none-too-thrilled about the spoon in her ear (he said to rub the creme in with the backside of a spoon)–but she liked it a far sight better than any pills I’d ever had to give her!
Give Joshie some major wuzzles for me and my guys, and tell him that squishy ears aren’t that bad.
My vet suggested throwaway rubber gloves…. which work fine.
Ivory Bill,
So glad that you and Joshua are back! I am happy to hear that Joshua is doing better. A sick kitty is a scary thing. I have had cats all my life, too. I like your poems, so keep ’em coming, when you can. Give Josh a hug and head scratch for me. May you both have continued good health.
Ivory Bill, I am so happy that Joshie will be okay and that you will have your special friend for many moons. Please repost the info about the medecine on Monday when more people will see it. That is a super was of medicating the little darlings.
It’s great you found a way to keep Josie both happy and healthy. It is true that for many cats (and cat people) medication is a daily nightmare.
My sister had the same problem with her cat and her vet refused to see the problem. I wish the pharmaceutical companies would put more effort in making medicines more attractive to cats (and other animals & children.) After all what’s the use of having efficient medicine if patients decline it?
PS. Scritches to Josie!
Joshie, of course.
That is wonderful news Ivory Bill! I am very glad that Joshua is doing better and will be around to shred more carpets. I understand being depressed. I watch my cat Sylvester like a hawk since my last cat died at 16 yrs 11 months of chronic kidney failure. I have noticed Sylvester losing weight and am taking him to the vet on Tuesday.
wow tux babies again
Do you still think that I’m a boy?
🙄
Nice job on the smiley, Alex. Can you tell us about your cat, Starr? When are her kittens due? What does she look like? What makes her special to you?
Alex! We’ve missed you! How was your birthday dinner at Copelands?
No, why would we think that? I know girls called Alex as well as boys. 🙂 I always wanted to be called Alex, Alexadra or something other that what my name is. No one remembers my real name cuz its weird.
Quit teasing, cookbook star! How weird can it be?
😆 You know our identies are a secret here! Cannot tell you, would have to kill you 😆
Kill me?! I’m dying just wanting to know!
Besides, I can tell you horror stories about names-like the time I spent all day waiting for a pre-natal visit because a very angry nurse kept calling out my name (but obviously couldn’t read) or my new name because my HMO data entry person doesn’t punctuate between names. 🙂
😀
Don’t tell MerD!!! I know just how you feel.! 😀
So many I want to leave messages for:
HM–how did it go Friday?
Brandi Lee–are you home yet? How are things going?
Sharon in austell–God Bless you for your rescue operation. I pray you have a safe journey this weekend.
Dee from Tampa–I took your test and was a 2% I never thought of Denmark–husband took it and he said how can you not think of Denmark. Now he has conformation I am strange in thinking.
Ivory Bill–So Happy to hear about Joshua! I love Chaucer he pointed out so many of societies ills–so many literary greats do!
FondaHonda–Thank you so much. I love working with older kids! I agree there is nothing better than teaching. Have to love it because you will never make a bunch of money. The rewards are so much better though. Kind of like the love of a cat!
I feel so special! 😀
I’d much rather have a job I enjoy going to everyday than a bunch of money and I job I can’t stand!
exactly! 🙂
But I would really love to do Both, have my cake and eat it too! 😀
Me too, but in this time and place high school teachers get paid very little. It is easy to put in a 60-80 hour work week (especially when grading essays) and the pay is little. Then everyone says–you get summers off. That is when most teachers have to put in there continuing education hours. You really have to love it to do it and stick with it. Statisics are showing most that enter the profession are out in 5 years. After 11 years in preschool I am so happy to be with the older kids. A few that I went to school with have quit a year later. You have to love what you do and boy wouldn’t it be nice to have a paycheck that reflects the work. Then again I just saw a student that I mentored 4 years ago, and she ran over my husband to get to me to tell me her grades. That was worth any money I will ever make!
KUDOS TO ALL TEACHERS! That is a job I could never do!
I agree FondaHonda. I so wanted to work as an Admin Assistant for the SF Giants but couldn’t afford to live on $35k a year when in the San Francisco Bay Area you need to be making at least $60k to afford an apartment and all. I also saw an ad for working in a boarding place for cats only but they only pay $10/hr and cannot afford that either. So I only hope I can find a job that pays decent and I like to work at.
Hi Sox’s Mom.
Thanks for the well-wishes on the rescue, but when we called last night to offer splitting the last three legs two ways we were told it was all filled up! Color us disappointed, but this was a divided trip we’re told, because there were so many kits being transported. Maybe next weekend.
Update on Bo-he’s mellowing out somewhat with our dog and bravely sat 3 feet away from him last night. Good boy!
Ivory Bill, aren’t you just a wonder? Medicine in an ointment! Love it!
If anyone can reply to my kid above, Kitten, she has a dilemma with her roomie’s cat. We’re talking extreme measures like electric collars to bringing her back from mommy in Chicago to live with the g-parents again. Any ideas are welcome.
HM-waiting to hear something-anything.
I’m no expert on cat behavior, but could there be a health issue with Sydney that could be checked out by a vet? Did anything happen two months ago that triggered this behavior? What puzzling creatures cats are!
That’s a thought. They all moved from Atlanta to Chicago just before New Year’s and then his girls went into heat. They were all spayed at the same time. Since then they’re establishing their dynamic. This is just a bit out of hand. But back to the vet may be the thing. Do they make kitt prozac? 🙂
They do make prozac for animals–it works too.
Sharon I think that HM won’t be here until Monday.
I wish I knew what to do with the cats. Teaser will not tolerate another female–we can’t do it. She deals with males, but not females. We were trying to rescue one of Sox’s sisters, and Teaser wasn’t allowing it. She went to another family, and they put her outside again. She was caught by our pound and was put down. Our pound is a kill shelter. 72 hours and they are gone. If they appear sick they put them down sooner. We have a cat sanctuary that has been constructed and now actively working to get the cats from the pound. Dogs fare better but not much. Maybe these two might have to be split up for good–if for no other reason when a cat starts losing weight it is serious. Has she tried feeding them together? Food could bond them. It is worth a try. I will pray that this works out soon–for the cats and their pets (those pesky humans).
Oh I am so sorry Sox’s Mom about Teaser. That shelter is way to eager to kill the animals. Sounds like they need more room or do they just not care? I am sorry for you. Hugs and purrs sent your way.
We have Teaser we coudn’t take Sox’s sister–Tease would have eaten her. Sox’s sister ended up being destroyed as were all his siblings. In hind sight maybe it was better. They didn’t end up like him. Feline Leukemia is a horrific way to die. We know Basil’s time will come too but for now he is not symptomatic.
We used to feed them their canned dinner together but it got to be too much of the bigger kids pushing the smaller kids out of their food.
The roomie and I both keep water and dry fod in our rooms and his cats are constantly in my room eating. (I have an automatic feeder and he feeds his in a small dish once a day do they tend to run out.)
WITH 3 SWEETIES LIKE THESE, I WOULD GET THE FIRE GOING TODAY EVEN THO IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE LOW 70’S HERE.
It is an absolutly BEAUTIFUL day! Gonna go watch my 11yo daughter play soccer in Castle Rock. Great day to be outside! 🙂
MY HUSBAND AND I ARE JUST TRYING TO ENJOY THE LAST WEEKEND OF PEACE AND QUIET UNTIL THE COLLEGE KID GETS BACK NEXT WEEKEND! HOPE YOUR DAUGHTERS TEAM WINS!
YAH! 1-0 we win.
A week of multiples! More for your viewing pleasure!! These are just beautiful babies!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Dearest Catrancher,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that so much love and prayers are sent your way during this time. I wish there were words that could help with the pain, but I don’t know them. All I can say is that there are so many that love you and are lifting you up–you are not alone.
Oh, Catrancher…
I have been catching up on all that I have missed whilst I was “walkabout”.
My heart goes out to you, It is obvious from your writings that your mother was a heckuva mom and was dearly loved. I wish you comfort and healing.
Ivory,
whatever you say seems so mystical. I’m not being sarcastic- are you a poet? you are really good at it……. 8o
are you a poet?-really! 🙂
Any one can write poetry,
So I say why
don’t you give it a try!
You might be a poet
and not even know it!
🙂
OK so I am not a good poet, but at least I try! 😆
I book specialty appts for Kaiser Permanente in Ga-Behavioral Health and Dermatology, but still have to do routine stuff like colds, pediatrics, annual physicals, transferring calls, etc.
Hubby designs training materials. We come from a long line of teachers and were headed that way, but dirty politics convinced us to get out. Loved the kids, though, so we opened our doors to a bunch of kids over the years.
That is the only thing I hate–the politics! I just want to teach. I have no problem with continuing education classes and committees–but not at the expense of doing the job. Some days the paperwork is overwhelming. It sould be about the kids sometimes it isn’t.
We are all poets. It’s just a matter of putting how our insides feel down on paper. I am a network engineer.
Now that I have shared, tell me/us what you do when you’re not admiring the cat=flesh on TDK.
I am trying to land an administrative job with Merrill Lynch or UC Berkeley at the moment. Anyone else?
I’ve spent the last 30 years in the legal profession.
I’m a nurse,currently in between jobs. 🙁
I work in IT, and will be done with my MBA in 7 weeks (has taken 3 years).
shipping clerk at a distribution center
I was an design consultant with Ethan Allen. Two years before the auto collision I also started my own business “Moving by Design” helping people move from large homes to small retirement spaces. All gone now 😥 but now I have my 17 furrbabes. 🙂
Worked in the Chemical industry for an international company for the last 30 years. Did customer service, import / exporting and marketing. I’m retired now and oh so happy to be out of the rat race!
I’m in IT, back after a nearly 6-month bout of unemployment, and SO glad to be there I can’t even explain it.
Research on color vision using fruit flies, and eye regeneration on 13 lined ground squirrels. Love my job, just wish I made a living wage doing it.
I own a video store. One of the few ma and pa (as they put it) that is not ran by a franchise. Been doing it for 14 years now.
I wish I had those guys to cuddle with and keep me warm. Such a handsome bunch!
hope they dont burn up all that lovely fur. 🙂 🙂 🙂 😀 😛
they would never do that of course…….
🙂
but maybe they should get closer to the camera- just in case…..
😉
Oh my! Those are 3 lovely tuxedo babies. I’d love to snuggle by the fire with them,a mug of hot cocoa(yes to marshmellows) and a good book. 8)
I’d just LOVE to do that! 🙂
Smokie, Vee and Groucho are so cute and adorable. Such a sweet picture. The pic would make a great christmas card.
I brought some apple cinnamon muffins and hot cider, help yourselves.
A person of my own heart! I love hot cider, and on occassion hot spiced wine!
Today’s kits are beautiful. Very striking and different whisker arrays!!
I like the matching eyes, noses, whisker pouches, and chins. Cute cute cute.
What a sweet bunch! One just has to love tuxedo kitties.
OMG!!! Triple FUZZ!!! These are adorable! I fee like I’m seeing my kitty X3!!!
I just wanted to say that when the subject turned to ants the other day, that I use a Pest Offense and have for several years. I won’t say it’s 100%, but I will say it happens few and far between with the ants, etc. And there are no chemicals.
just in case you haven’t seen my other posts ,we have 2 little tux orphaned baby girls and a new baby turkish angora baby boy born here on 4-18-07,you can see him by clicking on my name.
Snowball is beautiful!
Shadow is so beautiful. Like my Sox. Sox had a white tip on the end of his tail–we called it his fishing lure. He would sit on the fish tank and his tail would twitch and the fish followed it. The kittens are adorable too!
Good afternoon all!! I love these 3 tuxedo babies – especially groucho. What is it about cats and fireplaces. My boys jockey for position every time I have it going and then they just crap out and go to sleep anyway.
Hope everybody is have a great Saturday, I just bought my birthday present (my birthday is still a couple of weeks off, but I can’t pass this up) – yes it’s a saxophone. I can’t wait for it to get here.
If anybody is wondering, my MRI was pretty weird. The noise it was making made me feel like I was at a rave or something. I kept singing melodies in my head that would fit the noises. Anyway, I won’t find out anything until next week. The strange part was after I had the MRI I was getting dressed and they came and stopped me and wanted X-Rays too. Hmmmmm.
Ok, gotta run – take care everybody.
I’ll keep you in my prayers for good results from the MRI and x-rays. Gentle head bonks and purrs from Digit and Furl.
Funny you should compare it to a rave! I was dancing in my mind. Did they plug your ears and put on a helmet? Please keep us posted. Have a great day!
Good thoughts going your way, HM. Hope the results are favorable. Never had an MRI, feel I would be claustrophobic! Good to hear that “music” is “playing”. Missed your backpack yesterday!
Didn’t expect to see you today but I am glad you were here. Perhaps they are just being cautious? Good thoughts only!
Positive thoughts coming your way, HM. Hope everything works out. That is so cool that you were so relaxed in the MRI machine that you were singing in your head.
when is your b-day? mine is in a couple of weeks also and I too just bought my own birthday present, happy birthday to me…… happy birthday to me….
Good for you! I firmly believe in getting a gift for your self, especially at Christmas!
Happy Birthday early. What did you buy yourself?
http://i3.ebayimg.com/01/i/04/48/7f/f3_10.JPG
here we go
Alright, Lisa Simpson!
lisa is SO me!!!!! I’ve already figured out 10 of her solos!!
A very fantastic birthday to all of you Taureans. You are very special, indeed! My kid, Kitten, just had a birthday on the 26th. Bought her the Horrorfest movies that are out. yech.
5/15
I’m looking for more gifts to buy myself. It’s gotta be something musical. I’ve already exhausted the clothing stores online. 🙂
MRI’s are extremely noisy but you really can find a beat. The nice thing is they tell you how long each phase will take, like 3 minutes or 6 minutes and so on. When you know a ending time it makes each phase easier to tolerate. Also if you ever have to have a MRI, and especially if you are tall, have them put you in feet first. Makes it so much easier to stay calm.
Huddy’s Mama, don’t read anything into the X-ray afterwards. X-rays will pick up some things better than an MRI. Just think, in one week your waiting for answers will be over. Much easier to deal with any problem when you have the facts.
I’ll try not to. I wish they would just fix it and be DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am no doctor, but I do know that the ole-timey x-ray shows different stuff from an MRI. So I wouldn’t worry about > too much.
On the other hand, a saxophone? Were there lots of nice men in white suits? :-)….
I’m sure all is fine, but best of luck anyway!
Welllll I thought it was kinda weird that they would stop me from dressing.
Yeah, a saxophone. I’ve dreamed about it, I have to play it. No, there was just one really nice looking guy in black – lol
Girl, I know this isn’t a funny situation, but that is so funny that you found the beat while in a serious situation! I do that too! Do know that hopes and prayers are being sent and keep up the good spirits and positive attitude! 🙂
No it IS funny in a way. EVERYBODY told me to drink the coffee and Baileys and take the human ‘nip’. I didnt’ do either one.
Still though, when the MRI went to the beat. I moved my feet. And got into trouble for THAT too.
Had to hold still, huh? Oh, well, the coffee and Baileys can wait until you get back home. And since they already did the x-rays, they won’t tell you to come back again after the MRI’s all said and done! 😀
Today is Keep Our Pets Safe Day.

Would you use the Feliway here to help them through that? I am not sure how you would use the product, which is why I have not bought it yet.

Cat’s Tongues (Lingue di Gato)
By Mary Ann Esposito
Makes about 3 1/2 dozen
There are many versions of lingue di gatto, but this remains my favorite. It is a very versatile cookie that looks like a ladyfinger or, by a short stretch of the imagination, a tongue. Serve them as is, or frost the tops with a thin glaze of bittersweet chocolate. Or sandwich them together with chocolate and a smidge of jam, or just with jam alone.
14 tablespoons (1 3/4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups King Arthurâ„¢ Unbleached, All-Purpose Flour, sifted
3 large egg whites, at room temperature
OPTIONAL GLAZE
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
Preheat the oven to 450º and position the racks in the center and upper part of the oven. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper, or lightly butter and flour them. In a bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Gradually beat in the flour, a few spoonfuls at a time.
In a clean bowl, with clean beaters, beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry peaks form. Fold the whites into the butter mixture, taking care not to deflate the whites.
Fill a pastry bag fitted with a 1/2-inch plain tip with the batter and pipe out 3-inch-long cookies on the cookie sheets, spacing them 1 inch apart.
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, rotating the sheets once, until the cookies are firm to the touch but still pale and only very lightly browned around the edges. Remove them to cooling racks.
If making the glaze, bring 2 cups of water to a simmer in the base of a double boiler. Turn off the heat. Place the chocolate in the top of the double boiler and let sit, stirring occasionally, until it melts.
Spread the tops of the cookies with a thin layer of glaze, and let it set. Or use the glaze to sandwich the cookies.

What a bunch of cuties! Don’t need hot chocolate here, it’s going into the upper 90’s today! Yeah, I know it’s a DRY heat, but so’s an oven! On days like today I wish I was back on Long Island.
Where are you at Shebas Mom? I am in the San Francisco Bay Area and we are at a nice 76 degrees with a nice ocean breeze.

Tuxies rock! They have some fabulous whiskers! I also love the black nose set in that picture. I just wish I could peek on their paw pads:pink, black or mixed? I would kiss them all and give them a big group hug.
Happy kittens playing and sleeping near the fire place – that would make a winter day purrfect.
FDA agents raid pet food plant, offices
By ANDREW BRIDGES, Associated Press Writer Sat Apr 28, 12:20 AM ET
WASHINGTON – Federal agents searched facilities of a dog and cat food manufacturer and one of its suppliers as part of an investigation into the widening recall of pet products, the companies disclosed Friday.
Food and Drug Administration officials searched an Emporia, Kan., pet food plant operated by Menu Foods and the Las Vegas offices of ChemNutra Inc., according to the companies.
Menu Foods made many of the more than 100 brands of pet food recalled since March 16 because of contamination by the chemical melamine. ChemNutra supplied the manufacturer with wheat gluten, one of the two ingredients tainted by melamine used in recalled pet products. Both companies said they were cooperating with the investigation.
Menu Foods also said the U.S. Attorney’s offices in Kansas and the western district of Missouri have targeted the company as part of misdemeanor investigations into whether it violated the federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. The sale of adulterated food is a misdemeanor.
The FDA also is looking at all other ingredients imported by ChemNutra, and trying to reconcile what it imported with what it supplied to customers, said agency spokeswoman Julie Zawisza.
Import records obtained by The Associated Press show that since May 2006 alone ChemNutra also imported 440,000 pounds of the second suspect pet food ingredient, rice protein concentrate, from the same Chinese trading agent that handled exports of the tainted wheat gluten.
It’s unknown if ChemNutra’s rice protein concentrate was contaminated. Limited testing suggests it wasn’t. However, another company’s imports of that same ingredient, albeit from a different source, have been found to be tainted.
Ten of the 11 containers of rice protein concentrate imported by ChemNutra over the last year went to undisclosed pet food companies, spokesman Steve Stern said. The 11th is under quarantine and being tested. But just one of the other 10 is known to have been tested; results from those tests, done last week, showed it was not contaminated, Stern said.
The origin within China of the wheat gluten and rice protein concentrate remains murky. For example, ChemNutra’s source for the two vegetable proteins, Suzhou Textile Import and Export Co., told The AP that food ingredients aren’t part of its business — but that employees often take on side deals. Stern said ChemNutra dealt with the company’s president.
The FDA has blocked wheat gluten imports from a second Chinese company, Xuzhou Anying Biologic Technology Development Co. That company has told AP it bought the ingredient from other undisclosed firms and then sold it to Suzhou Textile.
Meanwhile, rice protein concentrate imported by the second company, Wilbur-Ellis Co., has tested positive for melamine. It came from a different Chinese source, Futian Biology Technology Co. Ltd.
Last week, the FDA blocked rice protein concentrates from that source. On Friday, American Nutrition Inc. became the final of five pet food companies that Wilbur-Ellis supplied with the tainted ingredient to recall a variety of products.
The products recalled were manufactured by American Nutrition for other independent companies, and American Nutrition brands were not part of the recall, the company said in a statement.
Several of the companies recalling food said in statements on their Web sites that American Nutrition added the rice protein concentrate to their products without their knowledge or approval.
American Nutrition said Friday it did not engage in any deliberately deceitful or unlawful conduct.
The company said rice protein is considered a healthy additive in pet food often used to increase protein levels without adding higher levels of fat.
“Those customers (with recalled products) specifically required rice-based formulations, which necessitated certain fortifications to meet label guarantees,” the company said in a statement.
An unknown number of dogs and cats have been sickened or died after eating chemical-laced pet food.
Menu Foods said it faces more than 50 lawsuits. It in turn has sued ChemNutra.
Thanks for posting! Every news about tainted food is welcome!
Thanks for posting, Joan! We all worry about our little creatures. All information about this horrible situation is greatly appreciated.

ILoveMyCats from TX…..I hope you see this…..I made your 5 Flavor Pound Cake yesterday…It is WONDERFUL!!!! Even my husband said it was the best he has ever had….because it was moist and had “flavor”. Hope it freezes well…it’s a very large cake!! Thanks for sharing.
I am so glad that you and your husband enjoyed the cake. It is one of my favorites. I make a Cream Cheese Pound Cake also but I think this one is by far the better cake. I have never frozen it (cause we are little pigs and eat it all haha) so I can’t help you on that. I do know that the longer it sits it gets even moister.
Thanks to you both-for the recipe , review, and tips. It’s my turn tomorrow-I’ve got people at work eagerly waiting to try it.

Hmmm, job is currently working as a Radio Dispatcher for U.S. Border Patrol (aka telling agents where to go & getting paid for it), previously worked 911/EMS Dispatch for both a County Sheriff and City Police, this was all after retiring from Army. So besides telling lots of men & women where to go, them not listening of course unless they feel like it (lol), I take care of the horde living with me and fortunate enough to have very good adult children and friends. And last but not least in any way shape or form, love to be reading TDK daily!

Such beautiful little tux babies! May the Lord bless you and them always. 🙂
