Mr Whiskers
Mr. Whiskers was brought into the animal clinic where I work when he was 10 days old. I immediately took him in and with the help of my mom hand-raised him. He suffered from Hydracephalus (water on the brain) and at three weeks old, all his hair fell out. This picture was taken a few days after that. He is now the most beauiful long-haired kitty I’ve ever seen and he brings the term “babied” to a whole other level!

Thanks, Dee! That’s what I feed my cats — wet packets and dry kibble. Coupons help! After trying MANY premium brands, my one “sensitive stomach” boy, Freddy, did well with Nutro Natural Choice and all my kitties seem to do well with it. Although they only like the lamb formula…no fish mixes! In answer to yesterday’s question about the new camera angle on EagleCam..it is disappointing, most times I can’t tell what I’m looking at…
I would also like to see current pictures. A potentially sad weepy story has turned into a happy weepy story! Hooray!

If your cat snores or rolls over on his back to expose his belly, it means he trusts you.
Cats respond better to women than to men, probably due to the fact that women’s voices have a higher pitch.
In an average year, cat owners in the United States spend over $2 billion on cat food.
According to a Gallup poll, most American pet owners obtain their cats by adopting strays.
When your cats rubs up against you, she is actually marking you as “hers” with her scent. If your cat pushes his face against your head, it is a sign of acceptance and affection.
Contrary to popular belief, people are not allergic to cat fur, dander, saliva, or urine – they are allergic to “sebum,” a fatty substance secreted by the cat’s sebaceous glands. More interesting, someone who is allergic to one cat may not be allergic to another cat. One day a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven. There he meets the Lord Himself. The Lord says to the cat, “You lived a good life and if there is any way I can make your stay in Heaven more comfortable, please let Me know.”
The cat thinks for a moment and says, “Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor.” The Lord stops the cat and says, “Say no more,” and a wonderful fluffy pillow appears.
A few days later, six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident and go to heaven. Again, the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer.
The mice answered, “All of our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs and even women with brooms. Running, running, running; we’re tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so we don’t have to run anymore?” The Lord says, “Say no more,” and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates.
About a week later the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, “How are things since you got here?”
The cat stretches and yawns and replies, “It is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those ‘Meals On Wheels’ you’ve been sending by are the best!”

Yes I do, Caroline. I’m currently in Russia, and the kids are taking a nap. They are very precious and loved very much by my wife & I.

i recently lost my “baby”, but his big brother is helping me get through the loss. and soon, he’ll have another baby brother/sister to play with.

And Rose, I think Thomas and T are the same person. I also think he’s just misinformed about declawing. I have had 3 cats so far in my life, *but* none have ever been declawed. I didn’t see the point in disfiguring any of them. I am happy to say all 3 were easily trained to use their scratching posts. The furniture has survived and is in the same condition as when I 1st got it. If Thomas never had cats before, someone may have told him it was necessary to declaw them. He wouldn’t have had any experience to guide him. Hopefully we have helped him and others like him understand cats don’t need to be declawed.
Cathi, I firmly believe Thomas who signs his posts with “T” IS NOT THE MISINFORMED (to use a better adjective than what I would like to use!) Thomas re: mutilations.
The Kind Thomas – “T” – posts appear last or near to last, so sometimes you have to go back to the previous TDK to see them. The writing style is COMPLETELY different…hope this helps…I’ve e-mailed “T”, and he has a Good Soul.
I went back and read what the mutilator wrote and I am sorry for thinking the 2 Thomas’s were ever the same person. You are definitely right when you say they have different writing styles! I stand corrected.

Its so nice to hear of soemone caring enough for an animal like that. I’m so sorry to hear about his condition. I hope things are getting better both for Mr. Whiskers and yourself. About 4 years ago I adopted a very tiny malnutritioned kitten that appeared to have been inbred as she has only one eye. Now, 4 years later she’s super chubby and happy and has a nearly 2 year old son whom is also deformed, having just two toes on his right front paw. Nunzia and Fred are the best things to happen to our lives.

Isnt it wonderful raising a baby with no mommy. I work at an animal shelter and have 4 babies I and my other half are hand feeding. they purr when we feed them it is so sweet. God bless you and your very special wee one : )

Hello everyone, this is Mr. Whiskers mommy here… he has indeed grown to be very handsome. I’m working on getting a pic on the computer of him and then I will somehow link it so you can all see it! His favourite past times are sleeping, eating, sleeping, eating yes eating catnip, and sleeping. Right noe he is curled up in a box that is way too tiny for him with his head squished in the bottom. Thanks to all the kind words about my baby. I recently had three more foster cases and all of them have gone on to loving homes, the last this past Sunday. 🙂

Thats a really amazing story! Im glad he survived and hes healthy now!! I am trying to help a 2 and a half week old kitten who is really malnutritioned. We are trying everything and I just hope hes going to be ok. Im goign to the pet store tonight to get him a bottle and everything he needs to be healthy. It makes me feel so happy that I can actually help save a baby kittens life. I hope it works!
