I found Tweak at the mall pet store and couldn’t resist taking her home with me. She’s about twelve weeks old now, and as it turns out she has the features of a siamese, but the markings of a tabby, along with some cream-colored patches on her back that scream “calico.” She’s very active, loves three-in-the-morning chats, and, as you can see, is very trusting when it comes to her belly. She loves to have it rubbed almost as much as her pal, a golden lab.

Fuzzy Kitty Belly!
Is she asleep there or just in full belly rub mode? I’ve seen cats that fall asleep on their backs like that, just sprawled out.
She’s sleeping right there. She still does it, too.
I guess she just got done w/a belly rub. She is definately smiling. My Sammie girl, a dog, but a cat at heart!, is too funny when she smiles! One side of her lip goes up so you can see her teeth when she smiles! She does it when she’s really excited to see someone. My Marley kitty loves to have his tummy rubbed too. But forget it w/Emma, she attacks! I guess I shouldn’t say attacks. She doesn’t hurt me, but you know what I mean. She lets me know…Stop!

Yesterday Dee started us introducing our four-foot gangs. Mine is three souls strong. Shep is an Australian Shepherd(Paul named him), 12 years old, and a sweet goofball. He lives for cookies, ball games and the chance to plant a big sloppy kiss on Flumpy! Flumpy is because he does. You really know it when he settles down at night. He is almost 9, and 16 lbs. of very fluffy tuxedo cat. Little Miss Meowmepurr herownself, is 4-1/2, a short haired tuxedo, and weighs in at a whopping 5 lbs! 16 lbs! He’s enormous! Does the little cat tease him? 12 years old is pretty old for an australian shepherd, isn’t it?
16 pounds isn’t even close to the heaviest in the world. That’s held by a 45 pounder! :-O
Meowmepurr is 4 1/2 weeks, right?! Not years. Right? My Emma is petite and done growing. She weighs in at 8 lbs & 11 oz. She’s a DSH tuxedo too!! Meow’s Mom!, I need a picture! lol …of Flumpy too! By the way, we love your stories!

My parents when I was at home used to raise Aussie’s!! They are great dogs. Intelligent, loyal and full of energy! I would love to have another. Have you ever seen a curly coated Aussie? My sister had a curly red merle Aussie named Starbright. She was the only curly I’ve ever seen.
No, Meepsie is 4-1/2 YEARS old. She just acts like a kitten. She was about 4 weeks old and 12 ounces when she came to me.
We spend a lot of time laughing at the cats. Meepsie “woves her Fwumpy” and he thinks she is the cutest thing.
she steals his treats(The Paw at work), and attacks the tail–not very often any more. Flumpy protects her from The Dog–who still wants just one small Taste!!
Yes, 12 is old for an Aussie, and Shep is beginning to show it. He is a beautiful Blue Merle; and no, I’ve never seen a curly-coated Aussie.

I had a FLUMPY too! Her name was originally Fuzzy but as she grew so too did her sound effects, when she would lay down it was a tremendous FLUMP! She was the best cat. A big FlumpFuzz for all those who’s names are also sounds!
Hello Ms Meowmepurr, You’ve caused me to add a comment for the first time as I want to know more about your 5 lb kitty. I have a 5 lb kitty, too. She is now 5 years old, was the runt of the litter, born in my garage to a feral. (I did trap mommacat and have had her spayed and now she’s quite fat and happy living outside.) My Polly though began having seizures at about 5 months old. We do not know why. She is on medication, but still has seizures about once a week.
For Dee: I have had kitties all my life, living in Los Angeles, CA, and now I live just a bit east in Duarte, CA. I currently have Cleo, 17 years old, black and fluffy and quite frail now. Bobby, 13 years old, gray and fluffy and 14 lbs. Polly, 5 years old, who I wrote about above and my new kitty is Lucas, 6 months old, solid black and beautiful and I think he’s going to be big! He was a feral I trapped in the church parking lot across the street from me when he was about 7 weeks old. Bobby has been like a wonderful surrogate father to him.
I so enjoy reading all the comments and looking at the great kitty pictures. Finding other cat lovers is the best!

Alicia—-my Juliet weighed 6 pounds throughout her life—she lived just past her 19th birthday—usually the “slimmer” cats live longer—just like with humans, I guess. So, I should probably put my current “morbidly obese” cat on a diet, eh?? (Can we use the term morbidly obese, *Bagheera*?
Well, it’s not “nice”, but it’s not as bad.
That is great news to me. My Skimo weighs under 6 pounds. She is 15 now and the absolute LOVE of my life.
I used to live near you quite a few years back. I used to live in Temple City. I have a Cleo too but she is just about nine months old. She is our newest addition to the family. Casper is the only one of our senior citizens that will play with her. Our three other cats are all around eleven years old

Kitties sure are funny with eachother. I always wish I could just tell them, now this is your new kitten, be nice. But, boy, they sure can be rough with one another! They all hissed at Lucas when I 1st got him. And even though, Bobby is great with him now, when I bring Lucas home from the Vet, he hisses at him again for at least a day.
One of my 5 cats, Jake, began having seizures when he was 3 years old. For the next 3 years I fought with him twice a day to take his medication, and the seizures only happened about once a mont, until about a week after I stopped feeding my cats any kind of canned cat food. My vet said that he may have been sensitive to something in the food. Keep working with your vet to control the seizures & keep him safe when they happen.
Jake is now 15 years old & 9 1/2 lbs. Shady is 16 years old and 8 1/2 lbs. Sterling, my Maine Coon, is 6 years old and a whopping 20 lbs, though the vet says he’s underweight for his frame. Then I have 2 girls, Ebony, a shiny coal-black long hair at 9 lbs, and her sister, Tippy, a short haired tortie who tips the scales at 15 lbs.

My Domino was 22lbs of romping and stomping tuxedo kitty. He loved sleeping on my feet which pretty much pinned me in place. Taffy liked to snooze on my hip he was only 7lbs he was a taffy colored Tabby.
Today’s kitty is so sweet looking a real love bug.
What a healthy girl! I wish my cats would let me rub their bellies—when I try to do that, they start doing that weird “bicycle” thing with their hind legs on my hand!
Maybe they are tickelish?
Mine will do that sometimes too, if I get the wrong spot. 🙂

As a Canadian and animal lover, I am horrified at this annual slaughter.
I went on the hsus site yesterday and forwarded my letter. I have seen pictures before of them doing their evil deed and it actually upset my stomach. I am just grateful that there are so many of you out there reaching out to preserve these kittens and puppies and saving them. Hope that someday those beautiful seal pups will have their lives preserved.

All cats need their bellies rubbed regularly to stimulate their cuteness organ.
Of course, a real expert knows that blowing raspberries on a cats belly (with eyes closed to retain rubber’s eyesight) is particularly effective!

Our 3 (Maddie, Kona, Wiley) can all handle short bits of belly rubbing. I had one cat when I was younger, though, who would stop you short if you tried to rub her tummy. Some seem to like it and some don’t, I guess.
I don’t know if it’s a security/safe thing, or if it’s over-stimulation.
I’ll come back and check on Tweak all day long today!

Garielle, Casper, Jake, and Spot. Gabrielle is 10 looks like 4 (very samll) and a big ball o’ fluff. Doesn’t care too much for people. Casper is 9 domestic shorthair (orange, grey, white) Likes to attack people (play) Jake is 5 black and white. He loves me and not too many others. Spot was on Kat1’s site. He is white with a black tail and spot on his back. (little dab of black on nose) He loves everyone. They are all basic domestic shorthair. They were all saved from going to the shelter.
I forgot again. Jake and Spot are littermates.
Danielle—-so you have every possible color of cat hair on your clothes–just like me, eh??
I know tell me about it. If we put anything on the back of the couch forget it in the am its a ball of furr. Well what ever the kitties want they get. Its all good. My Spot loves the car (prefers not in motion) my whole car is covered.

Our spherical tabby Daisy also lays around waiting for someone to rub her tummy. She’s so indecent she’ll just come and lay down next to you, and then roll over and expose her voluminous tummy and wait!

We used to have a Himalayan (much beloved and missed) who would do that too, she just looked like a huge shag carpet.

what everyone doesn’t know is that Tweak’s pic here is actually sideways. you are supposed to look at it with your head tilted to the right. Then you can see that what she’s doing is giving a Karate demonstration.
*KUNG FU KITTY* Fuzz
My Buzz is almost 2 now, and a gorgeous, stupid little Bombay. He is the most beautiful and affectionate cat I have ever seen, but he truly has the IQ of coleslaw. He recently went through a phase where he was rediscovering the ceiling every once in a while, and it just scared him to death every time. He likes his belly rubbed too–when we get home from work, he’ll go running ahead of us into the bedroom, and just up on the bed and flop over like a big black fish to get his rubbing.
Nyx is a few months younger, but much smaller, b/c she’s a runt, so she’s only about 8-9 lbs. She’s MUCH smarter than Buzz, and she knows it. If they are chasing around the house, she’ll turn around and run right under him, through his legs, and he has no idea where she’s gone. We can only rub her belly if we wake her up to do it. They are both rescue kitties, but she still remembers being hungry, so she’s more skittish with people, but very affectionate when she first wakes up.
My spot is the same way. Cole slaw would be smarter.
OK, your kitty may be “unintelligently inclined”, but we DO NOT call ANY kitties Stupid here at TDK, even if it is our own. We don’t tolerate that kind of talk. ADD, not-too-smart, whatever. NOT stupid.
I think he acts stupid when he’s really smart to act that way. He does it on purpose. He knows how to get what he wants.

And Danielle, I don’t think he’s just playing dumb…he broke a tooth recently from his habit of chewing on our steel space heater, poor little guy.
I don’t know what it is with him and that heater. A few days ago, he was sitting there behind it, and he kept touching his paw to the hot metal, just very gingerly as if testing the temperature, until he finally just laid his paw flat on it for a moment. At which point, of course, he jerked it back and started shaking it, “Ouch! That’s hot!” Then he wandered off only to come back a minute later looking at us as if to say, “I don’t suppose any of you know why my paw hurts, do you?”
OMG that is too funny mabe he is just missing a couple marbles. I would love to see that. The poor kitty.
Oh yes, all of our friends just adore him, because he’s so much fun to be around. His antics are too funny, and he LOVES everyone. No person is a threat to him (except the UPS guy, for reasons we may never know), we are all just sources of food and rubs. One of my girlfriends from work came to my neighborhood Halloween party with us this year, and her costume had a big, long, white train on it. The very first thing Buzz did when he spotted her was roll over onto her train and flail his little black body all over it in ecstasy. He pretty much treats everyone like this, whether or not he has met them before, so everyone falls in love with him.
I was just thinking people (of all ages) do the same thing. “When I poke this it hurts” “Well stop poknig it” I’ve been a victim of that numerous times myself.
I love Buzz already. He’s my kind of cat!

Oh! My hand is reaching toward the screen to pet that tummy! My kitty loves belly-rubs, too…and that’s where the softest fur is.
Love little tweaky. What a sweetie. Casper doesn’t like his belly rubbed, neither does Patches. Cleo and Gizmo likes theirs rubbed. Funny how some like it and others don’t. Guess it’s just the personality. I have a dog Amber that won’t let me quit, she’s always laying over on her back.
Whew..I’m glad that my cats are not the only ones who hate having their bellies rubbed….I was beginning to think they hated me! Every dog I’ve had has loved belly rubs—but I think dogs are much easier to please. I love ALL animals, but here is a great quote: The difference between a dog and a cat is that you have to EARN a cat’s love.

Jeremy would lie on his back looking very charming and tempting – and then nip me if I rubbed his belly. I’m glad to know that isn’t so unusual.
Oh, my new Lucas shows his belly constantly, he flops, and stretches out, revealing all… but if you try to scratch, he runs away or nips ya!

Absolutely irresistable soft little fluffy angel! That’s just the cutest thing! My Cocoa likes to lay like that and wants me to pet his tummy while he purrs. His sister, Midnight, rolls over so that she can capture your hand with her paws, while licking and nibbling your fingers. Their other sister, Grr, won’t let anyone but my daughter near her tummy.

Hello Everyone, out doing the Mom thing today. I LOVE TWEAK! All the nuzzeable fur! Is that how you spell that? Oscar is not a tummy rub kind of kitty but he likes to sleep this way. My Mom’s cat, Brunswick will run to you, look up at you, and just fall over backward and stare hard at you until you rub his tummy. If he’s walking and you put your hand under his tum, he will stop mid-stride and fall over for a good rub.

Wow I am missing a bunch of comments then as I came on at 5PM EST and there were only 32 showing. Oh well I love the ones I have read. My two boys Taffy and Domino hated belly rubs would lie there on their backs and when I would try to sneak a rub they would wrap all four legs around my wrist.
My kitty rolls around on her back and sometimes just lies there, but gets upset when you try to touch her tummy. It’s adorable.

The picture of Tweak made me laugh as soon as it came on the screen. Great pose! My Cassie does the same thing. She loves to do the “centerfold” shot and be scratched as she flips side to side. Just doesn’t like her front paws being touched. She pulls them back if you try to rub them. Her back feet, however, are a different story. I can’t figure out if she likes the pads being massaged, or in between the toes as she spreads them like a fan. She also likes if I scratch her with my back scratcher (that’s when she’s not trying to bite it).
Sounds like Tweak is a “Heinz 57” of the cat world (usually referring to dogs when they’re a mixed breed). Very interesting blend of colors and cute, too!
Your kitten is the cutest thing ever! My cat’s evil in that she’ll lay on her back and show me her belly, but the second I rub it she nips me! She’s a big tease. 😛
