Yes, she seems extremely competent and patient for an adolescent mamma, which is not always the case for human girls, pussycats or other species. She was only 7 months old when she fell pregnant!
I trust you will have her sterilised once the kittens are weaned and adopted.
I’d slightly disobey the coffee thing, if not, I’d have to mainline caffeine. I’ve had that, but it resolved quickly – however I still remember how utterly miserable I was. Not only painful but feeling dirty.
I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but without a little morning hit of espresso, get a splitting headache around 11 a.m.
I also fostered a…[Read more]
Sailors (whether in the Navy or the merchant marine) kept cats for centuries, as not only did rodents eat or soil food supplies, they also chewed on rigging and could paralyse a ship. As a result no sailor would dare kill or harm the ship’s cat.
Today is also Liberation Day (Il giorno della liberazione) in Italy. I knew a few old partisans there, but they have all died – of old age, not by being killed by Nazis/Fascists. I wasn’t around that long ago…
There is more than one day for Holocaust (or Shoah, or Nazi Genocide) day; some use the date of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, others the…[Read more]
I’d choose goat-milk yoghurt as the first dairy food to introduce. Riviera makes a great one, and it is kosher. But of course it depends on the medical advice you are getting. You are probably craving protein, and a bit of fat.
It is chilly here this morning, after a beautiful Sunday. Oh well, I have a lot of work to get done.
We pay for healthcare whether or not we use it, but often there are some kind of user fees despite what is supposedly a free (upon delivery, obviously paid by our taxes) national health service.
Rice and toast are the best things to eat now, but eventually you will need some protein, especially as you exercise a lot. The doc will of course have…[Read more]

She really gave birth to SIX kittens?!?
Google’s doodle for today features a little black cat, as well as a red fox and a green frog:
And small ways they can remediate environmental damage. Though in reality, I don’t see a cat or a fox opting for the vegetarian option!
Yes, I booked mine in our autumn and was very glad I did. There was a clinic at a pharmacy near me. They are very professional and not the kind of “pharmacy” that sells mostly unhealthy junk food! They are a couple from Lebanon.
Bless you for saving that tiny baby, despite your adverse reaction to her dander. I do hope someone can take over from you. Only wish I knew more about possible ways to control cat allergies. I don’t know where you live and if seeing an allergist costs money there.

Yes, I’ve been combing Livia with a fine-toothed comb and quite a bit of fur is coming loose. She loves it – she must feel itchy.
I’m lagatta, too short to abbreviate. Two Ts (Italian) as opposed to the Spanish lagata, but no objection to that spelling. Was owned by Renzo (black tomcat with a bit of white) for 20 years, but sadly he died last year and friends bestowed Livia on me, a tiny, totally black female who looked like a kitten but was actually around 2 1/2… To…[Read more]
Sorry. I thought you just didn’t eat chicken at home (due to obvious complications while keeping kosher). I’m sorry your stomach is STILL upset, have you seen a doctor or called info-santé 811? They always have registered nurses waiting to provide advice and help you determine if more help is needed (I know a nurse, retired now, who worked…[Read more]
Now you can “indulge” in my Moroccan Sephardic friend’s cure of white rice and some ginger tea. Ideally, a bit of fresh organic ginger. Moroccans, whether of Jewish or Muslim backgrounds, also do chicken soup, with a bit of ginger, that settles the stomach.
Yes, if you are up to doing exercise, it is good. Despite iffy weather, I definitely did…[Read more]
