• Morning all! Getting myself and Avery ready to pick up older granddaughters to take them school supply shopping. They got their lists in their grade cards when they mailed them out, so we don’t have to wait a few days before school starts. So much better to get them now and not have to deal with aisles of people crawling all over you and the…[Read more]

  • Well, I became a grandmother at the ripe old age of 48!! 😛 I love being a grandmother though and am lucky enough to see my grandchildren often. I have grand furkits too, lots of them!! I get to trim their claws when I’m around and help when needed in the kitty boo boo department.

JJ, it’s raining here today, it’s like pea soup outside…dau…[Read more]

  • Well, I live in a rural area too and most kittens born in barns (if there are cats coming and going) have the gooey eyes. You never know what they have been exposed to with cats coming from other places and of course other lovely people who think you might as well take their cast offs because you have a barn and they’ve seen other cats around your…[Read more]

  • Well lagatta, it’s Friday and I say you should have your falafel!! 😀

We just had a 2 hours thunderstorm that I swear dumped 2 inches of rain on us! Wow, had to wait to give Avery a bath–just too much lightening. So glad it’s Friday and a pretty lazy day for us here. No where we have to be so we can read books to Avery and watch cartoons. She…[Read more]

  • Sounds good to me, and I’m sure Harley feels better too! 😆 Good job!!

  • Congratulations on poop!!

Usually if the kitten has goopy eyes, it’s a symptom of a bigger problem, namely a upper respiratory infection. Your kitten should be vet checked and then they can prescribe either drops or an antibiotic ointment to help clear the eyes. If it’s bad enough they will prescribe an overall antibiotic. I’m surprised they…[Read more]

  • I would start her on a litter box, she’s probably old enough to start. Use plain clay unscented non clumping litter to start with since kittens tend to taste everything and the clumping isn’t good for their insides. After feeding her, place her in the litter and take her paw and scratch in the litter.

You might try adding some wet food to her…[Read more]

  • LOVE the pics of the cats with the moon, so mysterious and comforting at the same time.

PG, I love swimming in cold water when it’s really hot…but I guess the water just feels really cold because it IS so hot! 😛

MS, hope you are weathering the storm well, and hope you have gotten over your crud. HRH sounds as if she is feeling better too…[Read more]

More water in a cats diet isn’t a bad thing, but I have not fed the Special Kitty wet food so can’t comment on it. If I were you, I would start with a general well check with the vet to make sure that nothing is going on internally. Then do some searching about food and try it. A good tummy settler is goat’s milk, or goat’s milk yogurt, which I…[Read more]

  • Hi Lauren,
I agree with PG, that the best alternative to this situation that is getting out of control is to contact a no kill shelter or SPCA that will help you with the spay/neutering of these kittens. He should have had his females spayed to begin with, but since he didn’t, and you let him stay, the result is this chaos. 🙁 He may not know…[Read more]

  • You can put more than one drop in the bottle and I would do it at every feeding, until she poops. Oh, and the triangle method really works, so you should try it!!

Goat’s milk works wonders too, and is good for the gut and immune system. You can find it in the refrigerated milk section as fresh, or in the baking aisle in cans or powder.

  • It is so hot here, you can hardly take a breath if you step outside. UGH.

I too am having a hard time loading this site, and I thought it was my computer or my internet connection, but now that you have mentioned it KJ, I am a bit relieved!!

Love the pics–cats and cell phones–Peso is famous for stepping on mine before the screen shuts off and…[Read more]

  • Congratulations on getting your kitten to the almost 4 week old stage! It’s not uncommon for them to chew on the nipple and not want to lap up water. Mine learned from the other cats how to drink water, so I’ve not worried about teaching since cats aren’t heavy water drinkers like dogs. I start offering wet food (the pate style with no chunks or…[Read more]

  • Kittens, like human babies, are creatures who like routine. Do the same things at the same time every day. Feeding, stimulating, or putting her in her litter tray after eating. If you pee her over her tray and it goes into the litter and also put a couple of her poops in there, then when she is in there sniffing around, she will finally put two…[Read more]

  • PG 😛 I have heard that caviar is salty and figured it must be used in the preservation process, but don’t know if it tastes fishy or not.

Avery is back with me and is in good spirits, her foot doesn’t hurt as much as it did. She must have pulled something but didn’t break it, still won’t walk on it. Hopefully, in the next day or so she will be…[Read more]

  • I agree with PG, just cut the end of the nipple off so the formula/food can pass easily through the nipple. Don’t squeeze the bottle, but control the flow by tipping the end of the bottle up for faster or down to slow it. Once she gets this slurry into her, she won’t be so frantic acting when eating. A lot of kittens are slow to want to eat from a…[Read more]

  • Oh no JJ, seems we have similar problems with young boy kittens making off with items and hiding them! Peso is seriously one of the orneriest kittens I’ve ever had!! He has every toy out of the basket each morning–I put them back in while he attacks me in the process–only to do it again and again. He always has a small stuffy in his mouth…[Read more]

  • Hahaha JJ, I just had a vision of Comet in his trunks, made me laugh! BUT, Willow looks just as ‘cool’ and Peso has decided not to wear any at all 😮 but he says he’s a baby and babies can get away with that….heh.

    Happy Birthday Comet!!

You don’t say how old your kitten is so it’s hard to know what kind of advice to give. But a little olive oil to his WET food would be good. Any dry food at the point is soaking up moisture and helping to aggravate the problem. He does need to see a vet as most times kittens have worms and that causes constipation/diarrhea.

    We like to recommend…[Read more]

  • I’m late into the cafe today, since we (Avery’s mom and I) took Avery to get xrays…we though she may have broken her leg, foot, by doing somersaults on the new swingset she has. Ended up not being broken (we think) but she still can’t walk on her right leg/foot.

Those cats with hot dogs are cute…I’ve really not had a problem with my cats…[Read more]
