I wouldn’t change her wet food right now, unless you want to take her off KMR like PG suggested. I’m thinking a call to the vet and run it by them and see what they think. I know you said they dewormed her, but I wonder if they could have given her a fecal test to see if she had coccidia. She may already have the all clear, don’t fret about it,…[Read more]

AARRRGH…I be holdin’ me plate out at the wormhole JJ!! Sounds scrumptious!
ECB, good news on the mammo…seriously, how flat is flat?! 😆 DANG!
I am going to have a ‘discussion’ with someone (I know not who) — it could be the hospital administrator as Mr. KZ went for a test last week and presented his insurance card, only to have the…[Read more]
Good morning everyone!
ECB, calming vibes being sent to you, and yes it is common, I have had a call back but I have very dense breast tissue not easily looked through in a mammogram. My OB doc that I’ve had for years told me I’ve seemed to ‘outgrow’ that period in my life 😆 and I’m glad of it!
Dau and Avery and I are going for a birthday…[Read more]
No, she just isn’t getting enough to eat, fast enough. This is common behavior for kittens at that transitioning state to solid foods. You can try adding some wet food (no chunks or shreds) but the pate’ style food to the bottle with the formula–opening up the hold of the nipple so the gruel flows through–and I think this will make a big…[Read more]
I have always used a large dog crate, set up with the bed, litter box (small enough for them to enter and exit). Eventually, some food and water. They won’t need that for a couple of weeks or more. This keeps them confined but they get used to the comings and goings of the household, the noises of appliances, voices, and other animals, etc.
You don’t add olive oil to formula to stimulate it…it softens up the poop and you don’t want to do that with diarrhea. Stimulating the kitten means to use your hand or a washcloth to make it pee or poop, like the mother does with her tongue by licking them to stimulate them to go.
I would do what PG has suggested in putting some lubricant in her food. If she is eating solid food, such as wet food, she should be going on her own. Since she has had dewormers, I am concerned that she might have had a large worm burden and cannot pass it without some help. If she doesn’t poop, a call to the vet or a visit might be in order to…[Read more]

MS, your pizza sounds quite good–and your canned spaghetti is probably much better than our, LOL!! The pizza party was very good actually. There were probably 10 different pizzas from different towns of course, since everyone brought one from where they came from. Salty thin crusts with delicate toppings to spicy sausage, green peppers, onions,…[Read more]
Hi Renae, welcome to TDK! You have undertaken a big responsibility in caring for so many cats–you are awesome! I too have cared for many cats and being in a rural area and not being able to bring them all inside–bad things happen. If you have an animal welfare league or ASPCA in your area that can help you get your cats spayed and neutered and…[Read more]
Wow, 7 kittens! Bless you for the most rewarding job you have taken on! I will post some links for you on checking the age of your kittens and on hand rearing. Keeping their eyes clean by wiping them with a warm damp wash cloth is best for now. It may just be that they are starting to open their eyes. They will eventually need to see a vet,…[Read more]
Sounds to me like you are doing awesome–I would switch to powdered KMR, as it has a tendency to firm up the stool. You could also switch to goat’s milk in the powdered form, it will do the same thing. Is this kitten old enough for solid food? You could try it on some wet food–but nothing with chunks or shreads until you know it can chew and…[Read more]

That is unusual behavior for a kitten so young. Handle him with care and gentleness, and if he doesn’t calm down to some degree, please mention it to your vet when you take them for checkups and their first shots.
Idk about how much food, maybe an 1/8 to 1/4 teas. in a bottle. You will have to open the nipple a bit, just make sure there are no…[Read more]
Good morning everyone! Getting down to a light cleaning here this morning because it’s my youngest dau’s birfday today!! We are having a pizza party: everyone coming brings a pizza and I had her cake made, so it’s all about HER today!
JJ, my laptop is virtually unusable, it’s so slow and I’m wondering about having it looked at to see if anything…[Read more]

The best thing to do to socialize kittens this young, is to get them around other people now. Remember that they don’t like loud noises, sudden movements–things like that can really freak a small kitten out.
As for the feedings, I wouldn’t change anything if it’s working. You could try adding some wet food to the formula (make sure it’s the pate…[Read more]
Hi Kat, glad you are here! We get very excited by poop too! I’ve found the powdered KMR constipates kittens and the liquid gives them diarrhea. I prefer the powdered, and I alternate feedings with the goat’s milk. Goat’s milk is a complete food in itself though, so you can use it in place of KMR. This is just what I did with my last kitten.…[Read more]
Honey, I shrunk the cat….hee heeee! Yes PG, coffee DOES taste better on Fridays!
Well, I’m going to make squash soup today–butternut and pumpkin are the main ingredients. I tasted this soup last week, hunted for the recipe and it’s seriously delicious. Going to make an Asian salad and have a crunchy baguette with it for tonight’s supper. I…[Read more]
I am going to give you a lot of information–links for you to look at about how to care for a baby kitten. Make sure you made him a nest with a heating pad wrapped in a towel (set on low) and a place for him to crawl off if he gets too warm. You can also use a hot water bottle wrapped in a blanket, or a bag of rice warmed in the microwave wrapped…[Read more]
I am so sorry for the lost of little Ace. This is just heartbreaking. Please know that you could have done nothing more than you did, some little kittens are not meant to be here for very long–but they teach us so much in that short time. He knew that you loved him, he was safe and warm and fed. Thank you for all you did for him. 😥
