I bookmarked it too, thanks Dee. There is some great recipes there for special diets.

Is this the same Albertsons as the supermarket? Airy shops there if it is, I’ll pass this on to her.

Yes it is, MS. I mostly shop there, too. They have great sales each week and a wonderful produce section.

Thanks for that Dee, I’ll definitely make sure Airy sees this page. She asked me yesterday if I knew how to cook steel head trout, we don’t have it here so I hunted down some internet recipes for her. Haven’t heard the result of how it went yet.

Airy is in California, right? Steelhead trout is quite popular there. I love fish and all types of seafood…and Albertson’s has “buy one pound, get one pound free” sales on frozen shrimp…deveined, but not shelled…going to buy some later today, actually. (And the cats go crazy over it, too!)

Ohhhh seafood. I live in a coastal city, great fishing here. We don’t have shrimp unfortunately and crayfish(lobster) costs and arm and a leg as most of it is exported. We get mussels, scallops, pipi, toheroa and plenty of other shellfish. The only shrimp and prawns we get are mainly imported and therefore frozen and aren’t that great when thawed. Mr MS does as much fishing as I allow, so we have a pretty constant supply of fresh fish. Some I smoke.

Yes Airy is in Irvine, LA.

I adore mussels and scallops! My gosh, I could eat fish and seafood every day and not tire of it.

I wonder how Airy’s fish turned out.

Just checked for an email from her but nothing. She was going to broil it after discovering her oven had a broiling compartment. Actually neither of us knew what broiling was, seems it’s what we call grilling here, doh!

That is interesting…I love learning all the differences in American English compared to New Zealand English, etc. My ex-boyfriend was from Melbourne, Australia, and we still learned new words and lingo from each other after three years.

Airy and I have fun working some things out. It gets even harder when you start getting into slang or local sayings.

It’s after midnight and I’m off to bed as I have to get up at sparrow fart. (very early or up with the birds)

Thanks, Dee. Some of these look delish even for a low-carb diet.

I only just now found this – thanks, Dee!! I have bookmarked it.

We have Albertson’s here but I don’t really shop there much. The best store here, and in many parts of Texas, is HEB. They are considerably less than Albertson’s, unless Albertson’s is having a big sale.

Whoa – I’ve already printed out a bunch of recipes. These are awesome!

Creamy White Bean Dip sounds perfect to have with martinis! I would have thought that the canned beans would add too much sodium, but I guess since you rinse them it really reduces the salt.

Pork Marsala and Pork Scaloppini in Lime Sauce sound wonderful!

I grew up in Tustin, maybe 5 minutes from Irvine; it is a beautiful area, and there are many good grocery stores and whole foods markets in the area. Just before we moved to Texas, some of the markets in Orange County (Von’s and Albertsons, I think) also had the option of ordering food and groceries online and having them delivered to your house, on your schedule. It was very convenient for having the “bulky” items delivered (kitty litter, multipacks of paper towels, TP, bottled water, etc.)and, if you ordered enough, the delivery was free!

Here in San Antonio, Texas, unfortunately the only real “game in town” for groceries is the HEB. I’m not a big fan, but, I’ve learned to adjust….. ;-(

I have an Albertson as well as a Publix just up the street. Unless there’s a special sale at Albertson’e, it’s considerably more expensive than Publix.
