So the orphan kittens I have were saved on Monday (04/10/17) they’re 3 weeks old roughly and although they’ve made great progress (they eat every 2-4 hours, they play, they purr, they walk around, they give the occasional kiss or so) they still have not pooped even once, they pee all the time and don’t seem to be in any discomfort whatsoever, their tummies aren’t hard or overly round, they’re soft and they don’t cry or fight back when they’re being stimulated. I called numerous vets and they recommended a heating pad and to wait a little longer. Although they don’t seem to be in any pain or discomfort I’m so worried, I’ve never taken kittens in before and have been doing everything I can to ensure that they’re safe, warm, fed, loved and overall healthy. Vet visits in the city go for $80-200 per kitten and I’ve tried everything, a little olive oil in the milk, the triangle technique, what should I do?

    Hi Evelyn,

I see you posted on 14/4/17. So this has been going on for 2-4 days? They are still very young and may not have enough to poop.
I still recommend putting a bit of Olive/Mineral oil in the their formula. It doesn’t hurt them.

The other option is a vet visit. I understand the costs but purrhaps you can make payment arrangements; ask if a vet. will see all your kits for one price; if you can volunteer in exchange for med. costs; you can call ASPCA. I don’t know where you live but here are some links:

Good luck and keep in touch
